Nová Paka Granát

Previously 5.0% abv.

In the US, called BrouCzech Dark.

Pyrope or Bohemian garnet stones were randomly collected in our territory by ancient Celts. It is a stone of all-binding fire, passion as well as purity of heart. However, it is generally known as a stone of love. Thanks to its typical colour, its name has been used metaphorically in connection with the colour of dark and semi-dark beers. Granat from Nova Paka is a dark sweeter lager with quality rich foam that is suitable for mixing pale types; alcohol 5%.

It has flavors of bread and nuts with some caramel. There are some roasted notes. There is a bit of spiciness. It has a medium body. 2.7 Dark brown with a ruby hue. Foam leaves quickly. Nose. Dark malt, bread, caramel notes of fruit but weak. Taste. Bread, caramel, a little coffee. aka Staroprazske Dark by Woodmin Dark malts very weak, barely perceptible fried notes and black bread, and that's it... hopping is above moderate. Reminiscent of regional Czech pils, dark in color. 2.5
3.2 500ml bottle from Meik, drunk at home on a mild December evening. Essentially clear but almost thick enough to be opaque, dark garnet with a fluffy off-white head, plenty of lacing and a mass of fast-rising carbonation. Aromas of dry burnt caramel and toast, molasses, wood smoke and cereal. In the mouth, fairly thick texture, a flavour profile that follows the aromas, dry mouthfeel, minimal apparent sweetness, mid bitterness leading into a clean finish. At the Stout end of the Polotmavy spectrum, pretty good.
3.3 Roast and some nut. Not a bad dunkel, and comes together decently. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Some light leather. Bottle from Mega supermarket in Mexico. Earlier Rating: 11/15/2015 Total Score: 3.3 Some roast and light citrus. Pours black with great head. Bittersweet finish. Easy drinking. Definitely the best polotmavy ive had at this point. Tap at a polish restaurant in Williamsburg.
4.0 Cerveza balanceada con notas de maltas tostadas, chocolate y vainilla ligeramente. Deja un regusto que prevalece. Una muy buena opción.
3.2 Bottle pours out brown amber topped with a tan head. Nose is rich malts sweet caramel some wet cardboard. Taste is more of the sweet malts nutty notes and some paper.
3.6 Labeled as BrouCzech, nice brown color poured well with a slight head. Solid taste
3.2 650ml bottle from Bottle Shock in PSL, one of few remaining brews from the FLA trip. No bottle date. Pours a brown tan, with a beige head. Aroma has sweet and burnt malts, lemon & bread. Almost dopplebock-y, in a thinner way. Taste is of sweet malts, bread dough, caraway, and some yeasty-ness. Not to the possibility of the nose, and the yeast is a net negative. Medium bodied, there is little alcohol presence, and the blend is ok but no better. Finishes slightly sweet and doughy. Shrug? The nose had some promise. Didn't come through. 13.2
3.0 Bottle, as BrouCzech Dark. Light brown. Toasty, caramelly. Balanced but lacking in body.
3.1 Al momento de servir se observa una cerveza con carbonatacion media, un color marrón oscuro con destellos ambares a contra luz, muy buena espuman y contención. El aroma es tenue pero si se percibe y el retro gusto es agradable.
3.4 Draught @ Nova Paka (Torrevieja). Black color, beige head, good retention. Aroma is roasty with some notes of licorice. Flavor is similar as aroma but also some ashes are present as well.
3.4 On tap at BeerFes Osaka 2018. Nose of dark fruit and some yeastiness. Very dark brown color, with a massive rocky tan head. Fruity initial flavor, thin raisins and plums. Flavors diminish after mid palate. Medium body. Okay.
3.6 Tap at BeerFes Osaka 2018. Malty, bready nose, chocolate and caramel. Nice herbal hops in behind. Good malt showcase.
3.3 0.3 l on tap at 'Novopacká'. Clear, reddish amber with a medium large, dense, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, a little fruity aroma of caramel, some straw and traces of raisins. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, gently grassy-spicy and a little fruity taste of caramel, grains, some straw and traces of raisins, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy-spicy finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice one!

2.9 355ml bottle into pint glass. Pours a dark red/brown with a frothy tan coloured head. Nose is lightly roasted sweet cocoa. Light body, thin texture. Sweet and smoky at first, the finish is lingering coffee sourness with a hint of fruit. Reminiscent of an English brown ale.

2.1 500ml bottle. 4.6% alcohol, brewed at Bohemia Regent. Why the fuck is this brand exporting 2 different beers brewed at 2 different facilities through the same distro chain? Dark brown pour. Aroma is grian raisin. Flavor is metallic raisin, this brand suckss. Earlier Rating: 6/25/2017 Total Score: 3.3 500ml bottle, 4.7% abv. Pours a nice brown/reddish color with a creamy off-white head.Aroma is smokey raisin, bit of berry, dark bread, marmite. Flavor is light and refreshint, simple dark malt, hint of fruitiness, herbs, bitter finish. Effervescent and sparkling mouthfeel. Not bad. Earlier Rating: 3/16/2011 Total Score: 4.1 500ml bottle. It ours a dark brown with a foamy off-white/tannish head that dissipates quickly with little lacing. It smells really good. It has some caramel and cocoa underneath a fine blast of earthy, herbal noble hops. It stings the nostrils almost, very therapeutic in the smell. The taste is not quite as amazing but it is a solid Dunkel. IT is sweet, rich, and chocolatey with some caramel and a nice subtle noble hop bite. It is easy to drink, would be good on a hot summers day and a sweet but refreshing beverage. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-20-2011 23:13:33
2.7 Draught at Cesky Pivni Festival 2017 Aroma-caramel, Appearance-brown, clear, tan foam, Taste-light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, Palate-light body, thin feel, average carbonation, abrupt finish Overall-too watery
3.3 Bottle from Tres Bonne Cuisine. Labelled as 4.7%. Rating based on Tmavy style. Nice looking pour, Dark brown, allowing some light through, soft creamy beige head. Malty aroma, slight roasty character, some of the cooked vegetables essence that shows a beer’s been on the shelf (or on the boat) too long. Taste is malty and nutty, slight bitterness at the back. Again the vegetal flavors interfere a bit, but enough of the base shines through. Would love to have this fresh.
3.0 10th rater, making this beer legit. Another Brighton Beach purchase, always look for anything dark in those stores. 500mL bottle. Dark brown color with a large head at first that leads to a surface covering lacing. Its a typical slightly caramel, malt syrup, and some cheaply made lager. Earlier Rating: 3/12/2017 Total Score: 2.9 1st USA rating. This version says 4.7% but almost definitely the same beer. looks just like the current picture but a paper label rather than silk screen bottle. 500mL capped bottle purchased from a local Russian store. Pours a clear dark brown color. Head dies pretty quickly. Aroma is baked malts, metallic stale rye syrup. Smells old and cheap. Flavor is dry, lightly bittered caraway malts. A little watery and a stale caraway bread finish. A little malt sweetness around the other flavors. I wish I could try something like this fresh because I feel I am drinking old beer.
2.9 Can courtesy of HenrikSoegaard as "Brou Czech Dark", 5%. Dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel, bread and hop. Flavour is malt, caramel, bread, medium sweet, hop, grainy and a little bitter.
