No-Li Spin Cycle Red

No-Li Spin Cycle Red

An intriguing spin cycle of English, German and American brewing techniques, Spin Cycle Red is a celebration of the classic English-style ESB. The perfect balance of malt and hops create an enjoyable and quaffable red ale. Spin Cycle’s specialty malts combine to provide an aroma of lightly toasted bread and caramel, while additions of American Noble hops add an herbal flavor for balance.

3.5 I had this beer under it’s pseudonym "Crystal Bitter ESB". Reddish amber brown in color with light tan head, medium collar, good lacing and wisps. Aroma is caramel malts and earthy hops. Taste is too bitter for a bitter in my opinion. I get some earthy hoppiness, burnt caramel, and wet wood. Medium body and medium carbonation as well.
2.8 Pint poured reddish brown. Mild hop aroma. Spicy hops and bread. Dry and bitter. Not bad.
3.6 On tap @ The Cask. Pours dark reddish caramel with thin off white head. Aroma is sweet roasty caramel malt. Taste is big dark roasty carame malt, clean aftertaste. Nothing remarkable, but solid malty beer. Plenty of flavor for a red ale.
3.9 Dark red with a huge creamy beige head. Aroma of some caramel and hops. Very drinkable.
2.8 Poured a glass from a 22. It is a nice ESB. Grainy aroma and palate. Decently balanced.
3.6 22 oz bottle from Uptown Market in Beaverton, OR. Aroma for me has notes of biscuit with a bit of brown sugar. As the beer warmed up, I found a hint of barnyard. Taste is mildly sweet and malty throughout and finishes bitter. Long biscuity and bitter aftertaste. This red is definitely an ESB/Bitter, instead of an Amber, Strong Ale, or IPA. Not bad, but not a favorite.
3.3 Very solid esb, medium malt body sweet and full balances bitterness of the indistinct, perfect.
3.8 Pours a clear dark copper color with a big beige head and good lacing. .Nose is malts - very clean and there are floral hops. Medium plus body. The flavor is floral hops on a clean malt backbone. This finish is bitter, and very favorable which sets it apart from many ESBs. Really good
4.0 Very hop forward and that was surprising, but loved the aroma where it shone so brightly. This is a cloudy brew, copper in color and bitter with a nice balance overall. Light tan head, very thin presence and light on the lacing. The body is nice, a very pleasant and light viscosity with a lively, but not too over-evident carbonation. I like the long lasting and spicy presence that doesn’t go overboard with bitterness, but adds enough in for continuity. A very nice representation of an Imperial Red and one I may look for again in the future.
3.3 Draft - Light toasted malts and some caramel. Clear dark copper with a nice beige head. Sweet woody caramel, with some maple notes. Bitter but nice finish. Interesting, but nice.
3.8 22 oz bottle- Pours hazy dark orange with a one finger light tan head that slowly reduces leaving a blanket and some lace. The aroma is caramel malt, spicy hops. The taste is really creamy, smooth and really good actually, caramel candy, mild hops dry things out, salty finish. I am pleasantly surprised by this one, really enjoyed it.
3.2 Dark amber with a thin off-white head. Malty, earthy, herbal and caramel with a suitably bitter finish.
3.1 On tap at Big Texas Beer Fest. Orange pour with a white head. Aroma is hoppy, caramel, and some bread. Taste is bready spice, nice bitterness, and almost mint.
3.1 BTBF. 2003 Cavaliers show was one of my all-time favorites. Pours a clear orange color. Malty nose, grainy, sweet and sugary. Flavor is sweet, tasty and grainy. Splooie
3.3 Bottle at BTBF 2014. Deep amber with a decent cream colored head. Aroma is of malt, leaves, grass and earth. Taste is of herbal hops, malt, caramel, tea, and leaves.
3.7 Sampled at Repeal. I wish I would have had this earlier. Amber with copper. This is a nice Americanized version of an ESB. Those west coast hops are a nice addition to the Noble ones. Malts are just right and are pale and crystal. Nothing like caramel. This is what I want in an American ESB. Unfortunately, I had it after a dozen or so other beers which is not the way this beer should be enjoyed.
3.3 Deep amber with a cream head. Caramel, roasted malts, dough, and toffee. Easy palate, caramel, dough, bitter, sweet finish.
3.6 @ Whole Foods Market / Asheville NC --- Hazy dark ruby amber, long-lasting off-white head, stripes of lace. Taste is malt at the beginning, growing stronger and sweeter through the palate before slowly growing more bitter as it lingers in a very long finish. A satisfying, easy drinking brew. No-Li is doing a lot of things very well. Recommended.
3.3 Slightly cloudy very dark orange, near brown, slight creamy head. Aroma sweet bread malt, earth, woody hops, fruity esters. Taste sweet bready malt, slight bitter earthy, floral hops, fruity esters mid mouth and throughout finish. Mouthfeel medium-light body, low carbonation, nice hop bite, no astingency. Overall, very tasty and drinkable, excellent American interpretation of an ESB.
3.7 22-oz. bottle - Crystal Bitter branding. Not a bad beer, I like bitters, and this one didn’t disappoint.
3.8 22oz bottle. Deep copper color, hazy. Rocky foam. Aroma of crystal malts. Huge malts nose. Loads of caramels, toasted malt sugars, herbal hops. Palate cleansing hops for sure! Full bodied, delicious. Well deserved GABF Gold Medal! (3978)
3.4 22 ounce bottle Thanks to buffalohead for sharing this pretty run of the mill ESB. Depending on the cost and freshness I would probably give NoLi Brewhouse another shot. Hopefully they will continue to do well although around here I am not sure people would notice too much if it were replaced with a different brand. It is one of those interchangeable out of state breweries. Flavor / Palate - A caramel brown base is the color of melted pennies polished to a shine. Ivory white head and carbonation give it good company. Light crystal sugars and Lipton iced tea make this a blend of dry and sweet. It is pleasant although forgettable after a while. Flavor / Palate - Light crystal sugar, like the kind you get on rock candy, tease the palate. Malts sweep into a bitter finish. A decent release is a nice ESB although nothing overly special. I give it somewhat high marks for being an unexpected find but overall this is a dime a dozen example.
3.3 On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a dark amber topped with a sand head. Nose is malts hop bite wood and some caramel notes. Taste is as the nose with a bitter bite and a nice malt finish.
3.7 Pours hazy orange with a small tan head. Aroma is butterish and toasted malty, creamy off white head. Toasted malty and light caramelish. Bitter and light grassy finish. I really like the lesser amount of hops. Well balanced and perfect food match with fish and chips.
4.3 Happy Friday bomber pour at work (microbeerclub.com) Standard burnt orange color on the poor with a nice head. Aromas of caramel, toast and slight hops. The initial taste was killer. More caramel and toastiness. The hops come last with a nice bitter finish. Very clean, very balanced. Quite sessionable.
2.4 I was expecting more hoppiness. A decent red but I've had better. Drinking it with a pizza so maybe that's affecting the experience.
3.4 650 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany color with little head. Faint aromas of vegetables and caramel. Flavors of grass, toasty malts, raisins, and dried orange candy.
3.4 The appearance was a dark red/ruby colored body also slightly transparent with a two finger white foamy head that dies at a nice pace, light lacing that tries to spider web but tends to kinda get a bit messy and all over the place; the aroma has a large amount of English malts that become more "balanced" like an English bitter normally does as it warms, I will admit I believe there’s some "brown sugar" starting to come through in the aroma; the taste is slightly malty like an English bitter should be, but not leaning towards the bitter or malty side; on the palate, its about a light to medium sort of body, slightly sessionable - only as any English bitter can be, carbonation runs really smooth around my tongue and mouth - gets kinda creamy; overall I say this is a good English bitter that I would have again
3.7 650ml bottle, pours cloudy mahogany colored with a medium sized foamy beige head with a decent retention. Aroma of syrup loaf, caramel, prunes, orange peels and a hint of spices. Taste has a light sweetness and medium bitterness. Palate is medium bodied, slightly oily texture and average carbonation. A delicious flavourful ESB, and I especially liked the fruity character of it.
3.2 Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good for the style; a mostly transparent copperish brown with foamy head somewhere between off-white and light beige. Smells semi-sweet and malty with notes of mild hops and candy. More like a barleywine on the nose. Tastes like it smells, but more traditional. Solid on the palate. Not bad, and definitely sessionable.
