Nørrebro Påske Bock

Nørrebro Påske Bock

A powerful and full-bodied spring herald at 7.5% ABV. Brewed according to the original bock tradition, which used to be the point of origin for Danish easter brews. Bottom fermented, copper golden, with a discreet aroma of dark malts and hops. The flavor is round and sweet with notes of caramel and raisins. Average bitterness and aftertaste.

3.0 600 ml bottle. From the Brewpub, Copenhagen, Denmark. Dark murky brown colour with small greyish white head. Dark malty aroma with lots of dark fruits, raisins and chocolate. Flavour is also quite dark fruits, raisins and sweet heavy maltiness. Not that rewarding.
4.5 Bottle 330 from Purvis. Great malty beer. Aromas of caramel, biscuit, cereal, and chocolate. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.
3.4 Bottle 330ml @ home Pours cloudy brown with a off-white head. Aroma is very malty with notes of caramel and raisin. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long malty finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.1 330 ml bottle from the brewpub, Copenhagen. Pours a dark brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasted malts with some metallic notes. Flavour of sweet toasted malts, metals, raisins and some spices. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a sweet, raisiny and spicy finish. Metallic notes ruin this.
3.1 Red brown color with a fine tan head. Good durable dark Easter beer with fruity aroma and a good aftertaste. Sharp aftertaste of alcohol and hops..
3.8 Non è il mio genere, e mi sembra tutt’altro che una birra estiva, però questa è tra le migliori doppelbock mai bevute senza dubbio!
3.6 Bottle, labeled as Forårsbock. Dark ruby red, thick tanned head. Smells of roasted malts, yeast esters and raisins. Taste is very good, full malt body, nice good sweetness, raisins, caramel and light hints of flowers. Feel is quite thick and sticky. Finish is very hoppy and bitter. I find caramel, raisins and nuts. Very nice bock
3.0 Bottle @ Home, as Forårs Bock. Pours dark brown with a big offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, dark fruit, light spices. Taste is malty, light caramel, ripe fruit. Medium body, soft carbonation. 090611
3.4 0,25 l glass at Nørrebro Bryghus 2011-05-26. Clear, deep ruby-red with an off-white film. Aroma laden with dark caramel and dried dark fruits. Sweet, alcoholic, toasted, light bitter flavors with toffee and dark caramel. Medium to full body. Syrupy taxture.
3.5 17th May 2009 Copenhagen Beer Festival. Clear brown beer. Soft palate. Sweet slightly porty malt. Very good flavour for it’s abv.
3.3 On tap at the brewery. Pours black as Coke with a tiny off-white head. Sweet nutty malty aroma. Taste of red ripe fruits, good beer on the sweet fruity side, pleasant and easy drinkable. Light roasted bitter end.
3.5 40 cl. bottle from the supermarket. Labeled as "Forårs Bock" (Spring Bock) - organic, 7,0 % alc., doubt this is the same beer as Påske Bock (Easter Bock). Beautiful dark amber colour. Small off-white to light brown head that lasts. Dark malts with flavors as caramel and nuts, just a discrete hop bitterness. Medium sweetness in taste, soft carbonation and a medium to full body. Long lasting finish. A nice beer, I really enjoyed this one.
4.0 Nose is leather, rotten fruit, overripe cherry, red pepper whiff, later sweet malt, feel is mediumwatery, carb is medium, taste is cola, lettuce, red pepper, sweet alcohol, some cough syrup, later leaves, assam tea
3.6 As Forårs Bock. Clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, heavy malty, nutty and a little dried fruit. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Dry finish. Full bodied and smooth. 240411
3.5 40cl bottle, as Nørrebro Forårs Bock (apparently the new branding of the Påske Bock, according to the rb forum). Pours dark brown-amber, with a lasting tan head. Sweet malts, cut with a hint of tartness and some yeast. Fairly straightforward, but tasty.
2.9 Tasted 2011-03-29. Pours clear, dark red with beige head. Aroma: port wine, red berries. Taste: Slightly bitter, and a little sweet. Small alcoholic burn. Kinda weak, but OK. No hops present what so ever.
3.0 On tap at Copenhagen Oldage on 20 May 2006. Gold colour. Quite fruity. Presented rather like a wheat beer - estery banana evident. Odd but not unpleasant. Still, not a Norrebro favourite for me.
3.6 330ml bottle. Very rich dark brown in colour like a freshly made Christmas cake. Capped with a solid head of fluffy light brown foam that collapses fairly quickly. Fruitiness in the aroma reminiscent of plums and prunes with some malt notes following along behind. The flavour is strong but not overbearing with some good clean fruit flavours coming through. Mouthfeel is velvety and as the beer sits in your mouth a creaminess develops.
3.4 A dark brown bock with a thick receeding moka head. In aroma, dark fruits, plums, molasses and fruity esters. In mouth, a sweet molassey malt with plums, coffee grinds, cocoa, but surprisingly light bodied. Bieropholie imports.
3.9 Pours dark brown with a large quickly fading head. Nose is very rich with loads of melanoidins, golden syrup, caramel, prunes and figs. Lovely, very expressive. Flavours are similarly rich, pretty full-on even. Almost exactly the same as the aroma, but very sweet. Gets a bit too much. Carbonation is a little too high for these flavours, although, at least it helps cut through the sweetness a little.
3.3 Thick biege head dark misty red brown pour medium strong carbonation aromas caramel nutty chocolate earthyness flavours rich caramel below medium bitter coming from flavours rich chocolate finish seems one way but okay rich malt mild bitter short aftertaste
2.9 Bottle from Boutip - thanks, Phil! Nice looking pour, a gleaming amber with a decent head that settles fairly quickly. Nose of bready malts suggests a bit of oxiditation - not really too much of a problem for this style, I suppose. Body is medium, faintly prickly mouthfeel. More of a problem for the style, however, is the evident tartness in the flavor. Not merely a ripe berry addition but seems a bit infected, clashing with the sweet flavors you expect from the style. Not so hot.
2.9 Bottle. Clear dark reddish amber pour with a short lived creamy tan head. Weak, malty aroma has hints of caramel and chocolate. Flavour is a little more substantial but far from being full bodied; malt stands out here as well with notes of caramel, chocolate, biscuit and nuts. Mouthfeel is dry and watery with moderate to low carbonation and a short mildly sweet finish. Pleasant enough but not particularly memorable.
3.2 Draft @ the Brewpub. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with some weak hoppy hints. Fruity malty caramel and dark fruit flavor with soome hoppy bitter hints. Has a fruity malty caramel finish with a bitter aftertaste.
3.6 600ml bottle, dark copper color, with a tan-beige head, mild toasted, caramel, biscuity malt, cookie dough nose with some yeasty, fruity esters of caramelized ripe apples, and dried raisin, fig, date notes, with a sponge toffee, nutty, chocolatey accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice yeasty, fruity, toasted, caramelized, biscuity, roasted malt character with some toffeeish, black coffee, burnt fruitcake, dried raisin, fig, date flavors, with some cookie dough, faint molasses, nutty, sponge toffee notes, leading towards a fruity, malty, chocolatey, lingering roasted bitterness finish.
(Rating #3223)
3.5 On tap at the brewpub. Red brown with a tan head. Dark fruit, plums and raisins aroma. Overall quite sweet and fruity, but tightens up towards the finish. A good, if very fruity, bock.
4.0 A really good beer. Has tastebuds all over the place. Maybe a "bit" to sweet to get the highest score.
2.9 Bottle: Poured a clear dark burgundy color ale with an off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light dry fruits with some caramel malt is enjoyable. Taste is also a mix between some sweet caramel malt with notes of dry fruits. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation. A bit off for the style with some ester definitely lacing for the style; also a fuller body with a creamy texture would have been more appropriate. Not bad but somewhat off from the staple of the style.
3.1 60 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. App.: Clear deep mahogany with a fair tan head. Aroma: Sweet, boozy dark dried fruits, lots of molasses, slightly minty with a hint of licorice, a touch mashy/meaty/savoury, very dark toffee, pretty deep and rich. Palate: Medium+ body, nearly flat, a bit flabby. Flav.: Similar to the nose with plenty of rich, deep malts, less fruitiness, molasses, brown sugar, none of the savouriness; basically dry with some bitterness and a roasted malt finish. Fair.
