Nørrebro North Bridge Extreme

Nørrebro North Bridge Extreme

Danish: North Bridge Extreme, was a present from the brewers to Brewmaster Anders on the first anniversary of Nørrebro Bryghus. Inspired by the Southwest Californian triple IPA’s, it is brewed with British ale malts, adjusted with several colour malts and spiced with extreme amounts of hops.

A dark golden extremely bitter ale (9,5 % ABV) with a prominent hop aroma. Should be enjoyed as the final beer of the evening – Your taste buds will no longer function after drinking this ale!

3.4 Amber in color with off-white head. Malty sweet with a balanced hop aroma. Overall balanced with an excellent hop finish. Denmark visit ’11
3.7 Bottle, shared @ Freakin’ Frog. Cloudy medium amber brown without much of a head. A heavily malty IPA, very bready and hearty, leathery dryness, with a bitter tannic hop structure. Not for everyone, but Iiked it.
4.3 bottled, an old rating from the prague xmas beer markets in ’08 and tasted again since. inviting golden with a beige head; grapefruity, bready aroma; medicinal in a good way, vanilla bean, plenty of bitterness. a bit of extra oomph, classy stuff
3.7 Bottle. Dark amber colour with a nice off-white head. Aroma and flavour of hops, fruit, malt and spice.
3.7 Sampler at CBH 2011. Clear deep golden with an off-white rim. Gooseberries, tobacco, leather and apricot on the nose. Heavy bitter, acidic and heavy sweet. Caramel notes. Full body. Finishes dry on the tongue.
3.8 Thisp oured a murky dark amber/red colorwith a beige head. Aroma was caramel, toffe and bittering stale hops. Flavor was vert sweet and malt, much more like a barleywine than a double IPA, hops are fading and are almost lost, but overall tastey stuff.
3.5 Mild hopfiger Geruch, wenig süß, weitestgehend alleinstehend. Test vom 29.9.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,11,11,12,10,11 - 11,00
3.4 8/10 i mörkhet. Klart humlig och fruktig i lukten. Oljig, besk och bitter i smaken med en bitter eftersmak.
3.9 Tap sample @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Deep clear amber, small off-white top. Nose is mango, strawberry and hints of grass. Quite mild but nice. Taste is a well-blended fruity mango and honey combination, mixed with resinous hops. Hints of grass and maple syrup towards the finish. A very solid DIPA fram Nørrebro.
3.9 From tap at CBF 2011. Cloudy, dark orange/amber colour, off-white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, some floral notes, alcohol is also present, but in a nice, warming way. Flavor is much sweeter than expected, fruit, some caramel, and alcohol. Long lasting bitterness in the finish. A sweeter interpretation of the DIPA-style. A very níce beer, trough.
3.3 nose is heavy hops, curry, cereal, feel is medium, carb is mediumheavy, taste is piss, yeast, fresh hops finish
4.3 Draught @ Ølfestival København 2011. Pours a slightly hazy orange colour with a small, lacy, frothy head. Aroma of strong floral hops, citrus and lovely tropical fruits. Flavour of strong floral hops, caramel, citrus, pine needles and malts in the background. Full bodied with a crispy, fruity, floral finish. One of the best DIPA’s I’ve tasted so far.
3.5 Honey sweet malty aroma. Amber slight hazy. Small head medium to heavy body. Dry medium bitterness with more malt than hops flavours. Thought it to be more hoppies. Strong brew.
4.0 Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, alcoholic and very hoppy - flowers. Flavor is quite sweet and extremely bitter. Dry and long lasting bitter finish. Nice, though not really balanced. 060510
3.4 Red brown body, tan head. aroma of sweet malt, some alcohol, raisins, and tight hops. Flavour has dark candy, lots of alcoho, fruits, wood and nice bitterness.
3.8 Pours hazy brown with a tiny off-white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malts, citrus, hops and some raisin. Taste of hops, caramel, citrus, sweet malts, plums and some spice.
3.7 Clear amber pour. Sweet hop. Smooth. Alcohol. Some vanilla. very good. Interesting
3.5 Pours a dark, cloudy orange, not at all the color I’m accustomed to from this style. Nose is odd: extremely malty and has a sort of metallic scent to it. Indeed, the flavor is so malty I would never guess this to be an IIPA. There’s just a bit of hop bite on the tale end, but otherwise this seems more like a barley wine than an IIPA. I recently reviewed the Thomas Creek Up the Creek Extreme IIPA and the similarities between that and this are really incredible. I’m a bit disappointed because this is not what I’m looking for in an IIPA. Malt lovers will be pleased, but if you’re a hophead like me, steer clear.
3.5 20th April 2009 Sells itself as an Imperial IPA but balanced by intense maltyness! Cloudy chocolate coloured beer with a biscuit coloured head. Doesn’t seem like an Imperial IPA! More like a barleywine/Scotch ale hybrid. There is the richness of barleywine along with the briney hops but also the soft chocolate of a Scotch ale. Interesting!
4.3 A reddish brown ale with a thin reddish moka head. In aroma, herbaceous hops, vinous notes, raisins, very barley wine like, with smooth notes of alcohol and seaweed iodine. In mouth, a classic barley wine with smooth resinous hops, tobacco malts, quite nice and superbly balanced. Wow! Bieropholie import. Jan 1 2011.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a deep amber with small creamy light tan coloured head. Big malt aromas of dark caramel, toffee and dark fruits offset somewhat by decent tropical fruit and citrus hop aromas. To me the malt backbone definate dominates the nose. Flavours are super sweet thanks to the malt. Decent hop bitterness on the finish. Full mouthfeel. Decent beer but not my favourite DIPA>
3.8 Bottle at a tasting, 15th January 2011. Pours a deep amber, with a small off white head, good lacing. Quite tropical in the aroma to go along with the pine. Bit boozy on the first couple of sips, but soon the tropical fruits start coming out, along with a hint of red berries. Slightly oily in body, nice bitterness at the finish.
3.8 Bottle that Jan & Charlotte passed to me at Essen, Kerstbier, Belgique, consumed 25.12.10 Pours hazy dark golden with small off-white head. Very soft in the mouth, lovely hoppy nose, big body & full flavoured with grapefruit infused with a floralness, really floral in taste. There is also an exotic tropical fruitiness flooding through. Good beer. A7 A3 T8 P4 Ov16 3.8
4.5 You find one every now & then that’s just what you wanted & this is it. Probably a bit one sided for some, but for hop heads just fine, Hop Heaven. Big & sweet caramel with hops of pine & citrus. Looks mysterious, even dangerous, and it is. Awesome, awesome.
4.0 Thin head the carbonation is above medium a murky orange brown pour aromas caramel brandy toffee fruit brown sugar soy like grain flavour taste of citrus peel for bitter caramel brandy smooth toffee resinous touch brown sugar pink grapefruit touch cracker of a beer finish smooth as silk full flavoured gentle aftertaste that lasts
3.6 Clear amber. Loaded with exotic fruit hoppiness. Good balance of malt. Alcohol is well checked and the palate is full but not syrupy. Enjoyable.
4.0 Bottle. Hazy reddish amber pour with a lasting, fluffy beige head. Aroma is very hoppy with orange, peach, mango, grapefruit and pine, but also has a strong malt backbone. Flavour is still very hoppy, not quite as fruity as the aroma but with stronger pine, grass and herb notes, plus notes of toffee, molasses and nuts. Mouthfeel is light and slightly oily with lots of soft carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. Very nice IIPA, smooth, well balanced and easy to drink.
3.6 Funny how falling feels like flying. For a little while. Brown orange pour. Tainted white head. Pretty good beer, even at this hour. Explosive orange nose, trending toward spice. BIG HOPS! "it’s a little saucy" (perhaps a bit too syrupy). And maybe a bit too sweet. But I pick -- its a fine brew, true to the style.
4.1 Lots of caramel malt in the aroma. Somewhat floral hop aroma. Pours a deep amber color with a nice dense head. Lots of malt flavor. Hops are not the dominant flavor, but do help this from being overly sweet. Some spiciness that may come from the yeast used. Big and chewy with hop flavor buried under all the malt. Nice beer. I was expecting way more hops than this presents, but the malty sweet flavors are nice and there is no hint of the 9.5% ABV in the flavor.
3.7 Bottle. Deep orange hue with a thinner white head. Mango, pine, and nice hoppiness in the aroma. Flavor has medicinal hints and some light fruit sweetness with the passion fruit and pine coming back into play. Slicker body, and nice carbonation. Good brew.
