Nomad Freshie Salt 'n' Pepper Gose

Nomad Freshie Salt 'n' Pepper Gose

Inspired by our local beach - Brewed with sea water harvested from our local Freshwater beach. Traditionally Goses are slightly tart, savoury and spicy ( coriander), and light in body and ABV. At Nomad we tried to get as close as possible to traditional Gose as far as malts, yeast and salt dosage and we obviously gave it our very own Nomad character adding sea water and Tasmanian pepper berries.

3.5 Into a stange, chilled. Hazy, yellow orange body. Headless and still looking. Initial aroma of self raising flour and leavened dough wanes quickly to reveal lemon pepper, lemon peel, candied pineapple, brine and wheat. Salty palate with a lot more going on than most modern examples. Upfront, juicy, lemon and tangerine carries into a tangy, tart but sweet fruit finish. The sharpness of salt softened by the fermentation esters. Medium light body with spritzy light carbonation. Dances across the tongue. A flavour of peaches builds. The pepperberries give it a mild earthiness and astringency late, and heat to the finish. Surprised how much I like this one. A tight and sessionable little number. (33cL can, BBE 12/18, 1st Choice Liquor, Willetton)
3.1 Can. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity sour salty aroma. Fruity sour salty citrus flavor. Has a fruity sour tart salty finish.
3.0 330 ml can @Bumble Inn, Peterborough. Golden, slightly hazy. Nose - some coriander, lemon perhaps. Taste- sweet, unremarkable. Pepper comes prominently in finish and aftertaste. I couldn't find a single grain of salt.
3.7 Can sample at a tasting at Tom's place. Thanks Dror. Hazy yellow with big bubbly white head. The aroma has notes of herbs, sage, pepper, jojoba and spices. The flavor is mild sweet, a bit salty with notes of sage, very herbal, some spices and some fruitiness. Medium-bodied.
3.1 I was afraid of this beer...very afraid; but I knew the time had come to Ratebeer.com it! 3 days in fridge looking at me, C'mon sucker. I'm a salt n' pepper squid beer ! [see label]. This salt n' pepper Gose lives up to it's promises and the sea water is just fine, not scary at all. Murky golden pour with light flat head and carbonation. Balanced light spice of coriander seeds and light malts, with salt. The pepper is under pronounced; but that said I have been tasting a Beef Vindaloo on the stove so my pepper tasting abilities maybe clouded. An unpredictably fine beer.
3.4 Shared bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a large fizzy white head. Aroma and flavor of lime, tart fruit, coriander, salt. No Tasmanian pepper to note. Refreshing.
3.4 Aroma: fruity and lightly funky; not a traditional gose; Appearance: hazy yellow pour with thin white head; Taste: follows nose with some saltiness; not picking up any pepper but interesting; Palate: light body with short finish; Overall: different but pretty good. But would probably not get again.
3.4 Tap at The Junkyard Nottingham. Pours hazy to cloudy yellow with white lace top. Aroma lemon coriander and I guess pepper. Taste is juicy medium sweet to sour. Palate is medium bodied, oily feel, average carbonation, and a finish that stains the palate. I would argue against seawater as a base ingredient for beer in principle but hope to survive.
3.3 At Tom's Place, pours yellow with a small head, aroma of lemon, salt, flavor of lemon, salt, malt, medium bodied
3.1 Bottle, purchased from Liquor Legends. Pours a murky straw gold with a white head. Aroma: salt, sea-water, pepper, lemon, coriander, wheat notes. Taste: lemon, salt, coriander, mild pepper, straw, spice and mild floral flavours. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Moderate tartness. Complex flavour balance, but I found it hard to finish. May just not be my cup of tea, but I didn't like this one.

3.3 500ml bottle. Milky, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with small, frothy, diminishing, white head. Wheaty malty, fruity and floral-spicy aroma, hints of banana, mandarine, pink pepper. Taste is sweet-ish, tart, fruity, floral-spicy, hints of orange, pink pepper, coriander; slightly watery, soft, almost flat carbonation, a bit insipid.
3.3 Very sweet malt gose. Quite a lot of salt, very beachy. And then lots of lemon to finish. Tasty, summer brew, but a lot more pale than expected.
3.5 Can found warm on a shelf in Canberra, chilled for a day. Pours a cloudy pale pastel yellow, dissipating head. Lots of lemon in the aroma, sea salt, pepper. It has a fun flavour, salty and wheat malt in the Gose style, citrus sweetness, but the second half veers into sea salt with a tingly peppery finish. Light and crisp with a fizzy peppery tingly backend. Works well, distinct flavours that mesh into a pleasant drink all round.
3.2 Tallahassee, Fl - Beer Stop - 12 oz can. Slight haze to the light golden pour, light silkiness to the snow white head that sticks around a while, Aroma has some saltiness, a bit of coriander. Solid sour/salty flavor with hints of pepper, some faint unknown, but pleasant fruitiness. Nice textured mouthfeel. Odd, but enjoyable and hard to describe.
