4.3 Nøgne Ø Klin Kokos, Provdatum: 2008-06-12, flaska, Göteborg Luktar inte speciellt upphetsande men smaken mmmmm kokos vem kunde tro att Hawaii insperande smaker kunde passa. Fantastiskt bryggeri Anteckningar: Köp!
2.9 Headless and black. All I really tasted or smelled was cocoanut with a little roasted malt. The finish was not to my liking Thanks to akkevit for this.
3.7 Interesting nose of coconut, roast, and some noticeable alcohol. Smells like barrel perhaps, even though it is not. Perhaps its lightly tart, that might be it. Dark brown pour, thin tan head. Flavors of roast, a touch tart, some coconut sweetness shows up as well. Roasty dry finish. Nice use of coconut in the base beer as it does not overwhelm, it just makes its presence known.
3.2 Bottle:   Black, thin light beige head, little lacing.   Faint Vanilla on top of charred malts, little campfire and charred wood/ash.   Roasty on the tongue, a little thin but flavorful.   Large amounts of ash on the backside.   Could stand to be a bit heavier.   Some lactose like sweetness on the exit.   This one just isn’t doing it for me.   Too ashy.   Wished the vanilla came through more on the tongue but it didn’t.
3.5 Bottle as Klin Kokos. Pours really dark brown with a three finger dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate over dark malt and dark fruit. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is bubble gum? over dark malt and dark fruit and coffee. Nutty. This is far off the normal track. Some medium dark chocolate comes forth after a bit. There are spicey notes. All in all this is very uncommon stuff.
4.0 Pours black with a light brown short lived head. Aroma of chocolate, cappucino, coffee and faint alcohol. Flavor is sweet and roasted coffee. Remarkably short finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Smooth milky texture. Easy to drink. A delight! We discovered after a while that it was 5 months past it’s date, but there was no damage to the beer. Brewed in 2005.
2.3 (Klin Kokos) Bottle in Copenhagen, bought at Barley Wine. The color was almost pitch black, the foam was thick with a nice tan color. At first I thought the aroma reminded somewhat of a sour version of the swedish Christmas soft drink called "Julmust". The aroma and taste of coconut was weak. The beer was sweet, a little sour and rather thin. Worst beer from Nøgne Ø which I have tasted.
3.0 Bottled @ Cardinal. Pours almost pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of coconut ,chocolate and vanilla. Taste is smooth, coconut, roasted dark malts and some bitterness, included some sour notes.
2.7 Bottle of unknown vintage, Klin Kokos #1396 - Thanks BuckeyeBoy! - Pours dk brown with a medium tan head...aroma is dry and toasty, grainy with touches of dark fruit...flavour is incredibly odd, olive brine, oil, roasted wood, maybe some coconut but I just didn’t get it, dark fruity malt in taste as well, didnt care for this one at all but I was the minority...
3.0 (Klin Kokos): Bottle - thanks to BuckeyeBoy. Dark brown pour with a bubbly brown head. Sweet and potent aroma is full of coconut oil / extract. Kinda boozey. Taste is sweet and malty, light roast and faint coconut. Nutty. Gets a little watery in the end...
3.5 24-OCT-2009, bottle @home. Past drink before date Klin Kokos. That gave me a 20% reduction at Barley Wine. Cannot imagin it could be better in its youth? Brown, with nice lasting head. Curious, I put my nose in the glass. Is it really coconut? Yes, it is. If not from Nøgne Ø, where would you find that acceptable? Well, dependant on wether you like coconut or not, you may like it or hate it. I am sceptical, but it is no way near sun oil, just a nice, but still funny coconut flavour. The palate is somewhat watery in the middle, but the aftertaste is quite nice. Not strong, not very burnt, just a nice little porter with coconut:-)
2.0 Vintage of Klin Kokos from Barley wine, Copenhagen, DK. Brown with small head. Aroma of coconut and roasted malt. Flavor of old coconut fat and some vanilla.
3.3 Dark brown with small diminishing head. Aroma of coconut, vanilla, booze. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, coconut, tons of vanilla extract. Has kind of a hard alcohol after taste like vodka. Very interested. Pallet is medium.
3.1 Bottle labeled Klin Kokos. Pours black with thin light brown head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts. There is a faint hint of chocolate and coconut. Roasted malt flavor with very little coconut and chocolate. Somewhat bitter finish. Thin body with little carbonation. This was pretty disappointing. I was hoping for much more chocolate and coconut.
2.5 16oz bottle. Pours a nice black with almost no head. Some lacing. Aroma is vague chocolate and roasted nuts (not so much coconut but its there) roasty and peaty smokey notes. This is where it all goes wrong. Flavor is horrible smokey water. Almost no coconut. The body is non existant. Its a watery mess with acrid smokey bitterness. This is just a completely misfire from a usually solid brewery. Can’t be a bad bottle either cause there are no signs of infection. Just bad brewing. The first group tasting where we unanimously decided to drainpour. Wow that was bad. Rating is way higher than it deserves as the beer is almost undrinkable.
3.6 Bottle… O’sS&BS-I-T-YVBThrowdown… Pours pitch black with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention and cool lacing. Spicy aroma is also a touch chocolaty and offers up some coconut. Medium to full-bodied and lightly creamy with subdued carbonation. The flavor is well-balanced. Coconut and chocolate essences abound. Watery, lightly bitter, mildly tangy finish. Thanks to smith4498 for providing this bottle!
3.6 Bottle #1398 of 1550 with the Klin Koko’s lable. Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a light tan head. Aroma of coconut all over. Along with some sweet chocolate and vanilla. Tast was more of the coconut not as strong as the aroma. A nice dark roast and some lite bitterness. I don’t think it is posible that this beer is just A Nother name for the Porter???
3.7 Bottle 1133, labeled as Klin Kokos. Lots of coconut in the aroma. Dry coconut flavor with moderately roasted malt. Very rich, smooth, and heavy like their standard porter. Some sediment in the beer. Thick, full mouthfeel. I liked it.
2.8 Bottle #1133 of 1550 labeled as Klin Kokos, courtesy of akevitt. Pours an opaque dark brown body with light brown head. Interesting aroma and flavor of dark malts, cocoa, and coconut. I didn’t really care for this as much as the regular Nøgne Ø Porter. Body is somewhat light. Finishes with an odd medicinal taste.
3.5 From 500ml bottle (1133/1550) as Nøgne Ø Klin Kokos and shared by Akevitt, pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin film top and no ring. Aroma of scrappy coconut, a hint of chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of yeast. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation, with flavors of toasted coconut, light chocolate, vanilla, and some wood. Finish is semi-dry with a toasted dark malt and coconut aftertaste.
3.5 Scandinavian Beer Night. Bottle as Klin Kokos, 1133/1550. Again, thanks to Akevitt. Black color with no head. Solid coconut aroma. Strong, sweet coconut flavor, almost tasting like toasted coconut. Moderate roasted malt.
3.6 Pours opaque blackish brown with a lacy tan head. Coconut, chocolate and bourbon barrel in the aroma. Chocolate, wood and coconut taste with a bit of smoke on the finish.
2.9 Bottle. has the right consistency and mouthfeel, but the flavor profile and aroma are definitely unique. Total dominance by some components that must be the coconut but could easily be some Yves St laurent perfume. Kind of distracting from the rest, I could not discern much else except some chocolate perhaps. Good to drink once for the novelty but not something I would buy again.
3.5 Klin Kokos bottle (50 cl). Pours a dark colour with a small dark foam. Had a sweet smell of cocos and chocolate. The taste was also sweet with some nutty cocos. Nice, but the the taste was very short and dissapeared fast after reaching the tongue.
3.3 Klin Kokos bottle. Smells and tastes of cocos, sweetness and some macro brew stout. Interesting but I rememerd it better when I had it about a year ago.
3.7 Klin Kokos bottle. Look: Darkbrown. Aroma/taste: Roasted cocos, powerful sweetness (like some kind of rum). Little too sweet and thin. Still a nice and interesting beer.
3.7 Klin Kokos bottle. Brown / black pour with very little light brown head. Vanilla rum aroma, maybe a little chocolate and light roast. Flavor is the same, tastes like it was aged in rum barrels or something like that. Some sweet caramel malt / lightly roasted shows up in the finish.
3.7 Labeled as Klin Kokos, bottle. Pours black, bit of soapy tan head. Nose is coconutty, like someone mixed a bit of perfumey pina colada in with a very dry porter. Not really bitter or hoppy, just dry. Flavor follows suit - a reserved porter, dry, not quite roasty but almost, with a big coconut note that isn’t quite natural tasting emerging towards the finish and bashing down any chance of a substantive malt body. Layered. It isn’t bad, by any stretch - to be honest, I was really sold on this by the time I finished. I would have been more than happy to drink another. The coconut presence is bigger than expected, spicy, carrying hints of vanilla, and coupled with a dry malt note that’s roasty in a completely non-assertive sort of way, makes for an interesting beer. Really? Really.
3.4 Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Toffee and atrt berry aroma with some spice. Spice, and toffee flavor with light fruit and light cocoa. Medium bodied. Spice, toffee, and light fruit lingers. Coconut becomes more pronounced as you drink more and the beer warms.
1.7 Bottle as Klin Kokos. A black beer with a beige head. Heavily roasted coffee beans together with dark chocolate and very artificial and perfumy coconut on the nose. The flavour is messed up by the artificial coconut which hides the much nicer notes of chocolate and coffee. Also a hint o butter. Not my cup of beer!
