Oak Creek Nut Brown Ale

Oak Creek Nut Brown Ale

A 2002 Bronze Medal Winner in the North American Brewers' Association competition.
This northern Arizona favorite has a consistent nutty flavor with just a hint of
spice in its depths. A slowly emerging bitterness crops up along the way and
is unobtrusively incorporated into the smooth flow. It finishes with a gentle
nuttiness and spiciness. Excellent with sandwiches and subs.

1.2 [ bottle ][ 1oz ][ @tasting ][ $ ? ][ snifter ][ 11.14.15 ] translucent cherry-amber, no head. Tea and cinnamon sugar nose, watery otherwise. Thin tea front palate, plenty of brown sugar, thin sticky under-attenuation, caramel and cardboard through the thin end.
3.3 Ruby light brown. Big fluffy beige head. Cocoa. Toast. Nutty. Berries. Bigger light body. A bit of roast. A hint of sweetness. No bitterness. A fine classic brown ale, but its a style in desperate need of some innovation.

3.0 Draft. Poured a clear brown color with an average creamy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt, nuts and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.
2.5 Pour on tap at the brewery, reddish brown with white head, aroma brought notes of slight nutty note, grain, hints of bread, touch of red fruit, hints of spice, touch of yeast. Taste was a mix of yeast, bread, nuts, hints of red fruit into a bit of yeast, finishing fairly watery.
3.3 From file last updated 2010. Bottle. Pours dark amber. Aroma is malty with nut. Flavor matches. Not bitter.
2.5 Pours with very little head that quickly disappears. Very mild and light body, not much going on. Sweet with a mild malt flavor. Watery, easy to drink but not very exciting.
2.5 this ruby tinged brown ale pours with little head, and little retention. softly carbonated. aroma is sweet malt and somw nutiness. weak at first, but grows as it warms. little to no hop presence in the aroma or taste, but as the maltiness is not offensive, it’s a decent enough beer, if a little weak & light on the flavor profile. like a Sam Smiths Nut Brown light."
1.7 I’m having a hard time trying to enjoy this beer, I’ve had it several times now and there has been a 6 pack sitting in the fridge for a few weeks now being ignored. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a shaker; reddish/med brown, nice dense head that retains for 3-4 minutes. Thick mouthfeel but strangely watered down. Bitter burnt/roasted malts with a mellow sweetness, very light trace of caramel, if there are hops in here I don’t taste or smell them. Honestly, I can’t even detect the the nuts, the roasted flavor pretty much overwhelms any other flavors in this beer for me. The smell is very representational of the taste.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a small tan head on it. Nose is quite nutty with a lot of toasting. Taste is toasty and light with just a bit of sweetness on the back end. Decent brew.
3.4 Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 3/3/14 Aroma: The aroma is nutty and malty, nothing much beyond that, but on-style Appearance: It pours a nice chestnut color with a beige head and some strong lace Flavor: The flavor is nutty and malty as well, with a late lightly bitter hop component for balance Palate: This one has a soft mouthfeel with a light-medium body and a lightly dry finish Overall Impression: Not a bad nut brown at all. Simple and on-style, with just enough of a hop presence to keep it from being completely one-dimensional.
3.2 Deep amber brown quickly dissipating head. Nutty sweet smells. Nutty bitterness. Its wet malty nut finish.
2.0 Bottle from AJ’s Fine Foods Scottsdale. Pours brown with a thin khaki head. Decent toffee notes on the nose. Tastes like butterscotch. Ew! Luckily it doesn’t linger that long. Not feeling this one at all.
3.1 Dark brown translucent color, big head fades down to a stable white head. Strong aroma. I like my nut browns not quite as nutty as this I guess, this is borderline heavyhanded. It has some toasty notes too, but a light palate with a long aftertaste. Needs a more complex taste, maybe a different yeast or better combination of malts. It feels simple but it still tastes good.
3.1 Draught @ Oak Creek Pub and Grill, Sedona, AZ Pours clear amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, nuts and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with an average caramel finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
2.6 On tap at the brewpub. Pours amber with a small off wire head. Aroma of malt, caramel, some berries and a hint of toasted malt. Flavor is sweet and malty with some berries, caramel and fruitiness. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.0 On tap at the brewpub. A clear brown beer with a dense light beige head. Roasted nose with toffee hints and a nutty hint. A faint touch of prunes as well. The flavor is lightly roasted, toffee, nut hints and some prunes in the flavor. Some bitterness. Quite thin, with pleasant carbonation, dry. Roasted finish with toffee and bitterness. Except that it’s too thin on the palate, it’s a pretty nice beer. 130818
3.0 December 2011. Sampled at the brewpub in Sedona. Redbrown color with malty and nutty aromas. Sweet flavors, slighty bitter finish from the hops.
3.2 There are a lot of flavors here. Nutty with a slick mouthfeel. Some plum, caramel and earthiness.
4.6 The first time my buddy and I tried this beer was on draft at another brewery (in Flagstaff) and it was a guest brew. We were speechless and amazed at the complexities of the nutty flavor and malty finish. The next day we drove to Sedona to find the brewery and had another pint. We ordered a keg for our college graduation from the brewery, and have been enjoying ever since. This is a fantastic beer in an uncommon style.
2.5 Rated in 2010 (Backlog) - Brown in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is of nuts, malt and cardboard. Taste is quite nutty with some dirt and caramel.
3.8 On tap at Brewery & Grill in Sedona. Crystal clear, deep, dark amber color with a creamy beige head of moderate size and exceptional duration. Leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma: sweet malts with a strong dose of caramel.. Flavor: Sweet caramel malts with way more bittering hops than the nose suggests. Perhaps overly bitter in finish for style. Nice medium body; well-chosen medim-light in carbonation, O: very good.
3.5 Bottle: Color Brownish amber: Aroma: Peanut shells. Flavor: Has intense nutty/ roasted flavor. Smooth and light with an malt like finish. Very enjoyable a tad bit watery.
3.0 A - Pours a clear garnet/amber with a 1.5 finger kahki head S - Honey, brown bread, waffle batter, raisins, sugar coated black walnut, ripe plums, molasses.
