2.912oz bottle. No apparent code date. Appearance: light brown, clear, with little off white foam head.
Aroma: Intense bing cherry. Hard do discern any other aroma.
Taste: Light toasted, chocolate malt with sweet cherry flavor on the backside. Malt flavor is light and one dimensional.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied, quite thin, with low carbonation.
Finish: bing cherry flavor lingers well more than any malt character.
Overall: This beer tastes as advertised. Malt charter is subdued, and body really thin, which lets the cherry flavoring overpower. With more malt character and body this could be a good beer. Would like to also see more of a true tart cherry flavor as opposed to the sweet flavoring in this beer.
2.9Bottle sample at Top of the Hops Biloxi. Hazy amber color, tan head. Aroma of chocolate covered cherry candy. Taste of artificial cherry and chocolate candy.
3.0bottle. Deep brown with small head. Rich chocolate malt with some artificial seeming cherry flavor. Sweet and slightly cloying, but not bad.
3.112 oz twist off bottle, part of the World Market winter 9 bottle mix pack, courtesy of my in-laws. The pour is light haze copper brown with a 1/2 inch off white head that falls fast. The aroma is dusty sweet cocoa and cherry fruit sweet. The cherry fruit is almost a cherry candy. The taste is dull caramel malt along with the cocoa powder and cherry sweet. Cherry is a bit unnatural though not unclean tasting. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and the sweet cherry cocoa finish. Overall, this beer is as advertised.
2.5bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of chocolate cherry. Clear amber brown with a beige rim head, no lace. There is only a little malt to begin this, followed by Bing cherry and dark chocolate, then a bit of bitter as it moves through a short finish. It does everything it advertises, but somehow, for me, it doesn’t work. Fair, nothing more.
1.6Fuck me running. This beer is awful. It uses flavor extracts to supposedly taste like a chocolate covered cherry but instead tastes and smell identically to a blue raspberry Tootsie Pop. It is super artificial, thin and weird. It smells more like chocolate than chocolate does and that’s not really a good thing. This is probably one of the worst non-spoiled, non-Lithuanian novelty beers I have ever had.
2.6Surprisingly nice dark pour and thick whip cream head. Nice note of a chocolate covered cherry right after the first bite.....then it tastes like a tootsie roll. Chemicals and artificial flavors.
3.8Julie says smells and taste like chocolate. Supper fun she gives a 3.3.
3.0This is an odd beer... I’m a big fan of the cordial cherry, and this comes off like a liquid version. If that was the goal, OFallon pulled off a miracle, with the tastes flowing in the correct order and pulling off a really nice copy. It’s an interesting choice just to taste the effort that went into making a beer replicate a candy experience.
3.1On 6/18/2011. Clear dull golden body with a small white head. Sweet chocolate and cherry aroma. Sweet cordial cherry flavor with some chocolate and caramel. Medium body moderate carbonation.
3.312 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 11/18/2013. Pours slightly hazy ruby brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, cherry, cherry skin, fudge, caramel, wheat, brown bread, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance of chocolate fudge and cherry notes with moderate malt presence; and good strength. Smells like a tootsie roll. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, fudge, cherry, cherry skin, caramel, brown bread, wheat, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, cherry, brown bread, wheat, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Okay flavor balance with moderate chocolate and cherry flavors and prominent wheat/bread malt; with decent robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is okay. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an okay flavored wheat beer. Aromas were quite nice, but flavors did not have much robustness of the chocolate/cherry notes. Kind of an odd beer at first, but I had no problem finishing it.
3.4Smells like a chocolate covered cherry. Tastes like Cherry Coke, some real cherry flavor, then a chocolate covered cherry. Taste lingers a bit afterward as well. I see some are really slamming this, but I didn’t think this was so bad, and I’m generally not much of a fan of O’Fallon at all. The beer does what it sets out to do. Pretty refreshing, different, and easy to drink. Definitely liked this more than I expected.
1.7Flavor of beer is almost entirely absent. Tastes like a liquid inexpensive chocolate covered cherry. Would make a good soda but a bit sweet for beer.
0.5Very cherry, and a very fake cherry. Everything about this is fake. Chocolate covered cherry flavor.
3.8Aroma is just like a candy chocolate cherry candy. mouthfeel is a bit thin and carbonated. Appearance is a thin fading head. For the abv I actually enjoy this beer. light chocolate cherry taste, overall enjoyable for a fruit beer, but i’m sure this has to be artificial flavors... if not its amazing.
2.2Bottle, thanks sevenhokie! Faux chocolate aroma with a little bit of cherry, resembles the smell of a tootsie roll. Pours a brownish amber with a medium, tan head and decent lacing. Tastes very much like a tootsie roll with a bit of cherry flavoring, but without much depth of flavor. Finishes smoothly but leaves the unappealing tootsie roll flavor on the palate. A rare misfire from ofallon.
3.212 oz. single from 20 West Liquors in Lombard, IL.. Poured to a smaller, festival Czech-pils type glass showing a clear, brownish amber color, with fair persistence to the soft white, foamy head, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The aroma was a dessert-like nose of sweetness, chocolate & candied cherry. The treat faded in the flavor, which also included low hop bitterness, decent carbonation that was a little seltzery, all in a light body. Expressive, Brachs-like nose, followed by okay sessionability.
3.3If only the flavor wasn’t quite so artificial. I enjoyed it overall and is definitely superior to Horny Goat Cherry Chocolate Stout.
3.2This beer is exactly what it says it is. The cherry and chocolate are powerful. The flavoring is a bit artificial tasting though.
2.4Trolololololololololololololololo. Tastes and smells exactly like a cherry tootsie pop.
0.9I did not drink this one recently, but this one was memorably bad so I came to spite rate it. I was hoping it would be a chocolate stout with a hint of cherry. Instead, it tastes like someone dissolved a couple cherry Tootsie Pops in an inferior stout. I am a man who likes his beer, but I drank half of one, opened another the next day to try again and show someone else how nasty it was, and then poured 4 down the drain.
2.9Pours clear, dark amber with a good sized, light tan head.
Aroma is poured chocolate, cherry...
Taste is huge, melted chocolate chip and cherries.
Really nothing to add to the description..
It is exactly what it says it is.
Tasty, but not beery.
3.0Bottle tasted at Oxford Tasting Nov 2012. Poured copper with minimal head. Aroma as advertised on the bottle. Chocolate and cherry weirdly close to bad cordials, not helped by being thin.
3.0Bottle. Reddish brown in color. Aroma is chocolate and cherry. Taste is chocolate and cherry. Taste a lot like Mike’s Chocolate Cherry alco-pop.
2.1Bottle. Pours a reddish brown color with white head. Chocolate covered cherry aroma and flavor. Not enjoyable to me.
3.2Bottle. Pours nice and smells great. the cherry is defiantly the dominant flavour on the tongue but has a pleasantly rich chocolate finish. Not bad all in all but i probably wouldn’t buy a whole six pack.
2.712 oz bottle. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma is chocolate covered cherries. Taste is chocolate covered cherries. It reminded me of chocolate covered cherries.
2.0Pours chestnut brown with slight red highlights. Small head and little lacing. Smells like a cherry cordial, fake cherry flavor and waxy chocolate with some graininess. Taste is slightly tart at first then cocoa and faint fake cherry with a weird, grainy finish. Thin mouthfeel and over carbonated to the extent that it is prickly on the tongue. Flavors do not mesh well and taste artificial. Would not buy again.
2.7Bottle intop glass, pours dark red with white head.. very strong cherry chocolate arpma, smells like a cherry cordial spot on.. Taste is exactly the same,(cherry cordial and beer) not bad for its style, but i dont like it
3.6bottle. weird one. clear amber with a small cream colored head. impressive ripe black cherry aroma with chocolate. smells like a chocolate cherry coke. flavor is really like a cherry coke with chocolate and caramel. very soda-like. its light and refreshing and easy to drink. i’m pretty sure there’s no alcohol in here. milk duds with black cherries. so odd, artificial, non-beer-like, but easy to drink, enticing, unique, crazy and just plain old good. awesome.
