Nils Oscar Hop Yard IPA

Nils Oscar Hop Yard IPA

Kirkas oranssinruskea. Tuoksussa makeaa humalaa ja mallasta, hedelmää, sitrusta. Maussa havuista humalaa, mallasta, metsää, sitrusta.
3.3 How: Bottle Appearance: Clear amber, small to medium white head. Aroma: Citrus, fruit, syrup, minerals, Palate: Medium to light body, soft carbonation.
1.4 Label says "lots of Amarillo and Citra hops" and dry hopping. The beer lacks of all traces from Amarillo and Citra hops and does not taste like dry hopped beers. A fake IPA and another disappoinment frpm Nils Oscar brewery.
3.5 Bottle, Ship in a Bottle, West Kirby. Dark golden pour with a small off white head. Nice fragrant hoppy beak. Grapefruit, peach and oak notes in the flavour. Plenty of bitterness delivered. Solid IPA. The only drawback was it made me think of my ex-boss who was Swedish so loses a point for that.
Flaska.
3.8 Aroma of lychees, grapefruits with a rich, malty backbone breaking through. The taste that comes from its slightly oily texture, is heavy and yet well balanced. Sweet tropical fruits and dry bitterness fight together all the way with the bitterness as the sole winner in the end after a long, sweaty fight. Really tasty brew this one.
3.6 Bottle from Cunningham, many thanks. Pours deep golden color, white head. Aroma is hoppy, tangerines, grapefruit. Taste is full of grapefruit, medium bitter, lightly sweet, malty, hints of caramel.
3.6 Bottle at home, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clear darker blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: heavy, fruity, alcohol, hoppy. TASTE: hoppy, fruity, decent!
3.3 Bottle, BBE 01/08/14. Pours an auburn amber with a good-sized, beige head. Aroma is caramelly and piney, somewhat citrusy. Taste is a fairly strong caramel, but there’s pine and resin too. A light citrus and grapefruit. Full and fairly strongly carbonated. Well-executed, but the hops could be stronger, even if it is close to BBE date. As it warms up, the toffee, caramel and even nuttiness really starts to dominate. Better drink cold.
3.5 Bottle at home. Pours golden, nose is pine, caramel, taste is bitter, juicy fruit.
3.3 Crystal clear, medium amber body with an off-white head that leaves some remnants on the glass. Rather strong aroma that is surprisingly malty. I get lots of sweet caramel, with generic fruits in the back, traces of tropical fruits and hints of overripe orange. Strong flavour of caramel in front, moderate generic fruity notes, a good amount of citrus, both grapefruit and orange, and finally I get some resin in the long-lasting, rather heavy bitter finish. Despite the moderate to light sweet initial taste the texture is rather dry. Mid-bodied and moderate carbonation. A nice beer, but calling this malt bomb "Hop Yard IPA" is very misleading. Even if the beer was far from fresh. [33 cl bottle, enjoyed 2 months before BB date, from Systembolaget Gårda, Göteborg]
3.6 @Grengatan 19/6-14. Bottle from Systembolaget. Aroma: Fruity, banana, some malt. Taste: Dito + quite sweet, medium bitterness. Body is medium, finish is medium dry and bitter with some sweet notes.
3.5 33 cl bottle from Systembolaget Strömstad. Pours a misty orange golden body with a small tanned head. Pleasant dried fruits, marmelade and hoppy pollen on the nose. Hoppy leafy bitter and a caramel sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Earthy notes towards the end and a dry tongue. Mellow and well balanced. Pretty good stuff that I´d gladly have again..
3.0 Pours amber coloured and clear with a finger of white head. Moderately aromatic on the nose with citrus, bananas, limezest, flowers, hay, soft maltiness and a slight yeasty note. Medium bodied on the palate, fresh hoppiness with a kick of bitterness towards the middle. Pleasant IPA but nothing really special.
3.3 Flasa - MisoW. Tmavo oranzova farba, biela pena. Vona sladovo sladka, ovocna, jemne citrusove plody a zlahka chmel. V chuti sladova sladkost, karamel, ovocne tony, cerveny pomaranc a prijemna horka dochut.
3.7 330 ml bottle. Clear golden with white head. Smell is sweet malty and bitter hops. Some roasted notes. Taste is bitter and sweet. Some coffee.
3.3 Very clean, not bad at all, good bitterness, nice aroma, a lot of resiny feel to it, but also clear grapefruit. One of their best beers by far.
4.0 The palate is completely bombarded by the flavors and in a weird way, Nils Oscar still managed the feat to balance this up to a very well made IPA.
3.4 Bottle at home from Stockholm, 21st April 14. Pours clean, not bottled conditioned, aroma is ok, but muted. Taste is American in style, smooth and average carbonation, bitter after taste. Not bad
3.5 Flaska från Systembolaget. Klar bärnstensfärgad vätska med ljust skum. Fruktig humle och karamell. Smarrig IPA
3.3 Flaska från SB. Bärnsten med lite skum. Bra humletoner och lite citrus i doften. Ganska klassisk IPA-smak, lite sötare än vanligt kanske.
3.5 Inviting aroma. Caramel, hops, pine forest, wet cow, fresh sweet lemon limonade to the nose. Off white head, amber clear body, few spots inside mug. Dark syrupy malts, hops, smoked pine forest, drunk cow, toffee, confectionery content to the tongue. Balanced carbonation, slightly dry on palate, very tasty and good body. Warming lingering aftertaste with caramel, chocolate, bitterness, hoppiness, happiness and fruitiness. Overall a drink that deserves some time when you have it. 33cl 7.3% B@Systembolaget, tasted@home.
3.4 Doesn't smell much, nice color and palate. Quite smooth with a bit of hoppy taste. Could be one of my new favorite everyday IPAs
3.3 330ml bottle pours dark clear reddish orange with a finger of head. Nose is sweet malty fruit, hint of pine. Taste is big sweet malt, touch medicinal fruit, some faint piney notes. Finish is medium bitterness with grapefruit and malt.
3.5 Bottle from systembolaget Bergvik, Karlstad. Nice copper colour, good white head. Heavy, but very drinkable considering the ABV. Hints of cherry.
3.5 33cl flaske from Systembolaget Umeå, Fin gul farge, hvit skum som forsvant fort. Lukter Frukt, tropisk og humle, smaker humle og malt, bitter. Konon god
3.3 330 ml bottle from Systembolaget, Stockholm. Pours amber with a nice head. Subtle aroma of hops, a bit of fruits - lichee? Taste is quite light, very easily drinkable, which is quite surprising considering the alcohol level (7,3%). Taste itself is quite difficult to catch - there are some tropical fruits in the beginning, quite subtle. Next the bitterness ensues. This bitterness is not foul but quite fresh and fruity. Quite surprisingly there is clear malt/bread flash in the aftertaste. This IPA feels more like a British one - although the list of different hops on the label is long, they are not overwhelming at all. Very drinkable for this kind of beer, maybe not my favourite as an IPA, but not bad.
