O'so Lupulin Maximus IPA

O'so Lupulin Maximus IPA

The second you open this bottle there is no mistaking that this is not your average IPA. Massive hop additions of the most obnoxious breeds put this taste bud burner in a league all it’s own. Our bet is that you will think it is O’so Freakishly good! Caution! This brew is 9% and may contain a hop cone in every bottle (2009 to present vintages) ! We want to make sure to repeat this reminder that we put a hop cone in the bottle. Always pour into a glass to release the essence from the bottle.

3.0 33cl bottle @ Tommyknocker bar. Copper color, thick white head. Dried fruits, hops, tired hops. Flavor quite similar, sweetness, caramel, some pine, almonds. Feels old and tired.
4.0 Bottle at London Drinker BF 2016. Clear ish amber lasting beige head. Slightly not quite fresh aroma but the flavour is fresh fruit. Like peach and apricot on speed. Very hoppy. Settles down into a massively fruity ipa. Aroma still isn’t great but the rest is banging. Wow. Has hop leaves in. Wow. Picking hop flowers out of your mouth was entertaining.
3.7 12oz bottle pour at home with no bottling or enjoy by date. Hazy orange pour. Not overly carbonated, but had a nice malty backbone and bitterness.
3.3 Bottle at Craig’s place. It pours hazy golden – amber with a small white head. The nose is toasty, bitter- sweet, orange peel, tangerine, bergamot and piney resins. The taste is crisp, pretty bitter, earthy, waxy orange peel, tangerine, bergamot, touch of grapefruit, resin and some sweet toffee undertones. Medium body and fine carbonation. Feels a bit sweet in places, but overall its decent enough.
4.0 Bottle at Craigs. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of crystal malt, resin. Taste is bitter, bitter finish. Nice.
3.5 Bottle at craig’s. Pours pale orange, nose is pine, grapefruit, toffee, taste is similar, dry, bitter.
3.1 bottle at home ... golden amber .. small white head ... soft zezty passion ... long oily fruit nose ... soft sweet toffee .. thats toffee malts ... caramel toffee malts.. typical over toffee american ipa... but a bit more oily fruits in linger
3.1 Bottle at Pub Winston. Dark amber color, small white head, lace. Strong fruity hoppyness in the nose. Even overriped banana. Medium-bodied. Overriped sweet flavor. Late bitterness. A bit gimmicky with hop flower. Quite sweet dipa.
3.0 Bottle. Hazy copper colour with a scant head and the promised hop cone. Big hop aroma with a sweet malt background. Similar for the taste, a bit sweet and sticky, I suspect this bottle may be past its best as is quite flat.
3.4 (Bottle, 0.355 l - BB 31/10/2016 - importers sticker, at Kaisla, 20160108) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had tangerine, fruitiness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were tangerines, fruitiness, resin, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A bit unpleasant hoppy pale ale. Hoppiness lacked balance.
3.7 From a 12 oz bottle. Poured an orange amber color with a solid frothy head like water over a Wisconsin River dam. Smells like hops, hops, & hops. Citrusy grapefruit/lime. Has a medium/full mouth feel and I think I detect an ever so slight malt presense at the finish. The hop cone in bottle is kinda cool and I like this beer
3.6 Decent nose and pretty enough, this potentially potent beer hidez its alcohol well. Structurally its a bit flacid but its not bad and that hop cone gimick is hard to resist for any hophead.
3.4 Rated ti 22.12.2015. bottle. Amber clear. Boozy caramelly bit barleywiney nose. Hoppy citrus, some grapefruits. Nuts. Full med bodied. Sweetness, lots of bitters for balance tho, drinks quite well. Bitter piney overcooked caramels, some yeasty dirt dough. A bit, messy, but flavourful, iipa bordering on a barley wine. -- bb
3.8 355 ml bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. BBE 31.10.2016. Pours hazy orange color with a small head. Intense hops on the nose as expected, resin and lots of pine, sweet tropical fruits too. Caramel malt flavor, mango, orange and pine, resinous and a bit oily hops. Full-bodied, bitter and oily palate. Intense and tasty, maybe a bit too sweet. Good nonetheless. 4625
3.5 Bottle 355ml @ Konttori. Pours pale clear golden, creamy white head. Sweet caramel, tropical fruits in the aroma. Sweet flavor too, hops, fruity.
2.9 Bottle. Pours hazy amber, medium beige head, dissipates fairly quickly, some lacing. Aroma is perfume, caramel malts, and pine cones. Flavor is medium sweet and hugely bitter, caramel perfume and pine cones again. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. M.E.H.
3.4 Bottle, thanks to Matt, poured hazy copper with a thin white head and lacing with a beer-logged hop cone floating in top. Aromas of floral hop, resin, lemon, and caramel malt. Flavor is mild bitter and a little boozy.
2.3 Pours a hazy reddish amber with an off white head. The taste is caramel rich fruit, christmas spice. The taste is dense caramel, rich fruit, somewhat dry ending. Medium body with average carbonation.
3.2 Many thanks to Rian for sharing. Nice idea of putting a hop cone into a bottle. The beer has a sweetish body with a subtle layer of hops, that could be a bit more intense. Floral hints with malty sweetness in the aftertaste. Nice bitterness, but way too less hop profile. Still nice.
3.2 Pours a cloudy copper with small head. Aroma has some floral and some fruit. Flavor is bitter, with some underlying biscuity sweetness. Some citrus flavor, but kind of cloying and almost syrupy. Not my favorite.
3.9 an intensely hopped IPA. was suprised to see a hop cone pop out as i was pouring myself a glass of beer. smells dank and hoppy and tastes malty with a bitter hop finish. pours copper in color with a white head. dont eat the hop cone.
4.2 Poured from the warning labeled bottle, both bottles had hop cone inside (had put it in the freezer for 10 minutes and wondered how it froze so fast, then I realized it was the hop cone). Really good looking and tasting glasses of beer. Great taste and strong, extra point for the 9%. $8 for the 4-pack also gets points consideration.
3.5 12 oz bottle; no visible date. Pours a hazed golden orange amber with an off-white head. Spicy hop aroma, honey biscuit. Honey and spicy, grassy hops with a hint of pine. A bit of age on it. Still holds up fairly well.
4.1 On draft at the brewpub, snifter glass. (I later had some bottles of this as well, which had the hop cone inside. Cool!) Strongly hoppy aroma with notes of pine, resin, fresh, herbal, leafy tones and florals, very dank overall with very light toasted malt in the background. Medium-dark copper in color with a very fine, uneven head and sparse lacing. Flavor is a veritable hop explosion, with plenty of green, leafy, piney character, some faint citrus and earthiness but really just as fresh as can be, with more than adequate bitterness and a mild malty presence, some toasted caramel and honey to be found amidst the hop onslaught. Body is full, mouthfeel is effervescent and oily, quite a heft to it. This is a substantial beer indeed. Very nice!!
2.8 12oz bottle to snifter. Label says bottle MAY contain hop cone. Mine didn’t. Tastes like pine and grapefruit. Very sweet but overly bitter hop bite.
2.8 bottle, hasa whole hop cone in it which was a neat touch. Unfortunately it was a sugar diabeetus bomb. Cloying, meh.
3.5 Bottle w/ Hop Cone - Well - I thought it was a fun concept to try. Once. Some people probably find it to be a gimmick - but either way : The pour is murky golden caramel with a modest off white head into this glass. It pours on the slow side because the hop cone tries to block the pour - Perhaps this isn’t a brilliant idea afterall. Retention is average, with light spotting present. For fun - I pulled the hop cone out as well and let it rest on top of this foamy sea. The nose is somewhat striking - it’s oily, dank, mild tropical, with pine needle presence and light caramel. The flavor profile shares that feeling - it is somewhat striking - at least somewhat different, which I attribute to the hop cone. However ; for an IIPA - it’s just lacking in some avenues. Bittering pine needle, light citrus, caramel and biscuit presence - it’s dank for sure. And it does mellow here as well. Unfortunately, i find that the malt backbone is lacking, somewhat, which leads to the finish fading into some sort of obscure feeling, overall. Ah well.
3.0 Soft cloudy golden pour with 1 finer creamy firm head. Rich aroma, lots of malt sweetness and bready notes. Dextrinous. Sweet citrus and zest with some alcohol. A touch oxidized. Muddled/faded flavor with a thick bitterness and herbal hop profile. Very full body.
4.2 Pours a cloudy copper color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is of hops. Very creamy on the palate. Taste is a malt backbone with some caramel notes and a strong hop flavor that complements the malt. Not overly bitter but definitely has a strong hop presence. A very good IPA.
4.0 pours a hazy golden amber brown. Medium foamy white head. Great thick lacing. Aroma is very floral and slight citrus (not nearly as citrusy as many IPAs). tastes great. very hoppy, medium bitter, resiny, long but not overly bitter finish. A little bit of non-specific candy in there somewhere. Once I fished the hop cone out, I sniffed it and it smells the same, duh :-) Good beer!
