North Coast Red Seal Ale

North Coast Red Seal Ale

Malt and hops are beautifully married in this full-bodied, copper-red Pale Ale. Red Seal Ale is generously hopped in the traditional manner for a long, spicy finish.

2.7 香りがあって強そうに見えて弱めの軽め
3.5 4 month old bottle A: Poured a short thick tan head atop a deep orange gold body with visible bubbles. Average retention before head fell to a lasting ring. S: Light scent of pine, orange spice and dark toast. T: Zesty orange hop bitterness with some bread and caramel sweetness balancing nicely. M: Light body, lively carbonation and a very clean finish. Begs another sip. O: Maybe not outstanding by today's standards but hits all the right marks to make it an all around great pale/amber even at this age.
3.3 Better than average across the board for an amber. Lighter brown appearance...balanced nice. Feel is borderline 4, but not quite that crisp. I'd say this is more like a seasonal, as it's just ehh for North Coast.
2.9 Bottle at Golden Gate Taproom. Amber with a frothy head. Aroma of roasted malt and fruit hops. Flavour is red berry fruit, caramel malts, floral finish, a little pepper on the base.
3.0 [12oz bottle from Albertsons, Fullerton, CA.] An amber pour with a thick cream head; earthy malt aroma; sweet malty taste with a burst of citrus; and a caramel fudge finish. Way too sweet for me.
3.3 Bottle from a branch of Total wine in Sterling, Virginia. Deep amber in colour, with moderate carbonation. Light, citrus hops, rich, slightly toasty malts, red berry sweetness, caramel richness and lingering, dryish finish. Good.
3.7 Coffee and dough, very strong and I for once think the label does a good job describing what the drinker is in for.
3.3 Pours Amber with a White head. Aroma of caramel malts, sweet grains, some dark bread and slight nuts. Taste of caramel malts, Old hops, grains and ryebread.
3.2 I like North Coast and how in their 30 years have focussed on quality; consistently producing good-to-great beers in all three traditions. Red Seal could have fewer bitter hops to be a good table beer; but, as a session, it does the trick. Refreshing.
3.0 Ok, little hoppy, red pale ale. Little more hop than malt. Faint citrus, bitter finish
4.0 Tap, on nitro. Pours up a slightly hazy gold with a huge off white nitro cascade head. Creamy malty aroma. Taste is super smooth, creamy, and mild, with apple, malts, a mild sweetness, and some spices. A complex beer with lots of nuances coming together nicely. Definitely a well balanced brew. Easy drinking.
3.3 Bottled, 355ml from The Bottle Shed, Acocks Green, Birmingham. Red amber with off white head. There is a sweetish maltiness to this, some fruity notes, floral, vaguely tropical. There is a fullness on the palate but the whole is a little underwhelming to be truthful. It's fine if just a tad dull.
3.7 Smell of malt, hop, caramel. Although it’s ale, taste of bitterness is similar to IPA. But some sourness from yeast. Some spice. Good and easy to drink. May a bit simple and bland for some.
3.6 Btl, pours a clear light bright red color with a big tan head that hangs around for the whole time it’s consumed leaving curtains of lace on glass with each sip. Smells of bread, minerals and spice. Tastes of crackers, minerals, caramel,a hint of orange and spice. Light to medium body, perfect carbonation, smooth yet chalky mouthfeel and a spicy, mildly bitter finish. This beer is growing on me. Very smooth beer that is clean, refreshing and easy to drink. It’s not the usual hop bomb. Tasty!
3.3 Bottle. Toasted malt, carmel, some spices and pine. Medium weight. A nice bitter on the finish.
3.5 Bottle from flor do lupulo, Lisbon. Dark orange, red color. Thin to medium beige head. Taste is medium bitter. Light sweetness. Aroma and flavour is hops, caramel, malt, chocolate, chestnuts, spices.
2.4 0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Big tasting! Clear golden, small off-white head. Fruity, malty, honey. Dry. Light body, moderate carbonation, light finish. Something wrong.
2.9 12floz bottle, BOD: 08.31.2017, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. Poured vigorously creating a 1.5 finger off-white head atop a light amber colored body. Bits of of lace are left behind too. Presents a mild mannered subtle caramel aroma. This is not suited to my tastes. It's too harsh of brown/burnt leaf hoppiness. There is some latent honey-caramel noted, but is heavily overshadowed. Blah.
3.3 sweet, apples, strangely fruity, tart and sweet for the style. OK but one-d
4.1 A tasty "red" ale. Refreshing, not overly bitter like some reds. Nice brownish red color.
3.7 Fresh at. Taproom. Pale brown yellow. Aroma sour orange. Cherries. Tastes cherries orange hops. Bready. Lots of subtle flavor.
3.5 Bottle a dark golden yellow red colored beer with a white head aroma malts citrus fruits red fruits yeast and hops flavor malts citrus fruits some caramel spicy and bitter hops in the aftertaste
3.8 From old tasting notes. Labeled as Ruedrich’s Red Seal Ale. Hazy Amber orange color. Big bubbly tan head. Mildly spicy hop aroma.msubtle fruity malt flavor that is complex without being overdone. Nice dry finish. Very flavorful.
3.0 Aroma of toasty malt and pine. Round malty taste with some tropical fruit. Really creamy foam.
3.8 An APA from North Coast, bought at De Caigny, though based on the name, I was actually expecting a red IPA... Anyway: tightly ’paper’ lacing, egg-white, dense and moussy head, remaining closed for a long time over an initially cristal clear, beautifully very pure amber coloured beer with deep orange hue. Dank and elegantly spicy aroma of wet cigarette tobacco, olive oil, pine resin, warm biscuit, toasted bread in the morning, dry grapefruit zest, marihuana, beech bark, barbecue spices, paprika, freshly cut red bell peppers, dried wormwood leaves, tonic water, roasted pine nuts. Clean onset, some sbuduedly sweetish dried mango, green banana and unripe nectarine notes surrounded by a dim, generic sourishness and a vague green olive-like umami touch, medium carbonation with minerally effects, supple, slick and oily mouthfeel. Nice biscuity malt sweetishness deep below, quickly gaining a nutty and mildly toasted edge, matching with the increasing spicy, leafy and ’dried citrus peel’-like, bit resiny hop bitterness, releasing piney and restrainedly grapefruity aromas retronasally; long hop bitter finish but not overly aromatic and leaving enough room for the soft biscuity malt sweetness to pass through, this indeed finishes like any decent American style pale ale should. To the point, nothing extreme going on here from an American craft beer perspective, but classy and noble, like all of North Coast’s products; this brewery may seem a bit obsolete in view of everything that happened after its foundation in 1988, when only two hundred breweries were active in the entire United States, but they still deliver state-of-the-art examples of - now - classic American styles; this is a brewery whose beers I would recommend to any upcoming European beer afficionado as an initiation to American beer culture, the cradle of the current global craft beer movement. Decent, thoroughly enjoyable, quenching, adequately showcasing American hoppiness without overdoing it and merging into IPA territory: this may not be the most exciting APA around, but it is as exemplary as it gets.
4.4 I ordered this today at Melt bar and Grill. I very much enjoyed the fact that this beer came as a nitro pour. I am very much enjoying the fact that the flavor is becoming better as I let it warm up just a bit.
4.1 Definitely a well balanced brew. Easy drinking but still enough flavor to satisfy. Not too hoppy but there is enough bite to keep the nice malt profile in check. A little bit spicy.Mouthfeel is light to medium. Worth buying again.
3.6 Reddish amber, clear, fizzy with a medium white head and sticky lacing. Aroma is delicate hoppy notes of citrus and herbs. Not the classic pale ale, here it gets lot of caramel malty body similar to an English bitter, with notes of citrus and spices. Well balanced between sweetness and bitterness. Crisp and light bodied, thin feel, average carbonation, bitter finish. Not bad, more English than American, though.
