Rye lends spiciness to the caramel-malt base, while creating a creamy texture. Dry-hopping contributes a fresh citrus finish. Pairings: blue cheese, blackened seafood, herb-roasted poultry.

3.3Pours a hazy copper color. Aroma and taste are spices, citrus, and some caramel malts.
4.0Clear copper like a fresh penny, with a medium rocky beige head. Lovely nose of spicy bread dough, pepper, caramel, and a dry-hopped orange citrus tone. Lovely flavor too, with some spicy rye malt mixing with a fresh leafy grassy bitterness and a orange rind bitter hop flavour. Nice hoppy yet smooth caramalt and rye undertone to sweeten. Flavorful and unique.
3.8I pry the cap off my rye ale. I spy a copper beer and my eye detects a shy white head. As it draws nigh, a subtle but spry aroma cannot be denied. I cry with delight at the chai-like supply of flavors. Finishes dry. Oops, spilled some on my thigh, sigh. Bye.
3.4Bomber. Spicy rye aroma with notes of hops and a bit of caramel malt. Pours cloudy copper colored with a big, soapy tan head and excellent lacing. Starts with sweet caramel flavor with a very smooth mouth feel. Finishes dry with spicy rye as well as piney hop flavors. Good, but I liked their others better.
3.222 oz bottle. Pours hazy copper orange with a big frothy creamy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet bready rye, some fruit and hops.
The flavor is sweet bready biscuit malts, rye spice, some fruit with slightly vegetal hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall, a decent rye pale.
3.7Bomber bottle poured a hazy copper hue w/ large beige frothy head diminishing to a lasting cap. Big malt aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a bold bitter finish of long duration. Tastes are caramel, peppery rye, and malt. Full bodied, avg carbonation, and creamy mouthfeel.
3.5Pours a dark and murky brownish-amber. Has a fruity malt and caramel aroma. Has a sweet caramel, fruit, malt, hop, and light citrus taste. Aftertaste starts sweet, but is followed by some bitter hops/malts.
3.3Bomber from this year’s vintage. Nose spicy with lots of booze, caramel, earth; pours deep garnet that’s starting to fade toward orange, supports a large and densely rocky beige head. Watery light-medium body with meringue beefing up the body a bit, clean with medium bitterness and significant alcohol and burn, there’s the spiciness associated with rye and goopy glucan character as well, depressing caramel with very little citrus to enliven, hops are there but not huge, just wooden and earthy. The pine is nice, though and matches well. Overall pretty standard, probably not worthy of a special release, but stands up well by itself as a sipper and against food as a base.
2.8Bottle (2014 edition).
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium to dark amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin, apricot), with notes of diacetyl.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Seems more alcoholic than it is. Fairly strong sourness mars the drinking experience. The aroma is fine, although pretty basic...tropical fruit and resinous hops with some caramelly malt. Average.
3.6Bomber poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. aromas of rye, spice, earthiness, pine and light citrus. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of rye, earthiness, light citrus and light pine with a smooth dry moderatly bitter finish.
3.7pours hazy light golden orange with a very nice light beige-orange head showing good retention and lacing. spicy and quite fruity maltiness - almost juicy peaches and some dried lightly sweetened apricots, toasted peppery bread - pumpernickel-like, citrusy, spicy and woodsy-soft piney hops, also grass. average carbonation, light body, balanced grassy-citrusy-piney-peppery finish. very nice hoppy rye.
3.3Poured into a pint glass out of a 22oz bomber.
Pours a slightly hazy medium copper with a fairly hefty one finger off-white head. Head retention is very good although lacing is lacking somewhat.
Aroma has a touch of tropical fruit mixed with some pine and earth. That telltale rye spiciness is present although it is not as up front as I was hoping. Fairly juicy all-around but a bit of a let down.
The flavor improves somewhat but I feel it is still lacking a huge hit of rye. Orange and tangerine from the hops and a nice hop juiciness. The citra really comes through. Rye spice is in the background but really lacks a punch. Nice slick mouthfeel that I was expecting and solid malt backbone but sort of boring. Bitterness is only moderate.
Overall, I was a bit let down by this beer. It honestly doesn’t seem a whole lot different from the standard mad hatter. Not really worth going out of your way for.
3.6on draft. poured a medium to dark amber color with white head and plenty of lacing all the way down the glass. the aroma of malts and hops and the spiciness from the rye. the flavor was quite good. the medium malt base with the hops front end bitterness followed by the rye spice blends very well together. overall a solid beer that is more than drinkable.
3.5Bottle at home. Pours clear burnished copper with a large, frothy and bubbly off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy and earthy rye malt, light honey and caramel malt notes with hints of toast, moderate earthy, pine and resiny American hops and light peppery alcohol. Flavor is moderate pine, resiny and citrus American hops, moderate bitterness accentuated by the earthy and spicy rye malt, lightly sweet honey and caramel malt notes, balanced toward the hop bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation with light alcohol warmth.
3.9Dark amber with rimming beige head; aroma is malty slightly woody hints of dry spicy grain; feels medium with nice fizziness fading to foaminess; finishes dry slight malty notes and grassy graininess
3.7500ml bottle, Vintage 2013. Foil wrapped. Orange amber color. Aroma of hops, caramel malts, some spicy rye. Simple body, lighter than expected. There is a definite tingle on the palate, from the rye, exactly what I was looking for. Nice toasted grain flavors. (4110)
3.6Draft. Super tropical and fruit-forward variation in this series, one of the ncier ones.
4.1Aroma is sweet, grapefruit, and rye. Appearance is dark orange, white head. Taste is nice hops, rye, sweet, finishes bitter. Mouthfeel is great, decent carbonation, lingering flavor. Overall, quite nice.
3.8It pours with a large head. It is a light golden color with tinges of orange. The aroma has a distinct caramel malt domination with other grains present. There is lacing on the side as the head retreats down the glass. There is a pleasant caramel and grain mixture for the taste. The is a dry texture to it, but not too much on the citrus side.
3.3The color is a hazy orange with a small off-white head, and the aroma blends floral and citrus hops with rye and caramel malts. The taste is quite bitter, slightly sour, and a touch sweet, which creates for an unbalanced and simply alright beer; the palate fuses an average carbonation, sticky texture, bitter finish, and a medium body.
3.3Bottle, which completely exploded across the hotel room..so half a bottle I guess. Smells good (all over everything) like first hops.Light spicy rye and sweet caramel with pine and citrus hops. Not bad.
3.722oz bottle - pours a medium amber . Soft malt aromas with some floral hops . Taste has a hint of rye spice with some sweet malt , tasty IPA .
4.1Pours a clear, dark amber with a fairly thick and slightly yellowish buff head. Strong aroma is fruity and sweet, with an undertone of rye and a hint of hops. Tasty flavor has rye, fruity, sweet malt and subtle woody hop notes. Very drinkable - you’ll wanna chug it! (But please drink responsibly!) Texture is firm and lively, goes down well. Ry’ve really enjoyed this one!
3.2Poured from bottle, great copper color with abundant foamy white head. Nose of caramel and sweet malts. Taste of copper, citrus, yeast, caramel, and spiced rye on the finish. Thin on the palate. Nothing earth shattering but by no means a bad beer.
3.2Pours dark burnt orange color with off white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus and a hint of rye. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation.
3.52013 Vintage bomber in the privacy of my dark basement. Poured in to le Duvel. Nose is rye and citrus. Sips brings in the ole caramel adage. Taste wise: a little from column A and a little from column B. Kind of thin. I like it overall and that’s all.
Incesticide is underated. Aero Zeppelin all the way to 11!
3.8The rye isn’t obvious in this brew. It’s a great IPA. Good flavor with a great citrus flavor.
3.5Poured a dark orange color with malt coloration. Had a decent hop/sharp bitter taste.
3.1The one I tried was from 2012 - it foamed up a bit when opening so it was probably a bit past its prime. Amber color; piney, citrusy aroma; citrusy hops and spice notes on a dry rye malt background.
3.3Poured from bottle. Orange with white head. Bomber. Good beer. Like their mad hatter with a twang. Not sure about the rye but enjoyable
