Northern Monk Eternal

Northern Monk Eternal

Cask, keg & can: Unpasteurised and Unfined
Session IPA

Our flagship beer is a World Beer Cup award-winning session IPA that’s low in ABV but high in hops. Appropriately named Eternal, this feather-bodied flavour bomb is fit to uplift your body and soul any time of day, any season of year.

True to style, the recipe was envisioned to offer the hit of a generously hopped IPA, but with the sessionability of a classic English pale ale. Simcoe and Centennial hops dominate this light blonde beer with a swathe of tangerine aroma and a sublimely quenching citrus pith aftertaste that lingers on and on and on... eternally.

Ingredients: water, malted barley, hops, yeast.

3.7 330 ml can. Unclear orange golden, stable creamy head. Very citrussy, piney, some honey, herbal hoppy notes, grapefruit zest. Hoppy bitterness. Light bodied, oily watery texture, lively carbonated, hoppy bitter finish. Really nice and quenching session IPA.
3.5 Cloudy orange color, white head. Tropical fruity nose, ripe mango, floral, papaya, hoppy, citrus, orange. Tropical fruity taste, mango, peach, pineapple, citrus, light bitterness. Light body, soft to average. 7, 4, 7, 3, 14
3.5 330ml Dose. Dunkelgolden mit Trübung und kleiner Schaumkrone. Süffig im Antrunk. Aroma von Citrusfrüchten. Etwas Pinie. Etwas süßlich im Antrunk, dann herb abgehend. Gut trinkbar.
3.5 1.10.2020: 330 ml can at home, 4.1% ABV, bb. 27.2.2021, bought at qbeer. Pours a lightly hazy light golden with a white head. The aroma is hoppy - grapefruit, pine, pithy orange, stone fruits. Light to medium body with a soft carbonation, a very light sweetness and a medium bitterness. The flavor is pretty hoppy with bitter grapefruit, lemon zest, bitter herbs, some resin and some grass. Finishes with a lasting medium-heavy bitterness. Overall very hoppy with a good bitter finish and quiet flavorful for the ABV. A refreshing nice Session IPA. 3.3 330ml can. A hazy golden with bigger bubbles and a frothy dissipating white head. Aroma is mainly citric in nature. Very light but flavourful; bready malts really hit right at the end, complementing the initial tropical fruits of the hops - but, perhaps, the malt is a little too overriding. Very decent and great at the abv.
3.5 Apparence : rien de spécial mais correct. Nez : fruits, banane, un peu d'orange. Bouche sympa, légère, fruits oranges, orange, citron, banane. Finale légèrement amère, digeste et sympa.
3.8 Can. BBE 13/01/21 so might have been canned several months ago. Cloudy gold, frothy head, good retention and lacing, very promising. Tropical aroma of grapefruit, mango and orange as well as pine. Taste is quite malty for a session IPA with a grain/bready note which mixes with the fruity tropical notes. A floral pine note is also evident at the end and mixes with a moderate bitterness in the finish. The hops are very evident but this has a higher malt ratio than most for this style and its an interesting and enjoyable take on it.
3.5 Really drinkable session ale, lovely
3.6 Hazy orange colour, with a decent white head, juicy papaya, mango , tropical fruit aroma, medium body, orange and grapefruit, tropical fruit flavours, dry hoppy finish
3.4 Aroma; juicy hops, flowers, citrus, barky malts. Look; huge off-white head on opaque golden body. Taste; sweet bark, flower, juicy hops, tangerines, pomerance, sweetweed , barky malts, and leading to an alright finish. Feel; nice body n co². Overall; certainly got a lot of taste on only 4 abv. 3.2 Rocky white head left a froth in a hazy amber coloured still body. Hoppy aroma with faint malt. Medium bodied, sharp & cloying. Grain, hoppy, bitter pith, grapefruit & tangy citrus tastes. Deece.
3.7 Liquide jaune trouble avec belle mousse compacte. Nez mangue et papaye. En bouche c'est une attaque courte sur la mangue puis apparaît une belle amertume longue et rafraîchissante. Propre !
3.5 From HonestBrew
3.5 330 ml can, from Helgø Meny Stadionparken. ABV 4.1%. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of mango, papaya and other tropical fruits. Citric mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour of tropical fruits, distinctly bitter finish.
3.5 The aroma is coniferous, some resin and fruit. Saturated yellow with good white foam. The taste is light coniferous with a small pleasant bitterness. The body is very light, medium carbonation.
3.4 Can. It pours an unclear orange body under a finger-thick off-white head. Citrusy aroma, lots of orange and grapefruit, with some grass and pine cones, and a subtle malt scent. It has a metallic touch on the tongue, lasting for quite some time, else it's a pleasant orange and grapefruit driven beer with a gentle malt base to back it up. Some flowery, perfumed notes too. Medium body and a nice carbonated, as well as a quite decent bitterness. Not bad this one, pity about the metallic flavor. 200430
3.6 Can. Clear golden, white head, fair lacing. Nose lemon, malt, pepper. Balanced bitter-sweet taste.
3.4 Workmanlike sesión IPA, medium citrus, medium bitterness, a little resin and decent body, pours amber gold, nice head. Solid!
3.5 Tap (Szynkarnia, Wrocław). A little bit sweet and citrus in aroma. Medium bitter with subtle sweet finish, light, quite nice.
3.4 Aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, fresh hops and some malt and pine. Golden with a white head. Medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter. Light to medium body with average carbonation. Dry and bitter finish. Overall a decent Session IPA. A bit thin as expected with the ABV.
3.7 Cask at the 2020 Manchester Beer Festival. Gold pour with a white head. Citrus and pear drops in the nose. Same approach in the taste. Bittersweet finish.
3.8 Clear golden appearance. Aroma is citrus and hops. Flavour is malt, citrus and hops.
3.5 A pint from the cask at the Turk's Head. Pours a pale amber with a white head. Aromas & tastes of fruit. Well balanced. Hoppy & a dry medium bitter finish. Very enjoyable
3.9 330ml can brewed in England at 4.1%. Light yellow orange, not fully opaque, visible pieces floating - yum. Good-sized and fair-duration head. Aroma of grapefruit and peach a la a peach yoghourt. Moderate carbonation. Prominent bready malt, Kingsmill 50/50? Citrus hops with some low grapefruit hints but mostly more orangey, and perhaps some peach mingling with the bread. It can't help deliver, along with its admirable realistic fruit juiciness and pithiness, the feeling of eating some bread that's been soaked in fruit juice, but to be honest, it's a fine drink regardless, and classically Northern Monk in taste. If you want a 4.1% IPA, this is a fine contender provided you don't mind its prominent bread characteristics.
3.7 Appearance: Light orange golden, hazy. Small off-white head. Aroma: Nice light fruits, grapefruit, clean hops. Taste: Light fruits, grapefruit, good amount of hops, resins. Bought: qoqa.ch, 330 ml can, CHF 4.50 Info: 28/12-2019, BB: 18/5-2020
3.7 0,33l can. Pours hazy golden with white head. Strong aroma of tropical fruit, pine, citrus. Taste is fresh, tropical, citrus, pine, slightly resinous. Mango, peach and grapefruit is very present.
3.4 18-DEC-2019, draft @Blue Raven. Slightly hazy golden with a lasting, lacing, white head. Fruity aroma. Taste is grape fruit, pine, peach, slight kerosene. Bitter, thin, lively carbonation. OK.
3.7 Can. Pours a quite light gold, with foamy white head. Very 'fresh' hops aroma, with fruits and citrus. Mildly oily mouthfeel. Distinct hops. Light finish, almost too light, but I suppose that's what a session IPA has in mind. Quite solid, hits its mark well.
3.4 Can 330ml at Konttori (20v). 2020-01-25. Pours cloudy golden with off white head. Aroma and taste have fresh fruityness, citrus, light grapefruit, pale malts, fruity hops. Medium to light body, average carbonation, fruity and little harsh finish.
4.1 Lloc: Beertuós. Molt agradable de beure, amb cos però gens pesada. No és gaire amarga.
