Nørrebro La Granja Stout

Nørrebro La Granja Stout

This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

3.2 Bottle@Home. Strong mocha aroma. Black, brown head, good lace. Sweet, coffee (not dominating), sugar, roasted bitterness. Medium body, light sticky. Flavourful, still too much coffee for me.
2.2 Draught at Nörrebro Bryghus, Copenhagen. Poured dark brown in colour with tan head. Coffee, vegetables and roasted malts in flavour. Flavour quite similar with vegetables spoiling it too much.
3.2 60 cl bottle at home. Pours a black body with a short lived, fizzy, light brown head. Turkish coffee, wooden and roasted nose. Full bodied, light syrupy and overcarbonated. Malty liquorice and a little papery in the mouth.
3.4 Bottle from Vika. Dark brown body with low beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet malty taste, chocolate, coffee and some earthly hops. Medium bitterness.
3.5 Bottle from Randall’s a while back. 1 pint, 4.3 oz. - I guess that’s 600 ml. "TAP 29 10 10" is stamped on the neck above an "EXP" date which has been rubbed off. I wanted to open this fresher, but oh well. Pours a semi-cloudy chocolate brown with a finger of beige head that dissipates into a ring. Nice coffee and chocolate on the aroma despite the age, as well as some sugar, toast, and nuts. Flavor of chocolate, coffee, licorice, sugar, earth, and mild spice. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a roasty, sweet mouthfeel. Not a bad stout. Probably better fresher.
3.9 Bottle: Thanks Viktor: Medium lively fizzy tan brown head disappears very quick and leaves a very small light tan island on top of a deep dark brown to almost black colored beer. Smell is a tad sweet, with coffee roast, hint of iron, some chocolate, hop and Roasted herbs. Taste is lot of roast, coffee, coffee roast, bitter, some hops, hint of cream, something light marzepin, some roasted malts and chocolate. aftertaste if grass, roasted coffee, roast and some herbs. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium to more fuller body and a creamy texture. Very nice beer.
3.7 Bottle thanks to crusianbeer. Poured near black with a fast fading beige head. Aroma was sweet chocolate and coffee. Flavor was pretty much the same as the nose, but had a hint of some dark roast. Body was medium and silky with medium carbonation.
3.9 Fat på Copenhagen Beer Festival 2012. En söt stout med rejäl kropp, måttlig till snäll beska och fina kaffearomer ovanpå välrostad lätt bränd malt, choklad och söt lakrits. Riktigt god.
3.5 600 ml bottle - pours deep red-brown with no head. Aroma of coffee and mocca, some toffe as well, raising,s, dates, plums. Medium body with nice roasted tone, light sweetness, light bitterness in the finish. Strong coffee taste with some red fruits flavours in the ends...
4.0 En fin, krämig och rund stout med kraftig smak av kaffe och toner av laktris. Angenäm beska som runda av avslutningen på denna fina smakupplevelse.
3.1 Black. Tan head - small. Little lacing. Roasty, malty aroma. Straight up black patent roasted flavor - maybe not that harsh, but close. There is a bit of chocolate, but not much. Dry finish with a small bit of sweetness. Definitely leaning more towards a dry stout. And it is a decent DRY stout.
3.1 Blocky tan head strong carbonation darkest of brown pours near black aromas coffee bean chocolate sweet malt the flavours strong coffee bean rich roasted chocolate sweet caramel cough mixture taste medium bitter oily touch vanilla the finish sweet malt the coffee but nothing really excelling in this stout
2.7 600ml bottle. Pours a deep mahogany liquid with a small creamy mocha head with low retention and almost no lacing, very little carbonation. Nose of coffee, and lots of it, some caramel. Overwhelming coffee in the taste, roasted malt, if there is something else is too well hidden for my amateur taste buds. Not impressed.
2.2 Bottle. Pours black with an offwhite head. Smells terrible; burnt malt, smoke. Tastes of a medium sweetness, medium bitter, coffee, roasted malt. Not pleasant; too sweet, and the nose is very distracting.
3.6 Bottle from systembolaget. It poured a pitch black liquid with a small light brown head. Smell and taste of nuts, brandy, chocolate, dark malts and coffee.
3.6 Bottle. Black with a cappuccino head. Aroma: cold coffee, coffee grounds (sump), some smoked sausage. Taste: espresso, coffee grounds, chocolate, licorice, muscovado, roasted. Medium-bodied, smooth. Lite väl kaffesumpig, men inte dum.
3.1 Bottle (60 cl) from Systembolaget. Black with medium beige head. Roasted dark chocolate aroma with some ash and a bit stale green pepper coffee aroma. Medium boded, medium carbonation. Semi dry with medium bitterness.
3.6 3/31/12. Bottle shared at colemanzuber’s Stoutfest 2012! Black pour with a small tan ring that fades fast. Complex aroma with sweet chocolate and coffee and a touch of sourness. Sweet flavor as well with big chocolate followed by roasty chocolate, toasty, and plenty of maltiness. Nice!
3.5 600 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pour very dark reddish brown with a brownish gray head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and slightly sour with lots of coffee, roasted malts, brown sugar, liquorice, burnt wood, burnt sugar and nutmeg. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter and tiny sour with coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, liquorice fudge, roasted malts, maple syrup, wood and hints of resin. Mouthfeel is silky, tiny tart and medium bodied. Finish is sweet, tiny bitter and tiny sour with coffee, vanilla and roasted malts. Impressive creamy/silky mouthfeel supported by a solid but unspectacular coffee stout...
3.2 Bottle. Clear but very dark brown/black with red notes. The head is pale and builds up nicely but short, but it quickly sizzles away without a trace. Wow! Great roasted aroma with a very nice dry coffee and cacao vibe with vanilla and burnt wet wood. Oh...What a disappointment. The mouthfeel is thin with small tickling bubbles and the sweetness feels like diet soda. Decent roasted flavors in the background with coffee, chocolate, burnt wood and vanilla, but they only get to bloom in the aftertaste. Meh!...
3.5 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours oily black with a small, quick lasting, off white head. No lacing left. Aroma is very pleasant. Slight vanilla overlapped with chocolate cookie and light coffee tones. Very mocha forward with that nice sweetness behind it all. Vanilla comes through in the taste but is overrun a little by some burnt ashy tones and bitter mocha notes. Chocolate and coffee tones work well together. A little heat from the meager 7.5% abv. Super easy drinking with a bitter sweet finish. Nice beer
3.6 Lovely chocolate / coffee and rich roasted flavor. A really comfortable and excellent coffee stout.
3.7 No head! Brown. Dry nose with some salt(!) chocolate, Semifullbody and some length. Taste is soft with some fatness. stil the saltwater is evident but slowly fades. Nice chocolate and a hint of coffee, Very fine and seems to evolve in the glass.
3.4 (600mL bottle w/ Ontario maple syrup from LCBO). Served cooler than cellar temp in a tulip. Poured very dark brown, thin whitish head that dissipated w/ no lacing. Aroma of light coffee, roast, a bit of chocolate, some sweet prune. Taste is initially sweet but not as much as expected, mainly coffee with dark roasted malts, dusty milk chocolate. Coffee takes over mid-palate and finishes bitter with just a bit of fruity caramel malt flavour, no real hop character or sign of maple syrup. Alcohol very well-hidden but mouthfeel fairly thin for the style, moderate carbonation. Not a bad take on a coffee stout but I would prefer more body and flavour concentration.
4.1 (Bottle) Pours dark, dark brown with a nougat coloured head. The aroma holds dusty/gravel-like coffee roast (jalapeno oil, bell pepper and parsley) up front with undertones of mint, liquorice, dark caramel, mild dark fruits, dark grainy bread, blackberries, blueberries and brownies. A touch of hops and oxidation. The flavour is light to medium sweet, near medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate cake, dark caramel, liquorice, dark berries, mild dark fruits, light hops and a touch of mint. The mouthfeel is round, smooth, soft and light velvety with a perfect carbonation. Well-balanced finish with smooth roast, dark berry flavoured candy and earthy hops. Medium bodied.
2.4 Tap @the brewpub 25.2.2012. Poured almost black with a thin beige head. Something wrong with this one, both samples had lots of boiled vegetables (beans especially) in aroma, and lots of it. Flavor had the same, but also roasted malt and some coffee in aftertaste.
3.9 60cl bottle - thanks, Martin!! A deep dark brown with minimal head, aromas of coffee and a little prune, rich and sweet yet drying palate, with mid-strong coffee note plus burnt caramel, liquorice, a very faint plumminess, and a strong note of cinder toffee in the finish. Lingering burnt-caramel bitterness in the finish. As the bottle says, a fine dessert ale!
4.1 Bottle @ Dan’s house. Black appearance with a brown head. Amazing, rich coffee, rich milky, silky chocolate aroma. Silky mouth feel. Very tasty, sweet, light chocolate, moderate light roast coffee, milky flavor. Delicious chocolate milky flavor that’s followed by a mild roasty coffee element. Great beer. Fuck yeah.
4.1 Pour out of bottle, big thanks to Aaron for the pour! Pour is dark brownish black with tan head, aroma has notes of espresso bean, roast, dark chocolate, hints of wet coffee grounds and caramel notes, touch of biscuit. Taste is a nice mix of dark espresso bean, chocolate, and mocha notes, but mainly a bitter coffee, roasted note going into some slight caramel, finishing fairly dry and bitter. This is great, great stuff, especially as it warms up. Hell yes, or should I say fuck yes as the CO crew would generally say.
3.4 black, brown, clear, minimal head, coffee, roasty, caramel, light sweetness, lightly sour, light body, creamy, average carbonation,
