3.9 12 oz bottle. Smells a little floral with a hint of lemon. Golden yellow in color with a slight haze. Tastes sweet. Tastes of a bit of honey, banana, a bit peppery, with a touch of a floral taste as well. Finish is clean with a slight sweet aftertaste. Lively carbonation. Very nice and quite enjoyable if you are in the mood for a Belgian.
3.0 This was good but I am not sure where it was aiming for -- is it a Belgian, is it a Saison, is it a ?. Poured yellow/golden color, 0.75" head which receded quickly with minimal lacing. Medium body which provided a nice mouthfeel. Aroma and taste were ok but more muted than I would have liked. I was hoping for something more boldly Belgian but this came up short for me. Decent, but not great.
4.0 Let's face it, most American Belgian ale suck, mainly because of poor yeast. This is an exception!! Very good yeast, good body, smooth, good flavor throughout.
3.5 12 oz bottle.pours a hazy gold with no head. Scents of lacquer and yeast. Yeasty sweet flavors with a banana overtone. Oily mouthfeel with no carbonation. Pretty classic Belgian style character. Not bad.
3.1 How much I wanted to like this...but didn't. Sweet and skunky aromas. Less than ideal mouthfeel with an alcoholic quench or the thirst. Decent flavors of golden raisins and leaves. Not bad but expected more.
4.2 Bottle from Earth Fare. Golden color. Thinning white head. Aroma is floral, fruity and yeasty. It has a nice maltiness to it as well.
3.2 Aroma: yeast, malt, touch of spices Taste: malt, Belgian yeast, fruits and spices and pilsener hops.
3.4 Aroma: fresh hop flower & malt Appearance: amber lightly hazy, smallish white head Flavour: hemp hop flavour, some toffee & malt Palate: thin but lingering
3.3 Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus. Clear yellow golden color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, overripe yellow fruit, sweetish a bit and a bit yeasty. Decent body and carbonation. Ok. 7-3-7-3-13.
3.7 A decent representative of a Belgian Strong Ale with a more manageable 7.6% ABV. Thin head, not much aroma, but flavor hit the mark. Somewhat yeasty, raisin-malt flavor.
3.2 Bottle from a branch of Total wine in Sterling, Virginia. Golden in colour and hazy, with moderate carbonation and a large, white, head. Light, floral hops, grainy malts, a hint of candy sugar sweetness, yeasty stone fruits and a lingering, bitter finish. Good.
3.4 Always ready to sample a Belgian style. This single bottle was obtained in North Dallas at a Total Wine some weeks ago. Off comes the lid and I pour into my New Belgium snifter. I determine a yellow-into-gold liquid followed by a steadily replenished, finely bubbled, white top. I lift for a smell, promising, yeast, nectarine and a little flowery. A drink follows of course. All in all, I like the nose better. Yellow fruit, grain, slightly sweet and a small bitterness. A subdued tripel in my estimation. Expected more, oh well.
3.5 From backlog. Bottle from Total Wine Bocca Park. Golden with white head. Malts, hops, yeast and banana.
3.7 Golden with a white head - Belgian yeast aroma - malt body with a belgian yeast flavour that gives some banana notes - The malt and spicy yeasty flavour goes into the finish - This was good
4.2 smooth, round flavor. golden
3.6 355ml bottle from Beer republic. Poured deep golden color with a thin white head. Fruity, sweet floral nose, Belgian yeast, mild wheat. sweet fruity, floral flavors, some spiciness, clove and wheat. Long warming finish with more spiciness.
3.5 This is a beer, that compared to other "true" Belgians, I would like to give a lower review. But, based on the flavor, which actually isn't that bad, I don't mind this beer at all. It could smell better, it could feel better, appear better, etc.....but tastes OK to me. Probably a bit too spicey, a little on the sugary side, but I like malty beers which this seems to be. Appearance is a combo yellow with a darker orange tint. Aroma a bit above average.....yeasty and nothing special. Hard to get a good American made Belgian, so I wasn't expected to get blown off my feet. Would rather have a Rare Vos, but at the same time this may be better than Blue Moon....not as wheaty as that.
3.3 Pours medium golden. The most impressive part of the appearance is the nice white head. Aroma of yeast and slightly sweet flavor. Not as heavy or intense as some Belgians. A good option for a warm weather ale.
3.7 Pours a hazy yellow with minimal, bubbly head. Smell is doughy, Belgian yeast. Taste has some mild, light esther. Good grainy taste. Not too sweet. Dry, with a watery mouth feel. Excellent, very drinkable beer.
3.6 Gyllengul med fint vitt skum. Doftar sött, lite kryddigt. Smaken fyllig, söt, skumbananer, lite kryddig. Eftersmaken hyggligt lång med söta, kryddiga toner. Något alkoholanstruken. 3.4. (Re-rate 181018) Doft och smak av apelsin.
3.9 From the bottle: Cloudy ale with a head the quickly disappears. Nice floral nose and buttery hoppy flavors. Good stuff
4.1 From a corked 750 ml into a St Bernardus stem glass. Pours rich gold with head and lace. Aroma of bread dough, amber malts, grains, subtle citrus zest. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of amber malts, subtle banana esters, grains, slight citrus zest, hay. Overall full bodies, rich, very tasty for a Belgian blonde or strong ale lover with fantastic yeast blend.
3.7 Btl,pours a clear golden color with a big white head that disappears fast leaving no lace on glass. Smells of spice, ripe fruit, cloves, flowers , candy and bread dough. Tastes of bananas, sweet bread, yeast, sugar and spice. Light-medium body, a tad under carbonated, smooth mouthfeel and a tongue tingling, spicy finish. The high alcohol is hidden well. This beer is crisp, clean and easy to drink. Good stuff!
3.5 10 ounce draft at Winking Lizard Peninsula Ohio. Hazy golden, orange tint in color and smells sweet. Taste the Belgium sugars and yeast. Kind of sweet and some alcohol notes. Not to carbonated. Very thin head. no head on glass. Pretty smooth with some sugar after taste. Very nice beer for the style. Cheers!
3.5 Bottle from notes. Pours a cloudy golden color with a hint of orange and a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have pale malts, Belgian yeast, fruity, apricot, mild floral notes, straw, a splash of honey.
3.5 Draught at Hopwater Distribution. Golden color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, ripe fruits, earthy notes, grass and toast. Bitter finish with citrus, ripe fruits, grass, earthy notes and toast. Good Belgian ale.
3.8 Nice like a Belgian blonde just a tad thin by standard, I guess in complexity and taste.
3.8 Pours a hazy yellow. Nice fruit flavor with a clean finish. Very drinkable.
3.3 Not too bad. It poured really well, had a nice head, had a nice aroma. I would try it on tap for sure
