3.8 @ISKTR 2017, batch 05203. Kiitos (taas) Vesa. Musta, hapoton, vaahdoton. Huipputuote.
3.5 500 ml bottle. #05203. Courtesy of Euphemos. At the ISKTR’17. Dark brown color with no head to talk about. Roasted malt, licorice, molasses, alcohol, mild smoke and sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is boozy with licorice, sweetness, roasted malt and molasses.
4.0 Bottle 50cl @ ISKTR ’17. Bottle #05203. Pours black with no head. Rich, nutty, sweet, licorice aroma. Alcohol, sweet, dark fruits, licorice in theflavour.
3.4 50cl bottle @ ISKTR 2017. Bottle #05203. Thanks Euphemos! Poured pitch black with almost no head. Roastedness, wood, tobacco notes and licorice. Flavor mostly licorice, wood, salty notes and tobacco. Boozy finish. Past its prime. Still nice to try this.
Herlig kraftig avslutning. Ønsker meg en til...
3.1 Bottle shared by Björn thanks. No head and clear red black color. Rubber aroma and dark roasted malty aroma. Huge roasted malty taste. The roasted malt give a malt bitterness that together with hop bitterness blends and balance the big body.
3.6 Bottle - Vintage 2009 - Smoke and some woody notes with umami. Deep dark brown with no head. Tons of raw wood and some smoke. Slick body and very woody finish.
4.1 Pours black/ Brown . Bo real head. Smell is bit boozy. Taste is Sharp, intense, dark malts. Sharp boozy. In a sweet way. Honey. Very different. Very Nice ! Very balanced, and so drinkable to be 16 ℅
4.3 Bottle, dated November 5, 2007, so this beauty is 9 years old. Cheers, spacecoyote! This has held up remarkably well -- there’s only the tiniest hint of oxidization, and there’s still more than enough burnt chocolate / roasted malt bitterness to counter the sweetness of that huge malt bill. It’s boozy but not hot, and all of the different flavors meld together fantastically.
4.2 Bottle from Alko. Rated at Hanniku’s cave 2.0. Pours pitch black with low head. Aroma is roasted malts, burned, alcohol, dark coffee, dark chocolate, tobacco, dark fruits. Flavor is mostly same. Still quite rude beer after 8 years of maturation. Still... Swell!
3.8 Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours out black topped with a ring of fire I mean tan fiz. Nose is big booze rich malts lots of barrel presents ash did I mention booze. Taste is hot so hot with booze barrel notes chocolate pit fruit and ash.
3.5 Bottle. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma is vinous, dark fruits, olives, booze, overripe fruits. Taste is malty, dark fruits, ashy, chocolate, booze, caramel, bitter finish.
4.4 Bottle. Pours pitch black and generates a brown head if poured from on high, but at almost 8 years old it dissappears very fast. Aroma of roasted malts, fruits and alcohol. Taste is of roasted malts, dark dried fruits - like prunes and raisins, chocolate, resin, licorice, wood, molasses, soy sauce and alcohol. Very complex. Has a very long finish of roasted malts, wood and alcohol. Body is above medium but is surprisingly thin for a 16% beer. Very little carbonation but that’s to be expected I guess. Very good though - a real slow sipper.
4.3 Thank you Yngwie for sharing tha bottle - Black with a dark brown head - Sweet dark malt aroma with dark fruits and some coffee notes - Dark amlt body with some dark fruity tones and some coffee flavours , and some nice alcohol heat in the back - The dark malts and fruity tones goes into a warm finish - This was real good
4.1 Bottle shared, thanks Jonno. Wow, this is a beast, feels like a barrel-aged spiced Porto wine, lots of dark cherry, oak and whiskey, long complex finish. Devilicious stuff, to be sipped and enjoyed at a gentleman’s pace.
4.1 Bottle shared at a tasting. Thanks Jonno. This bottle is 8 to 9 years old. Lots of booze and dark fruit in the nose: plum, raisin, prune, cassis. Lots of deep, rich flavors of wood and booze in the nose as it warms. Body has thinned out, with very little carbonation but wow, what a nice aged beer. More booze and fruit in the mouth with a long lasting and coating finish. Fantastic.
4.1 Bottle. Thanks Jonno. Big boozy aroma, rum, fruity. Taste is good, very fruity, rich, raisins, some roast. Nice stuff.
4.1 Wow! Pours dark brown and with very little head. Well, this boy is around 9 years old. Nose is really hitting you with booze and all those barrel aged dark fruits and molasses. Taste is aggressively boozy, full of flavours, dark fruits soaked in some liquor. Flavours have still been preserved after the ageing and come out clear and shining. Body has become thinner but overall totally amazing.
3.9 Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Black beer with a dark brown head. Wow! Only downfall is the quick disappearance of the foamy head... Aroma is a mix of liquorice, mocha, roast, fudge, soy, pudding, bit boozy, marzipan, some coffee, dark chocolate, hint of aftershave and caramel. Flavour is a mix of bitters, roast, tiramisu, nuts, dark chocolate, light boozy, cacoa, nutty, tobacco, liquorice, light fudgy, some mocha and caramel... Aftertaste is roast, dark chocolate, tobacco, light dry, bitter, herbal roast and fudge... Low carbo, light watery lighter creamy mouthfeel, full body.
4.0 Bottle courtesy of Camons. Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish with lots of warming alcohol. Oily. 011115
4.0 3 oz bottle pour at ChurchKey shared by solidfunk, thanks Josh! Black with no noticeable head. Aromas of smoke, caramel, chocolate, whiskey. Tastes of chocolate, smoke, whiskey, coffee. Medium-full body with a dry finish.
3.8 Lots of roast and some smoke. Dark chocolate and booze. Thick pour but not necessarily syrupy. Bitter finish with some boozy sweetness. Black pour without much head. Bottle pour at Churchkey.
3.6 Bottle @ Home. Pours pitch black with a fading brown head, setling to a small ring of foam, some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, dried dark fruit, plum, figs, alcohol. Flavor is rather sweet, malt, sweet dried dark fruit, plum, figs, dark chocolate, licorice, boozy, wood. Medium body, quite high carbonation for the ABV, sweet finish with lots of alcohol. 301015
3.5 Bottle sample @ BAJT. Pours viscous pitch black with a small mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace while dissipating. Smell is malty and fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, dark roast coffee, chocolate syrup, raisins, dates, leather, moist soil and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, salty and malty. Mouthfeel is viscous, round, roasted astringent, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, syrupy coffee and chocolate, raisins, dates, brandy, ketjap manis, cardboard and alcohol. Time has taken its toll but still a fairly good heavy IS. Was most likely quite good many years ago.
4.0 500 ml bottle with a nice aluminum case. This was brewed in about 2008!! Bottle stamped number 5493. AdamC with another crazy share! Pitch black with no carbonation (obviously). Aroma is dark chocolate and still showing a solid amount of alcohol. Hints of molasses, dark fruit. The viscosity of this stout is crazy! As you swirl the snifter, it leaves an oily film, same as it is across the palate. Flavor is notes of tobacco leaves, mild dark fruit, dark chocolate, espresso bean and perhaps anise. The mouthfeel is full with that slick film over the palate. This is an 8 year old brew and it is NOT a mess. The booze preserved the stout nicely. A touch hot from booze with alcohol but it truly helped preserve this stout, wow!
3.9 Acquired in a trade 3 years ago, split 3 ways at cellar temperature today. Small bottle for a big tin. A - Good cap whisp. Sounds full of carbonation but pours a small head. Pitch black and thick. S - The aroma is pretty awesome. A lot of vanilla, coconut and dark chocolate fudge. Bourbon presence is big but everything is well integrated. T - Taste is very nice. Chocolate, fudge, some oak smoke, char taste with a faded coffee bean and maybe some raisin. There’s a lot of flavor here. Well integrated and actually slightly oxidized but it’s minimal. M - Thick and oily, tiny carbonation bubbles O - I’m very impressed by how well this held up. A big beer but it really did well over the last 7 years. Fantastic but I’d drink it soon if you have a bottle.
3.6 Jet black in colour, espresso brown head that quickly disappeared as the alcohol took over. The alcohol in this beer is very dominant both in the aroma and the taste, but getting around this there were some deep dark aromatic tones to enjoy, dark roasted malt, dark ripened fruits and some burnt character. Very powerful in your face aromas of coffee, with dark prunes, raisins and possibly a hint of dark bitter chocolate.
4.0 Black with tan head. Moldy basement, spicy alcohol, leather and brown sugar. Spicy, roasted malt, vanilla, coffee and mold. Overall: great experience! Mold blends well with stout.
4.5 Black as midnight on a moonless night. Lukt av røstet malt, sjokolade, kaffe, lakris og sjokolade. Smak av røstet malt, karamell, sjokolade, kaffe, lakris, og krydder.
