750ml bottle - 2015 vintage (12% ABV) picked up at Be Hoppy, Madrid (EUR20/bottle). Close to black in colour with a thin beige coloured head. Aroma of dark fruit, bourbon, wood and cocao nibs. Full body with soft carbonation. Taste of raisins, raspberry, oak, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Medium bitterness, sweet, woody and a little boozy spice. Smooth with a bit of a bite and long lasting bitterness.
Pours thick black with a one finger, tan head. Aroma is bourbon, roast, cocoa and molasses. Taste is chocolate and brown sugar, moving to roast and vanilla. Finish is roast and bourbon. A very good stout.
From a bottle labelled 2017. Poured opaque ink-black with a 1-finger dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate, bourbon and wood. Full-bodied and fairly thick. Long finish with a light astringency. Flavors of wood and bourbon, with dark fruit and chocolate notes underneath.

Not exactly a precise review, just a valutation based on my personal taste.
Piwo smoliście czarne z beżową pianą. W aromacie czuć sporo kakao, gorzkiej czekolady, trochę kawy, poza tym karmel, syrop klonowy, brązowy cukier, nuty od beczki - wanilia, kokos. W smaku piwo jest dosyć słodkie, ale nie męcząco, wszystkie smaki są super zbalansowane, wyczuć można czekoladę deserową, karmel, wanilię, praliny czekoladowe, na końcu lekka goryczka z posmakiem kawy. Alkoholu nie czuć pomimo intensywnego ogrzania. Piwo jest gęste, wyklejające. Genialne piwo.
Bottle from SAQ A: bourbon, alcohol, licorice, figs, light raisins, a touch of molasses. Dark chocolate. App: pitch black small mocha head. T/p: full body with short to moderate long bitter finish. Soft to moderate carbonation. O: Impressive one. The barrel is well present without being too boozy. Rich and complex. Great job Nickelbrook !
Bottle shared by KBL. Black pour with a great tan head. Aroma of chocolate and dark fruit, bourbon barrel notes. Savoury bitter dark chocolate flavour, rich dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Smooth creamy body, large bitter finish. Nice mellowing rounding of flavour in the backhalf, almost drops out but has a pleasing warmth and lingering choc and fruit notes on the palate.
2017 vintage at home drank with Vanessa. Aroma: cherry, earthy, bourbon giving lots of alcohol aroma, vanilla, chocolate a lot. App: dark Coca-Cola, medium frothy moka head with moderate retention leaving great lacing. Taste and palate: moderate to full body, creamy but liquoreux at the same time, medium sweetness, light acidity and alcohol burning finish. Quite tasty as well. Overall: since I was told this one wasn't as good as café el bastardo my expectations weren't really high for some reason. I was wrong. It's really good. Especially like the taste. It's really tasty. Bourbon could be a tad more present but at the same time it really gives this alcohol feeling in the aroma and palate. Enjoyed every dip of it. Great.
2015 vintage. Four years aging makes it s mellow, smooth drinking beer. Bourbon on the aftertaste but not boozy. Overall s really nice imperial stout.

Deep cola black with a sweet Kentucky bourbon barrel aroma. Medium to full bodied and a bit viscous. The velvety mouthfeel gives a sharply sweet Kentucky bourbon and mild spicy flavor. Quite good.
Acheter à la SAQ de St-Hyacinthe. Il s’agit d’une très belle bière noire notamment au niveau de la mousse marron qui rappel étrangement le lait au chocolat. Le parfum qui s’en dégage est très sucré et l’odeur du bourbon y est très présente. Au goût, les saveurs de bourbon se marient très bien avec le goût un peu amer du chocolat. En finale, cette même amertume ressort en accord avec un petit goût boisé.

De couleurs noir avec mousse de couleur moka très foncé ,on n’a des de chocolat et eXpresso et on n’a aussi du bourbon .en bouche c est wow très costaud car on n’a 12% d alcool.en bouche on na des saveur intense de chocolat avec un côté de petit fruits rouge avec le bourbon c est vineux ça colle sur le verre .bonne bière

2017. Massive bourbon and chocolate aromas, slight caramel. Pitch black, small creamy mocha head. Some sweetness, a little too much imo. Bitterness on point. Little warming alcohol. A little bit of a cloying finish. Creamy mouthfeel. A solid imperial but nothing crazy.
Notes of vanilla Oak Coffee Toffee caramel coffee vanilla. Dark and delicious

Pours very dark with cream colored head. Aroma of malts and wood. Taste is typical of a good BA stout. Strong beer, good job.
Czarna barwa z ładną brązową pianą i fajnym lacingiem. Pachnie czekoladą, likierem wiśniowym i kokosami. Smak jest lepszy, poukładany i złożony, mocno słodki ale nie wyklejający. Alkohol wygrzewa na języku ale nie na podniebieniu. Faktura raczej lekka, wysycenie nikłe. Udane.
I was lucky to pick that one at the Beer Store in Gloucester. This is above average beer. The 2017 edition is at a hefty 11.9%, yet well-balanced and savoury. Kudos.

750ml bottle while summer camping. Vintage 2016. CANBIF beer, so thanks. Pours an opaque black colour with medium brown head. Nose is bourbon, caramel, light vanilla and a boozyness abound. Flavour is a pleasant mix of bourbon, dark roast, caramel, and a hint of vanilla. Full bodied, good carbonation, and a moderate sweetness kept in check by the roasted malt while finishing boozy. Good stuff, not overly complex, but nice.
Tapped at Bar Hop Toronto (original). Overall one of THE best Russian imperial stouts I have ever had. Super balanced on all levels. Alcohol dangerously hidden. Quite easy to drink I was surprised. A mind blowing beer!
Dark fruit , Choclate , Vanilla , Coffee and oak notes off the top . First tastes through me off because I did not realize it was burbon barrel aged aha but you cna really taste the bourbon in their mixed with the coffee and dark chocolate and vanilla. Defenitlet a slow sipper for the night time or colder tempatures . Also cool how you are able to age the beer by putting it in a cellar . Defenitley going to try that next time but overall and amzaing stout , not for the faint of heart as it is quite high in ABV and has quite a bit of biterness from the coffee and dark chocloate in it.
Bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque black with a small beige head. Aromas of coffee, bourbon, roasted malts and some sweet cherries. Taste matches the aroma with a nice warming finish due to high alcohol content. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Excellent Imperial Stout.

Wygląd: czarne jak smoła, oleiste, prześliczna, regularna, brunatna, wysoka, drobnopęcherzykowa piana, długo się utrzymująca.
Smak: słodki i bogaty, czekolada mleczna i gorzka, wanilia, kakao, kawa, trochę nut palonych ale niedużo. Kremowe i gęste, pralinkowe, przyjemne posmaki. Niezły balans w sumie choć równowaga nieco w stronę słodyczy przesunięta, nut palonych i goryczy także dużo
Odczucie: gęste i kremowe, ale o dziwo nie ma odczucia jakiejś wielkiej pełni ciała, alkohol dobrze ułożony, gorzka czekolada na finiszu.
Całość: za słaby wpływ beczki, chodzi mi o sam bourbon bo wanilii mnóstwo. Ale piwo o nazwie Kentucky Bastard powinno dawać bourbonem jak z otwartej beczki a tu nic. Piwo bardzo smaczne, piękny wygląd nieco podwyższył jeszcze ocenę. 8/5/7/4/14
