That’s right, there’s hemp in this smooth, polished amber ale. To be specific, we use hemp seed - one of the oldest and healthiest of ingredients - to create a subtle toasted nutty flavor that compliments the hops (a botanical cousin to hemp) and rye.
We use Cara Rye and Malted Rye for a subtle spiciness and rich ruby color and Victory Malt to tie together the flavors with a nuttiness that compliments the hemp seed flavor. German Hallertauer hops add seasoning and we finish with Cascade hops for a crisp citrus aroma and taste.
This wide assortment of flavors harmonize, creating a uniquely smooth and flavorful beer! Enjoy!

3.0A beverage that arrives with minimal expectations because, really, what do you expect with so many ingredients? One quality this does not have is much of an aroma -- too many ingredients? But it looks darn fine and goes down with little trouble with a snappy little finish that gives a hint of the hop combo.
2.5(12oz bottle) Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, and herbs. Flavor of orange, grass, toasted rye, earthiness, florals, and caramel.
2.3Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine on 5/4/14. Aroma of menthol and malt. Malty flavor with cherry character before a hoppy finish. Some very odd things going on with this beer.
2.8bottle. amber with small head. sweet and malty. there’s a bit of rye in there. a bit bready. unexciting.
2.8Spruce hops, very hoppy. Having made rye bread before I can taste the rye and dareisay that adds a rye/bread-y element. Aroma ok, amber really just a basic amber taste...
3.3Bottle. Pours clear amber thin white lacing. Aroma of sweat bread, caramel, and toast. Taste is quite sweet. Medium body, smooth slick texture, bit of a funny butterscotch aftertaste from the combination of ingredients. Ok overall for something different.
3.9This smelled great. Toffee and malts, very English. The flavor was a bit malty but the rye was noticeable in that this was difficult to pin down. Good
1.8Botttle. Pours a thin amber with almost no head. Aroma IS sweet malt. Taste IS the same. There is no rye or hops to speak of (IMHO). Nasty diacetyl up front. Never again.
2.9bottle thanks to keir. not much in the aroma. slightly sweet. flavor is sweet with a slight buttery note. slight flavor but not much. really just beer. not much else. some pepper in the very end of the finish. not bad, but just not memorable.
3.5Clear amber with a thin cap of white head. The nose is very complex with an earthy spicy kinda herbalness and caratoffee. The taste is herbal and earthy with a sackcloth kinda tone and mild bitterness and mild toffee. Smooth semi-dry finish. A bit of piney resin but not much. Kinda amber malty tones mixed with "hemp" (not entirely sure what it smells like but I imagine like herbal grains) and piney hops.
3.1I was surprised actually here by the drinkableness of this. Don't ask me much else cause it was also forgettable ... No peaks to stand out but a decent pick in a pinch...
1.9Tastes like a mediocre homebrew. Pours a hazy amber with two fingers of head. Slight citrus aroma with some caramel. Tastes like caramel and earthy but like dirt, not in a good way. Finishes pretty dry. Medium to light bodied.
3.012oz bottle. Poured an amber color with a small sized off white head. Citrus, some spiciness, and a hint of caramel.
3.0Orange pour with a white head. The aroma is full of orange, toffee and grain. The flavor is similar with some toffee and biscuit notes up front and some orange and grass notes coming through later. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.0Flavor starts with some citrusy hops in the front, giving way to a very earthy/musky character with some caramel flavors throughout. Not sure about what the hemp adds, but I think the rye gives it sort of a nutty hint.
3.57/20/2010: O’Fallon Hemp Hop Rye Amber Ale... Aroma: Spicy and earthy; hints of citrus and tobacco; subtle caraway seed? Appearance: Mucky amber color with a dense head of beige-colored foam; decent head retention that slowly collapses to a frothy crown. Flavor: Earthy and floral/herbal; toffee maltiness; lots of spicy rye evident; bread crust and a tinge of tobacco; slightly nutty (from the hemp?); grassy/spicy hoppiness; mild bitterness that escalates with each sip;. Palate: Medium-bodied; easy to drink. Overall: Flavorful and unique; I love rye and really enjoyed this beer; I recommend this beer and look forward to having it again soon...
12 fl. oz. bottle () from Party Town in Bellevue, KY. Rating #151 for this beer.
2.5Bottle. Aroma is hoppy, grainy with something odd that I can't quite place. Perhaps a bit wheaty. Flavor is interesting, with the rye taking some heavy notes. Not sure what hemp tastes like but it could be what contributes the interesting flavor element.
3.0Amber pour with watery tan head and lace. Aroma is sweet malt, spices, and no hops to me. Flavor is really sweet rye malt, a vegetable funkiness, a bito bitter finish. Medium bodied and fizzy..
1.5Review from notes:
A - Pours copper red with a thin beige head that sinks quickly.
S - Sweet grain, sweet fermented fruit, some tangy caramel, not much going on here.
T - Sweet off the top with over ripened fruit, stale grain, hints of spicy grass, caramel undertones, finishes
M - Light body, with moderate prickly carbonation, slick and thin feel.
I couldn’t pick up any of the bold spicy hops that I was expecting and barely got a hint of rye. Pretty sweet with an odd tangyness that seemed out of place. This is a one and done for me.

3.3I thought this was a mild and very balanced beer. Hops, although definitely at the forefront become milder as the nuttiness and maltiness bring the drink to nice balanced finish. It’s not a complex beer but for a beer lover, I find it to be quite good and worth the $8 spent on it. It was very refreshing on a hot day by the grill but I could also see this being great for cooler conditions as well. Good beer.
2.7Bottled. Poured medium-deep orange with a short layer of beige head. The aroma picked up sweet biscuity notes, caramel, and rye.. some vanilla right on the back of the nose.. came across a bit too sweet. The flavor found sweet nutty notes, vanilla, and caramel at the core, with tart citrus and herbal notes around.. finished sweet with vanilla, nutty notes, and slightly aged hop bitterness. Light-medium bodied, more tart than expected, and a bit tacky on the palate.. this didn’t come together for me.
2.3Amber pour, smell of light bready malts and coconut. Flavor is again coconuty, slight metallic, not much else.
3.6Not bad, by any means. A nice nuttiness to the aftertaste. I taste no form of "hemp" in there at all, but I suppose it's just in there for the nutty taste.
2.9Unfortunately mild. There is little character in this beer despite having the distinction of a rye addition that should have lent it more spicyness.
1.6Since I just ripped on Chocolate Cherry Stout, I also will put in my assessment of this brew from long ago. It was just bitter and skunky to me, not worth it at all. After these two sad sad beer purchases I pretty much stayed away from OFallon altogether.
2.9Had this from a bottle at rocket. Cloudy orange taste. Bitter and somewhat unpleasant. Peanut and spicy flavor. Earthy. Doesn't do it for me
2.8Bottle from stem and stein. Pours amber with almost no head an little carbonation. There’s a bit of rye spiciness on the nose. On the palate is blandness. I can’t say I’m feeling this one.
3.2A decent rye beer. Really hoppy and not too bitter. Not a beer I would get again.
1.8It’s smooth, too smooth. Really lacks flavor. Not much of an aroma on this one. The amber coloring is one of the few positives.
2.8Pours light hazy copper color with a white head. Medium-bodied mouthfeel that is quite smooth and has a caramel, light hops taste. Tasty and unique yet still a true amber. Mild carbonation with a slight spicy aspect as well.
