We are celebrating our 1000th batch with these two beers. They are quite similar, though the colour differs. They are both brewed with spices, inspired by 1001 night.

3.9 Bottle. Hazy golden body, small whiteish head. Flowery and herbal aroma, spicy forest fruit, pepper, honeysweet malt backbone. Good complexity in taste, mild alcohol heat.

2.7 Very spiced brew, nothing that gets met excited. Company thought it was pleasant, but really not a fan.

3.4 Bottle (25cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Finger-thick short-lived offwhite head. Golden/orange colour, slightly hazy. Spicy and fruity aroma with cardamom, ripe pear, plum. Medium body, soft carbonation, refreshing mouthfeel. Taste is sharply herbal (cloves, menthol) with a pleasantly fruity, and somewhat alcoholic, sweetness. Mild bitterness. Finish is dry and herbal.

4.2 250 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ De Hopduvel. Brew on 18.07.2013. Light hazy golden, very little in the way of head. Nose is sweet cloves, cough drops, very thick spices, caramel, kitchen spices, honey, ginger, lavender, thick malts,… More spices that I cannot name, lots & lots of them. Taste is thick honey caramel malts, sweet biscuit, lavender, thick cloves, cough drops, honey, sweet flowers, touch faint bitter spices amidst the heavy spice sweetness, thick sweet soap, sugar bread,… Thick malt, lower carbonation,… Would love to know the specific spices in this,… It is very heavy on spices, extremely so but fascinating & oddly pleasant at the same time. Interesting beer.

3.6 Pours gold with small white head. Aroma is spicy and fruity. Flavour is spicy, fruity, medium sweet and light bitter. Light to medium carbonation.

3.9 A mézszínű, enyhén opálos különlegesség az Ezeregyéjszaka meséinek hangulatát kívánja megidézni, melyhez speciális összetevőket, egzotikus fűszerek tömkelegét hívja segítségül. Aromái szinte megszínesítik a levegőt, miközben kamilla, levendula, nagy adag mézes gyömbér és egy árnyalatnyi banános-szegfűszeges élesztő illatai kapnak szárnyra. Lehengerlő a komponensek ezerarcú játéka, különb és a célnak jobban megfelelő illatszerkezetet nehezen lehetett volna megfaragni. Pezsgő, citromfüves-gyömbéres ízkavalkád ejt aztán rabul minket, amiben a bájosan édes maláta és borókabogyós komló játékát pazarul színesíti a különféle sejtelmes fűszerek, az édeskömény és koriander vibrálása, az áfonyás gyümölcsösség fanyar éle, majd egy kevés orvosságos karcosság tompa karaktere. Nagyszerűen eltalált, izgalmas ízvilág, melynek megfejtéséhez a 250 milliliternyi mennyiség talán kevésnek bizonyul majd, hiányérzetünk azonban semmi esetre sem lehet az elfogyasztása után.

3.1 (bottle) opalescent golden-amber colour with a frothy white head. aroma of cardamom and pears, heavily resinous, with a touch of cactus juice, maracuja, black pepper and caramel. flavour is more passion fruit and cardamom, with a medium sweetness, lots of alcohol, some herbal hops, yeast and a light-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

3.4 Amber. Sehr kräutrig, frisch. Malzig, süß und kräutrige Noten, fast schon Eukalyptus.

3.8 Gewürziger, rund heller Antrunk. Geringe alkoholische Noten, süffig, rund. Minimale Herbe, leicht fruchtig, gut. 11/12/12/11/11/12

3.6 Aroma is tea, clove, tanin, yeast, earthiness and light spiciness. Taste is a sweet maltiness with caramel tones. Finishes with some spiciness and tanin tones but not too overwhelming.

4.6 Z okazji tysięcznej i tysięcznej pierwszej warki, norweski browar wypuścił dwa jubileuszowe piwa - jasne i ciemne. Właśnie miałem przyjemność wypić to pierwsze. Butelka o pojemności 0,25 wydaje się mała, ale biorąc pod uwagę moc tego trunku - jest to ilość jak najbardziej odpowiednia. W szkle piwo może nie prezentuje się zbyt zacnie, gdyż, zapewne za sprawą zawartości alkoholu, nie udało mi się stworzyć nawet niewielkiej pianki... Za to aromat i smak rekompensują wszystko. Ziołowe nuty, nieznane mi dotąd z piwa wprost uderzały w nozdrza i podniebienie, nie były jednak męczące czy zbyt silne! Nadawały piwu charakter i przyjemnie pozostawały na języku. Smak tego trunku przypomina mi pewien czeski wyrób, mianowicie Beherovkę. Lubiłem niegdyś takie połączenie piwo + 25ml Beherovki. Smak bardzo podobny. Dziś nie potraktowałbym pewnie piwa mocnym alkoholem, ale sentyment pozostał... Warto też dodać, że 10% alkoholu absolutnie nie jest zawartością zbyt dużą. Czujemy, że to szlachetne nuty, a nie spirytusowy posmak! Dla mnie świetne piwo i bardzo udana warka jubileuszowa!!

3.3 Aroma is caramel, resin, herbs, leaves, clove, cough drop, a bit smokey, a bit woody. Very complex mixture of herbs. But first impression was a bit repulsive. Taste is sweet, herbal, fruity esters. Would pair nicely to fish or tartar imo..

3.2 Bottle at home in summer 2014. Clear golden beer with a small white head. Spicy and malty aroma. A bit fruity, spicy and malty flavour.

4.5 How: Bottle. Appearance: Golden hazy color.. Aroma: Fruits, herbs, some smoke . Sweet and spicy finish.

3.8 Bottle from Systembolaget. Spicy smell with cardemon, ginger, coriander and cinnamon. Feels both christmasy and oriental. Sweet and fruity taste with flowers and a similar spicy aroma as the smell. Very spicy but I like the aroma. The body doesn’t quite match the spices. Not overly alcoholic.

3.1 Clear golden brown color, tiny off-white head. Ginger nose, cloves, cardamom, caramel malt, bread, brown sugar. Sweet and spicy taste, cinnamon, fruity, hints of yeast and alcohol, dry finish. Medium to full body, soft to flat carbonation, oily texture. Somewhat disappointing.

3.6 Bottle. Pours clear golden with a small white head. High malty with loads of exotic spices. Cinnamon and cardemon. Sweet malty with spicy notes. Some hoppy notes. Lemongrass and cinnamon. I like.

3.2 Bottle - Sweet fruity esters, spice and a syrupy sweetness. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Sweet fruity esters, boozy and some spice. Sweet and yeasty.

3.0 Bottle. Pours toffee golden, with a small airy head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts with grain , honey and heather, as well as over-ripe fruits, wood, and spices with cardamom and camphor. Full body with soft to none carbonation. Flavour is sweet roasted malts with notes of wood and bread, sweet spices, as well as flowery heather and honey, and quite hot notes alcohol. Sweet grainy finish.

3.6 Bottle: Thanks Tony_Gorilla: Served in a Chouffe glass: Small white head. Hazy orange colored. Aroma is full of spices: nutmeg, ginger, sprinkle of pepper, light clove tint, some herbs... Flavours of herbs, different spices, light malts, light bitter... Mostly spices but not spicy. And it is quite balanced. Aftertaste is a mix of different spices... Low carbo, silky mouthfeel, medium to fuller bodied and a creamy light sticky texture.

3.5 250ml bottle at home. Pours murky lemon orange. Little or no head. Aroma is sweet banana, bread, clove, cinnamon, orange, pot pouri, hint of cabbage. Flavour is caramel sweet, cinnamon with dry bitter finish. Low carbonation and a fair hit if alcohol heat on finish. Body is medium. It’s interesting if nothing else.

3.1 Bottle, 10%. Hazy orange/amber with tiny white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, spices, herbs with notes of alcohol. Flavour is malt, caramel, spices, medium sweet, herbs, fruit, notes of alcohol with a little biter.

3.9 250ml bottle, pours hazy golden brown, aroma has a nice caramel malt backbone, with lots of herbal character, clove and ginger, with lime. Balances very impressively, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, full body, sticky, soft carbonation. Unusual and decent.

4.0 Gave i boks sammen med nøgne ø 1001. Herlig krydret duft og smaken. Alkoholen passer godt inn i helheten. Oppleves som mer balsnsert enn nøgne ø 1001.

3.2 Bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Clear golden beer with a small offwhite head. Spicy aroma, ginger and clove, floral, curry (?), grassy, some herbal notes. Spicy ginger and clove flavor, peppery, hay, lemongrass. A bit too spicy to really suit me.

2.7 Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours clear golden with a small offwhite head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is herbal and heavy spicy with biscuits, ginger, sassafras, hay, curaçao, lemon zest and cinnamon. Taste is sweet, bitter and heavy spicy with biscuits, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, alcohol and hints of sassafras. Mouthfeel is spicy astringent, slightly boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and heavy spicy with biscuits, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, sassafras, hay, lemon zest and alcohol. Meh…

3.2 250mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a tiny head. Nose is very spicy and earthy, with lots of twigs, earthy notes, and a various mix of autumn spices that I can’t really pick out. Flavour doesn’t taste as spicy, and more Belgian yeast-heavy, with lots of floral notes, candied sugar and just a touch of the spice. Really well-made, exceeding my expectations (was expecting a spicy mess). Finished with a warming effect from the alcohol. Very enjoyable stuff.

3.9 Bottle at barely legal tasting room Pours unclear blonde , no real head . Smell is spices , orange zest as well as some lemon . Perfumy . Potpourri . Taste is sweet , bitter , spices , gentle yet intense . Very balanced . Good carbo . Herbal . Nice !

3.6 25 cl bottle. Pours dark golden with an medium offwhite head. Aroma of some sort of berries, spices and alcohol. Flavour of berries, alcohol, spices and some citrus. Full body and medium carbonation.

3.5 Flaska från SB. Gyllenfärgad, klar, lite kolsyra eller skum. Söt, parfymerad kryddig doft, lite kryddig kaksmet. Söt smak med alkoholvärme och kryddighet. Torkad ingefära, kanel, apelsinskal, paradisfrön, saffran, söta äpplen. Någonstans åt en söt oljig kryddig belgisk sak och en hyfsad sådan sak.
