3.7 35cl Fles van De Laat. Kastanjebruine kleur, beige kraag.
3.8 Pours a clear copper brown on tap with bubbly off-white foam that dissipates quickly to leave minimal lace. Aroma of dark fruit and phenolic esters, a touch of isoamyl acetate, candied sugar and booze. Taste is sweet up front from booze and and malt with a dry, quick finish, mild bitterness to balance. Solid for what it is, but a but too much banana for me.
3.6 Fles 35,5cl thuis. Dried fruit, bittertonen, pruim, kruidnagel, rood fruit, caramel, bes, licht boozy. Redelijk dun. Goede balans. (12-3-2021).
3.7 Very plummy and strong, really good beer, but not the best in style. Clean and a pretty good american example of the style. Pacific standard berkeley
3.0 bottle to glass. I rated this lower than most. mostly due to the palate; this seems thin to me for the style. has most characteristics for a quad but less flavor and heft than the norm.
3.8 Bottled, 355 ml, shared with Miro B, Max and Tomislav. Amber with off white head. Malty, caramel, some fruity notes, sweetish. Medium bodied.
3.8 Bottle at home. Almost clear light mahogany reddish brown, light beige foamy head. Sweet and herbal quadruple, clove, dried fruity, vanilla, caramel. Medium body, low carbonation.
3.8 Keg at The Portland International Beer Festival 2008 on 18/07/2008. Great yeasty and dried fruit aroma with chewy grain coming through. Full and nicely rounded. The booze does come through fairly noticeably, but it fits in nicely with the beer overall.
3.4 Rich Belgian flavored hops that are packing a mighty alcohol punch that is 9.4%. A little bit too much alcohol. But if you like big boozy Belgian flavored beers this one is for you!
3.7 12oz bottle. Brown mahogany color. No head. Aroma is Rich and malty... With a yeast that strongly rinds me of other north coast Belgian beers. Same yeast?  It's good and easy drinking with minimal alcohol presence. Nice full body. High quality stuff. 7/3/7/3/17
4.6 Very Chimay blue ish taste and flavor with much cheaper value ay about $5
3.7 355ml bottle. Cloudy, dark brown colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, toasty, malty and yeasty, fruity aroma, notes of dark fruit, dried fruit, raisin, plum, black currant, hints of plum butter. Taste is sweet, toasty and dark malty, slightly sugary, yeasty fruity notes of dark fruit, dried dark fruit, raisin, plum, plum butter, black currant, a touch of honey in the middle part, minimally bitter hoppy overtones. Minimally prickly carbonation. Good.
3.8 It has all the best parts of a Belgian Ale: the look, the smell, the palate (oh dear god, the palate). But perhaps it’s lacking the subtlety of a Trappist beer. Picture a New York Times Comic, then picture it when someone is trying to explain it to you without the benefit of the actual cartoon.
4.0 (dubbel-candi-cassis-fraise-myrtille, onctuo-ronde-charnue-équilibrée, pour moine-chef (aide au jeûne !))
4.8 Aged for 1 year.An American take on Belgian style beer. Loaded with caramel and phelonic aromas ie dried fruit and spices. Medium body. Very nice clovey/herbal aroma. Very smooth and easy to drink. Watch out for the high alcohol conten as it is very much hidden. Perfect pairing for salty snack like pretzels or nuts. Defenitelt worth the price.
4.1 De Zombier? En copa Grimbergen. Jugando a Inner World. Nariz deliciosa, llena de frutas oscuras. En boca pierden intensidad y el cuerpo resulta algo aguado. A repetir mas fresca. Se sube mucho a la cabeza.
3.5 Draught at Pour House Santa Cruz, small creamy head, clear deepish brown aroma of plums and vanila with some malt behind, flavort of dark bread and some dried fruits, sweet but not too heavy with some alcohol showing. Probably would have liked it more a few yeas ago, but still quite nice.
3.8 On tap at the brewery pours out a amber color topped with a sand head. Nose is nice sweet malts some pit fruit and spice. Taste is more of the nice sweet grain malts spice and pit fruit notes.
3.3 One of those "I've had that..." beers that I've apparently never rated. $3.75 bottle, Beer Run. Pours clear reddish brown with a small peach head. Aroma is tart cherry, light caramels. Flavor is green leaf and grass, caramel, toffee, glue, yeast... buried fruit in there somewhere, could be cherry (or plum). I kinda remember not loving this... guess I was right.
3.6 Bottled. 15cl sample. The aroma has toffee malts, sugar, caramel, some spicy tones. Clear, amber coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is sweet, bit spicy, has some licorice, caramel. Full bodied beer.
3.5 From the bottle. Brown with a frothy to creamy off white head that slowly fades. Mild caramel aroma. Taste is sweet, full of caramel, walnuts and dates. Medium body, lightly sticky, soft carbonation. Good but not great.
3.8 Aroma: malt, light prune Appearance: dark red, tan small head Flavour: sweet toasty toffee, cherry Palate: finishes chocolate and cherry
3.0 Ar: Prune and candied orange peel; brown sugar and overripe pear; a bit of moss. Ap: Deep amber and clear; medium-small tan head with moderate-low retention, settling into a ring of medium-small bubbles and a thin wisp of foam across the top. T: Banana skin and underripe banana; slightly metallic; medium sweetness; alcohol heat is moderate; medium-low bitterness, a bit of moss flavor; pear and peach; finish is more of the underripe banana and metal. P: Medium body with high carbonation; medium-dry finish. O: There are a lot of promising aromas and flavors, but the taste just does not come together; the metallic and underripe banana flavors just do not jive well, giving a flabby flavor and detracting from the other elements.
3.9 On tap at Pax River Ale House in Lexington Park, MD. Opaque, black-brown with a thin kh fair lacing. Aroma of raisins, caramel, toffee and dark fruit. Sweet taste of toffee, caramel, raisins, other dark fruit and a toasted malt. Medium body and medium/high carbonation.
4.6 Don't know what the heck appearance or palate has anything to do with bear but ok. if you give a crap about that stuff maybe you should be drinking wine. It's a good beer period.
3.4 Been told by many that this is possibly their favorite beer. Aroma is very subtle, appearance is pleasant but doesn't draw you in like some beverages. A lot of carmel notes. Surprisingly sweet for a 9 percent beer. Can't say it's one of my favorites so far but I'm enjoying it and would try it again.
4.1 From Amy. Nice dark bronze with yellow head. Sweet candy fruit in the aroma. Sweet, candy toffee, fruit with nice growing bitterness in the aftertaste.
