3.8 Pours hazy dark orange with white top. Nose is hops and orange fruits. Taste is funk and dried fruits, with peach and oats ind the beginning and with a dry grapefruit finish. Enjoyed in Bryggen, Bergen. Thanks for tip Dedollewaitor.
3.3 Gyllen uklar farge.
3.7 Dark golden color, blurred, yellowish foam. Aroma: sweet and fruity, citrus, needles, white port wine. Sweet taste, citrus, needles, fruity, slightly earthy, solid bitterness, good.
4.1 Bottle 0.50L. Hazy, dark golden color with small, frothy, long lasting white head. Fruity aroma of grapefruit, tangerine, peach as well as grassy flowers. Taste starts moderate bitter with taste of some bitter liquor and full body. Finish is medium to heavy bitter with a lot of hops and noticable alcohol warmth. This beer is well rounded with creamy texture and soft carbonation.
3.2 4 months old. BB: three years! Are you crazy? Hazy orange, not completely opaque. White head, two fingers, good retention. Difficult to see the carbonation because of the haze. Texture is almost creamy with soft fizz. Aroma is ripe orange, caramelised malts, resin, meaty hints, fermented peach. Taste is the same. Soft sweetness. Hint of acidity. Lots of resiny bitterness at the end that stays in mouth for a while. Alcohol is noticeable but it's not disgusting. Resin and soft alcohol in aftertaste. Not bad but obviously aged hops and similar to a American -hopped- Barley Wine.
2.8 Old rating from BeerBuddy
4.2 Omalaatuinen
3.9 Rød/gul farge,hvit/Beige skum,lukt grapefrukt og ananasjus,god fylde.
4.0 Piwo koloru pomarańczy wchodzące w bursztyn, zamglone, piana dość duża, zdobi szkło. W aromacie pierwsze skrzypce grają nuty lasu, potem trochę owoców głównie cytrusowych. W smaku średnia goryczka chmielowa, głównie iglaki, trochę ale niewiele nut owocowych. Solidna IIPA
2.4 Review: 0,33l brown bottle of Nøgne Ø Two Captains Double IPA: 8.5% vol. Interesting brown bottle with a logo that looks a bit hisptery, an “avant garde” style.  On pour looks great, a lovely amber colour and a small but decent white head. Doesn't look too bad at all, very inviting. The white head although small does maintain very well, small but steady, Some good lacing apparent. It really is a good looking beer, lovely to watch it swirl about in the glass, has a deep look, that captivates. Very good so far! The smell was also lovely, had the "wow factor", gorgeous in fact. Deep smelling, IPA style, like a good ale, floral and hop notes, but the citrus and lemon stand out a lot here. Also got a nice whiff of caramel.  The aroma is a nice combination of lemonade and fermented fruit drenched in alcohol. Amazing on the nose, a very seductive smell and one so powerful they could sell as a perfume.  So to the taste, and well........wow! It is very strong in the taste, all that double hopping has produced one hell of a strong tasting beer. Hopped to hell, and very, very bitter, very strong in the taste. All a bit "urgh" to me, finding those hops are just impossible to enjoy, going down very slowly and with great difficulty. Too strong and bitter to truly appreciate or enjoy. One for the hardcore IPA heads to like, but not for me. And to be fair to them they do warn on their website that this isn't for the faint hearted.. The extreme bitterness (100 IPU) is very overwhelming, killing everything in its reach. Got the hops for sure, but also found the caramel, the fruits and the sweet malts.  Very strong in the alcohol too, they are using English ale yeast so therein lies the strength of this brew, can feel it for sure, and don't mind admitting I was a bit pissed after the two bottles. The 8.5% is definitely alive and well here, all clean though. I can imagine downing a few of these bad boys you would be on your head in no time! But I wonder if it is possible to drink more than two with how bitter and disgusting they are? Best avoided.........
3.7 Bottle shared by Tmoney99 from backlog notes (2011). Pours a hazy deep amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, citrus and earthy hops, orange, early this was a DIPA but when I had it later it became a barleywine.
3.6 An orange beer with a medium sized white head. Aroma is citrusy and pine. Taste is malty sweet and hoppy. A bit too heavy on the caramel.
4.5 Trübes, bernsteinfarben. Sehr hazig, würziger Geschmack. Durchwegs starke Hopfenaromen. Im ganzen sehr rund und harmonisch.
1.8 Aged hops, biscuits and booze, the bitterness is overwhelming and like a pallet killer. Not my cup of tea
4.0 Aroma appelsin grapefrukt humle. Utseende uklar gylden med offwhite skum. Smak appelsin grapefrukt karamell humle malt. Fruktig og bitter. Flaske smakt Januar 2013, 50cl 8,5%
3.8 Pours almost clear amber with low white head. Aromas of tropical fruits, resin, caramel, pine. Taste has notes of caramel, tropical fruits, sweet bread, resin
4.5 Golden/amber color, cloudy unfiltred liquid and nice head... Hoppy aroma with malt notes in the end. Taste is an explosion of bitterness coming from hops and sweet caramel finish. What a great double IPA... :-)
3.9 0,33cl bottle, pours semi-hazy golden with white head. Aroma of pine needles, peaches, passion fruit, citrus peel, loads of bitter hops. Taste is immediately a little bit of malty with lot of bitter hops, bitter orange and herbs pops up. Finishes with bitter orange and passion fruit.
4.5 (passion-physa-mangue, miel, malt, sirupeuse, dense, > fruitée-fleurie, fast-dry, harmony, orange confite, pin)
3.7 Tropical fruit, fresh peach, orange aroma. Hazy golden color with small sized white head. Fresh, fruity, bit boozy. Heavy bitterness but well packed. Medium body, lively carbonation. Bitter orange and grapefruit finish. //bottle
4.0 Aroma fruit, citrus, grass. Taste - a citrus. It is a little bitterness. When heating in taste and aroma honey appears.
3.9 Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with a two fingers thick, orangy white head. Piney and malty sweet aroma, some honey. Taste is balanced bittersweet, malty sweet at first, hoppy bitter in the finish and aftertaste. No alcohol traces. Syrupy mouthfeel, sippable but drinkable also. Leaves my lips sticky. Old school DIPA, very well done, no surprises or special effects but I can't complain at all.
