O'Hara's Leann Folláin

O'Hara's Leann Folláin

True to it’s name, “Leann Folláin” being the Gaelic for “wholesome stout”, our full-bodied extra Irish stout is a fantastic example of how good stout can taste.

Flavours of dark chocolate tones with a hint of vanilla combine with the mild mocha aroma.

Opaque black in appearance with a tan head, this luxurious stout has a classic European hop bitterness giving a refreshing bite after the chocolate subsides.

3.5 Tap at Mel's Craft Beers & Diner, Vienna, Austria. Pours black, with fine cream foam, limited. Aroma is delicate of coffee, with hints of vanilla and caramelized figs. Body is average, with limited carbonation. Taste is medium roasty bitter, with a hint of sweetish base behind. Final is fairly long and roasty.

3.7 Can from Beers of Europe. Burnt malt, caramel, smoke, full body, good beer.
3.7 Almost opaque black color with small tanned head. Aroma has chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and some coffee. Taste is malty sweet with long somewhat bitter aftertaste. Flavors of caramel, roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla.
4.5 Black pour. Aroma of ash, chocolate and a hint of dark fruits. Flavour of chocolate and coffee as well as some dark fruits with a liquorice finish. Well bodied.
3.7 Bottle from the Kumiyama AEON Mall liquor shop. Dark brown color with a thin tan head. Spicy aroma, with a bit of char, dark fruit, and chocolate. Flavors of chocolate, dark fruit, and a bit of charred malt. Seems quite right for the style characteristics, except that the body is a bit too light. Very tasty.
3.2 pitch blaxck with a thin off-beige head. straightforward charcoal, darkroast coffee, very clear darkchocolate aroma. taste is quite bitter from hops, lacks the herbalism of their other stout, layers of bitter roasted malt, dry. thinnish body, i guess i expected a heavy stout for an irish stout of 6% when their other offering was 4.3%. perhaps alcohol added with simple sugars or invert. carbonation is too high. it's drinkable and has nice notes but i had higher hopes considering how amazing the lighter stout was. would drink or buy again.
3.5 Can. Black. Roasty nose, roasty, good clean surprisingly drinkable. Bitters roast bit charry. Nice.
3.6 Beige head after pouring.small carbonation bubbles.malty,creamy,roasty,smooth. Some bitterness. Bbf:28/02/2022
3.7 Clear dark brown color with creamy beige head. Aroma of roast, coffee, mild fruits and some chocolate. Taste has roast, licorice, subtle fruit, coffee. Finishes with hops. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Nice roasty stout
3.6 Bottled, 330ml from Beer52, Edinburgh. Black with beige head. This is a rich, roasty, bittering dark stout. It's quite smooth with roasted chocolate and coffee flavours. Full on the palate. Pretty decent.
3.6 Pours almost pitch black with one finger and a half of light brown head that shows good enough retention and lacing. Aroma is mainly chocolate, with hints of coffee and vanilla. There's a soft base, kinda freshly soft actually, in the aroma, but i can't really pick up a specific note. Overall a clean and quite intense aroma, though not very deep. Taste is very straightforward too: a light underlying base of mixed caramel and cola, rather strong chocolate note, hints of vanilla. Perfectly clean and wonderfully balanced in terms of sweetness/bitterness, with neither standing out in both taste and aftertaste. Again, not much depth. Medium bodied, with light fine-bubbled carbonation; a very nice silky-soft mouthfeel. This is not very impressive tastewise, but it's very well made and superbly balanced. A very good stout in it's relative simplicity.
3.8 Pours dark black with thick off white head, strong dark chocolate aroma, strong roastiness up front, hints of earthiness and smoke
4.0 13-03-21 // KKR Stout tasting. Full bodied. Semisweet with a bit of roastiness. Chocolate and coffee in the mix. Simpler yet delicious.
3.3 Bottle, 330ml. Pours dark brown to nearly black with a grayish brown head. Mouth feel is somewhat creamy and lightly starchy with a medium body and low carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet with gentle bitterness from hops and slightly from the malts, very low acidity. Flavors are dark malt, toasty, dark bread, mild boiled coffee, some hops lightly bitter and slightly green. Not at all smokey. The flavor is a bit too flat. Very easy drinking. Feels quite like a good old fashioned porter with a bit more hops.
3.7 Black with a medium light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and cocoa. Sweet with a roasted malt, chocolate and slightly dried fruit sense at the end. Medium/full body, I like.
3.7 I found this on Rakuten for about 3-400¥: O’hara’s Leann Follain Extra Irish Stout 6% Deep black with a creamy topping of foam and a semi-sweet roasty aroma featuring cacao and the smooth full velvety body is a treat with roasted oats and cacao with some sweetness to balance things out. Looking forward to trying the others I bought.
3.6 Bottle. Deep brownish-red with brownish head. The aroma has notes of dark bread, dark chocolate, coffee, some roast, earthy, nuts. The flavor is sweet and mild bitter with notes of dark chocolate, mocha, coffee, dark bread, nuts, creamy. Medium to full-bodied.
3.2 bottle. Poured opaque black with a settled tan head. Roasty aroma. Medium bodied, tight carbonation, an oily mouthfeel with a dry finish. Flavour of burnt malt, coffee, chocolate, a touch of alcohol and vanilla, bitter astringent note.
5.0 Great taste. Prefer drinking this from the bottle than Guinness from the can. Guinness best served at the bar!
2.6 Pours black with brown head that sticks around. Aroma of alcohol. Boozy taste with dark chocolate ending. Bit of a alcohol burn on the end. Rather light for stout.
3.8 Bottle from the lcbo. Black pour, medium beige head. Aroma is roasty, semi sweet, light cocoa and some good coffee notes. Mouth feel is a hit thin, carb is creamy. Finish is medium bitter, very roasty, big coffee notes and some fruity esters.
4.5 Кофейный стаут с горчинкой. Весь такой Ирландский.
3.7 330ml bottle. Black with small beige head, ringed retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, coffee beans. Taste is quite sweet with above flavours. Finish is dry with a decent bitterness. Moderate body, quite smooth, and carbonation works fine. Very good stout that hits all the right notes without having that extra something that the Guinness foreign stout has.
3.8 Dunkelbraune Farbe mit beiger Schaumkrone. Malziger, röstmalziger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, röstmalzig, Kaffee, Schokolade. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.
3.7 Bottle from Beer 52 Has a malty aroma with hints of coffee. Pours very dark reddish-brown with a generous beige head. Lots of roast malts in the mouth plus coffee, chocolate and liquorice, a real treat for the back of the throat ! Lovely creamy texture too. Chocolate and liquorice in the finish. This is great !
