Also known as Brou Czech Lager

6 km far from Nova Paka, there is a ruin of the Kumburk Castle, which was built in the early 14th century by the Markvartic family. The castle was reconstructed from time to time by various owners. In the Thirty Years War, it was devastated by the Swedes and in 1658 it was destroyed at the bidding of Emperor Leopold. The caste used to be the favourite destination of poet K. H. Macha. Kumburak is a pale lager with rich taste with velvety foam, alcohol 5%.

2.9 Decent stuff, but then even your average Czech pils is better than most other pale type lagers. Crisp saaz aroma and some grain profile. Golden pour with ok head. Crisp bitter finish. Bottle from Mega in Playa del Carmen.

2.2 From can labelled Brou Czech Lager at brunch at Jevíčko music school, Czech Republic, 13.04.19. Clear golden. Not much head. Aroma and taste of Eurilager, Czech pilsner malt, Czech hops and a hint of green apples.
2.6 500ml bottle. Pours clear deep gold with a medium sized white head. Aroma is slightly metallic, grainy, faint grassy hops. Taste is light sweet, malt, grain, light bitter, grass. Bland, watery and overrated. Earlier Rating: 3/7/2016 Total Score: 2.6 500ml bottle, very possible that this beer is made for Russia only. Pours pale yellow with almost no head. Aroma is caramel, grassy hops, slightly buttery. Taste is light sweet and grassy. Nothing significant about this one.
2.2 Rami Rami is drinking a Novopacké pivo 12° Kumburák by Pivovar Nová Paka at Kufle i Kapsle Maselko solidne, az slodke w odbiorze od niego. Zboze. Ciezkawe nieco, malo co2, praktycznie zero goryczki... slabo imho
3.1 bottle from local Russian supermarket. My version was brewed by Pivovary Lobkowicz. Clear pale golden yellow, tall and creamy white head. Shy malty background, light and elegant, with nice Saazy hops, shy hints of butter. Resiny-grassy hoppy flavours. Smooth and velvety carbonation. Nothing wrong here, an easy drinking simple Czech lager. Earlier Rating: 12/8/2014 Total Score: 2.8 Plastic bottle from local Russian supermarket. Golden colour, fluffy white head. Malty start with some bitter hops and a herbal overal character. Not bad! Earlier Rating: 12/9/2008 Total Score: 2.7 2l PET bottle. Produced in the Czech Republic for a Russian supermarket chain in Germany. Clear deep golden colour with an amber touch. Soapy-malty nose. Full-bodied, solid malty background with some hoppy bitter flavours and a touch of roasted (burnt?) malt shy hints of caramel. The hops are not as aromatic as in normal Nova Paka beers, they seem more uncontrolled and rough. A wild beer, but not bad at all. Hoppy-bitter finish. Earlier Rating: 10/7/2007 Total Score: 3.4 bottle. Nearly amber colour, medium-size head. Hoppy character with a solid and very pleasant maltyness which results in a lovely bitter-sweet character. Typical Czech lager, really lovely.

2.8 Smell - weak, hops. Foam - thin, bit soft, bit watery. Taste - weak bitterness, weak carbonation, easy drinking, but kind of meh. Cheaper beers with better taste.
3.5 500 ml can. A crystal clear golden coloured lager with a 1 finger white head. Medium amount of foam flakes in the glass. Salty crackers, cereal, spicy malts in nose. Crisp, dry & clean lager with proper crackery malts & Czech hops soft bitterness in aftertaste. Classic dry malty finish. I don't really know why so many people hate this lager. For me it's decent. A premium lager, indeed.
2.6 Брал в супермаркете Магнит за 80 р. Пены было много, перелилась через край, хотя наливал не быстро, но как то резко осела. Немного отдает луговой травой. На вкус средний лагер, ничего особенного. Вряд ли куплю еще раз.
3.2 Bottle. Golden colour, frothy head thst stays for a while. Aroma is mostly malt, some grassy hops. Light bitterness, light sweetness. Good.
3.4 This stuff is crazy! In bottle from beer store. Opened the top of bottle and nothing but foamy head coming out, not an explosion like it was shaken or anything but nothing but foam....take several sips to down it and it keeps coming up, down to half bottle and it keeps pumping out foam! This is the most CO2 from any beer I have ever had from a bottle. Anyway couldn't pour it, but smells of barely, malt , cereal. Obviously very foamy, but a smooth texture, not too hoppy....has a cereal like finish and linger. Pretty decent Pivo!
3.0 Very deep golden color. Slightly sweet mineral notes with some butter popcorn. Modest bitterness. Ok, but a bit too sweet and heavy.
2.4 Klasický výčepní ležák s typickými tóny tohoto stylu. Mírně cítit diacetyl a nedokvašené kvasnice. Pivo bylo jemně zatuchlé. I proto neuděluji vysoké hodnocení.
2.6 Malt, hops in aroma. Golden, clear with small white head. Malt, hops bitterness in taste. Light body, high carbonation.
2.8 Supermarket bottle, AirBnB on laundry day in Vilnius. Clear golden color white head. Lightly grassy aroma. Taste is lightly peppery.
3.6 On tap at Bohemia sorozo, Budapest. Pours very slightly hazy bronze color. Not as pale as the avg svetly. Aroma is sweet malts, not much hop character. Taste is similar, very mild, sessionable and with a hint of sweet bread. Finally in the finish I get some back of the mouth bitterness. While I like a pilsener with more hop characyer this one was cool. Could drink it all night.
2.2 V novopackej pivarni. Vona slabsia. Farba priesvitno zlatista. Chut jemne do sladka.
2.5 50cl Bottle @ Combini, Seville, Spain. Golden colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is malt, hints of herbs. Taste is malt, sweet, hints of herbs and grass, slightly bitter. Light body, average carbonation.
4.0 From Combini. In Bavaria hefe glass. At dinner, with biscotti + tuna. After futsal match. Malty, fresh, without oxidation notes. Good body , mouthfeel and bitterness, inviting to long sips. Grassy with light caramel notes.
1.4 500ml bottle, 5,2% alc brewed at Nymburk. Clear deep gold pour. Aroma is flat, weird malt character, plastic, gross. Flavor is autolyzed yeast, wax, plastic, bad. Earlier Rating: 6/25/2017 Total Score: 2.4 500ml bottle, 5.1% abv. Pours a clear deep gold. Foamy sudsy industrial white head. Aroma is herbal and lagery, bit vegetal. Flavor is bitter and a bit buttery, autolyzed yeast, leaves, bit to yeasty and garbagy. Know this is fresh because it was a distro sample, doesn’t taste that fresh or good though. Hops are fresh but there is something amiss with the yeast character. Earlier Rating: 3/15/2011 Total Score: 3.1 500ml bottle. It pours a deep, deep gold with a foamy white head that initially dissipates quickly hen holds up with a little centimeter of head above the beer. It is crystal clear with tons of visible carbonation bubbles. Not much lacing. The smell is interesting. Immediately it is bready and malty, then it works into some hops and even a hint of almost fruity bubblegum. The flavor is okay, a bit metallic at first. It has almost a subtle hint of smoke as well. It is primarily bready with a dry, hoppy finish. I don’t know what to think of it really, an oddball. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-25-2011 02:28:06
2.9 Bottle from Tres Bonne Cuisine. Dark golden pour with small, tight white head. Grainy aroma, slightly vegetal. TAste goes to to the grains, a lot of adjuncts here, easily detectable.Musty and funky, probably not fresh.
3.8 From old tasting notes. Honey gold color. Frothy white head. Buttery malt aroma. Bittersweet malt flavor.mwell hopped finish. Very true to the Bohemian tradition.
1.8 Quite sad maltiness, bit moldy grass, some rubber. Light sweetness with light bitterness and hint of sourness. No thx Earlier Rating: 9/11/2015 Total Score: 1.9 Very boring grainy pale lager, sad rubbery/corny nose, cardboard, if you close nose, quite drinkable, bit silky mess. Light sweetness with light bitterness. Uhh..
