To enhance the flavor of our Sunturnbrew, we aged it in bourbon barrels for a year. We think it was a good year!

4.1Barwa brązowo brunatna, nieprzezroczysta, mętna, z pływającymi kawałkami drożdży. Piana zaledwie w postaci minimalnego krążka. W aromacie dominuje wanilia i stara dębowa beczka, odrobina nut czerwonego wytrawnego wina, dojrzałej wiśni i drogiej whiskey. Szalenie przyjemny, bogaty i intensywny.
Mocna rzecz, wybitnie degustacyjna.
2.7Säuerlich malziger Antrunk mit deutlichen Bourbonnoten. Harte Aromenübergänge, spät würzig. Das geht runder. 9/8/7/8/11/8
2.6On the nose it was very peaty, smoky and has a nice whisky touch to it. The mouth feel was a bit of a disappointment, quite thin, very little sweetness, lot of bitter tones to it that do not really go well with this peaty aroma in my opinion.
Bastante buena.
3.5From old notes. From tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Brown color with light beige head. Malty aroma, caramel, bready, fruity, smoked, wood, light alcohol. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation
3.7Bottle at home. Dark brown pour, almost no head. Aroma is loads of peat, caramel, licorice, whiskey and sugary. Flavor is a bit thin, quite harsh, but with a very nice smooth peaty bourbon afterburn. Nice.
3.2Bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours a murky brown with a thin head which quickly vanishes. Body is medium with low carbonation. Aroma is heavily preated mixed with smoked ham, slight bourbon and brown sugar. Taste is like peated whisky and lots of oak. Wasn't my favourite to be honest
3.7(Bottle) Dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with notes of black rye bread, bourbon wood, liquorice, soy sauce, smoked ham, hints of chocolate, peat smoke and a touch of red wine. Malty, smoky, vinous finish with black rye bread, oak wood, vanilla, liquorice, soy sauce, peat smoke, some chocolate, orange peel, hints of red wine and a vinous, peaty finish with a slight acidity and a balanced bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Soft and velvety mouthfeel. Quite complex but, in a way, all over the place. Interesting and really nice.
3.6Bottle at Craig’s. Pours dark brown, nose is caramel, bourbon, toffee, vanilla, taste is similar, sweet.
3.7250ml bottled July 2012. Dark red, opaque, small ring of off-white head. Aroma is lemon sherbet, sherry. Body is light, foamy, low-ish carbonation. Taste has smoke and bourbon up front, and then some sherbet sourness, TCP. Smoke and tart fruit is the general impression. Dry, acidic finish. Seems more like a red wine and whisky aged beer than bourbon. Nice.
3.8Nice fizz on smokey beer. Some pepper in the back. Alcohol hides well. Good beer

3.4This is the first smoked beer that I have tried, and it was pretty unique. Heavy smoke and wine aroma, with a sour, malty, and smoky taste. Really good aftertaste, reminds me of smoke bacon, in a good way.
3.9Dark malt oak and booze.. lots od caramel and creamt sugar..
very sweet. Low carbs a d a looooong dark oaky finish...
goood
3.1250ml bottle - thanks VastActiv and the rest of the Hel crowd!
Smells heady, and a little sour, and with very rich sweet malts. Dark, almost no nead. A bit weird, and definitely hot in the mouth. Anna thinks its better integrated than I do, to me it’s a bit hot, and the aging hasn’t mellowed it enough. Sour aspect a little off-putting.
3.4(Bottle, 0.25 l, courtesy of VastActiv, 20141122) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had vanilla, liquorice and booze. Palate was full bodied and dry with mediim carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, smoke, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had barrel and bitterness. A boozier version of the original.
3.5Bottle 0.25l at home, Helsinki. Best before 17/07/2017. Colour is dark brown with very small head. Aromas and flavours: Smoke, dark fruits, some sweetness, syrup and malts.
3.6250ml bottle
Pours dark brown with a tiny head. Aroma of smoked malts, wood, oak, bourbon and vanilla. Taste is sweetish, tartish and smoky with loads of wood, oak and vanilla. Finish is woody, oaky and smoky with hints of leather and vanilla. A bit unbalanced.
3.4Bottled@AIH40 (from Vinmonopolet Kirkenes). Deep ambery brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is smoked wood, some sour wood, mild sweetness as well as some toasted notes. Flavour is wooden, some smoked notes, mild tartness and sourness as well. Also slight raisins and plummy notes as it warms up.
3.0Bottled 25cl (Vinmonopolet, AIH40)
Dark brown color, small beige head. Aroma is a bit cellary, woody, smoke, alcoholic with hints of toffee and malts. Medium-bodied. Strong alcohol, whiskey, wood, smoke and cellary notes. I think that barrel aging has not improved ths beer.
3.3Red-brown color, beige head. Coffee nose, roasted malt, dried fruit, wood. Light smoked taste, cured meat, sweet malty, hint of alcohol, moderate to heavy sweetness. Medium body, soft carbonation.
3.6Bottle. Pours dark brown in color with a small off-white head. Upfront there’s some notes of charcoal, smoked vanilla, bit of peat and vinegar in aroma. Some roasted and sweet notes are present as well, there might be some dark red fruityness lingering beneath too. Tastewise there’s a nice mix of peat and vanilla with some notes of peppery spicyness at first. Bit of salty and smokey notes are on the move too. Bit of sweet boozyness in the end. As a sipper this works to a certain way, but I’d prefer the original Sunturnbrew over this one though.
3.8BOTTLE 25 CL from Cuningham.
Look: dark ruby-brown, hazy, minuscule beige head.
Aroma is intense, an eclectic mix of smoked prunes, whisky, more smoke, some acidity, nutty iodine. The bourbon is quite string, but well integrated.
Taste: Fruit sweetness with substantial acidity, smoked prunes though the smoke is not as strong as in aroma.well integrated whisky, nutty iodine, not quite alcoholic but you can feel the warmth and spice. An interesting and unique, but bizarre beer. Needs getting used to.
4.1Bottle. Dark brown body with a small light brown head. Aroma of leather, smoked malt, wood, bourbon. Taste is strong and complex, peat, vanilla, dark fruit, light spicy, licorice. Robust peated finish with alcohol notes, rich warm smoked and fruity aftertaste. Excellent.
3.6Bottle. Pours Brown almost black colour with beige head. Roasty caramel smell. Sour lemon, blackberries, plums, smoke, rubber. This was surprisingly weird, but I have only tasted a pair of barley wines,
