3.4Hazy straw body. Aroma is sharp grapefruit and lemon. Taste is moderate citrus bitterness, finishes with pine. Texture is medium.
3.7Grapefruit and pine. Nice balance and comes together well. Pours golden clear with decent head. Bitter end. Can.
4.0Odell Brewing’s India Pale Ale IPA 7.0 % ABV 60 IBU. This IPA pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a finger width slightly off white colored head that dissipates rather quickly leaving tons of lacing on the glass. The aroma screams citrus in the way of grapefruit peel and flesh with nice floral notes with hints of pine from the hops all wrapped up in a deep malty aroma. The flavor is of citrus grapefruit pith and pine as one would expect from a traditional IPA before it follows with a malty biscuity flavor then finishes with a nice hoppy bitterness but not overly bitter. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice amounts of carbonation and ends semi dry. 8/10
3.8On tap at Restaurant 415, Fort Collins. Cloudy orange, white head. Hoppy, pine, citrus, caramel malty backbone, some sweetness, lasting bitter finish. Medium bodied.
3.7Taste: woody, earthy toasted malts, nice spiced peppery hop character. Same with the nose. Amber color hue, mostly clear, with foamy head and sticky lace. Medium body, Easy to drink.
3.9Blatt Beer & Table, Omaha, draft. Dark yellow and mostly clear. Bubbly. Lacing and head fades. Bitter. Crisp. Good. Just a tad astringent, but good.
5.0Delicious. Grapefruit/citrus hop flavor up front, mild malt presence in the beginning that fades to a nice citrus peel hop finish. I could drink this all day. And my 4 year old actually suggested it, which makes it all the better.
4.27% ABV
VIEWHOUSE Denver - draft.
pours semi-murky gold with a decent off-white head. dank citrus aroma. full oily mouth feel. juicy citrus taste. moderate bitter. long fading bitter finish and linger. Nice.
3.7Really old note, Aug '17, draft at Falling Rock in Denver: gold pour, big sturdy
Floral, solid malt back, bisbuit, light bitter and citrus, 7.4
4.2ah, the old classically hopped ipa, but done quite well. good hops, tasty flavor.
3.210/28/18. On tap at International Tap House. Surprised I haven't rated this before, actually. Copper pour with a big khaki head that sticks. Citrus and pine on the aroma, touches of dough and caramel. A bit old school on the flavor, bright citrus, some pine, dank, bits of floral and earth atop caramel and dough. Meh.
3.7pours semi-murky gold with a decent off-white head. dank citrus aroma. full oily mouth feel. juicy citrus taste. moderate bitter. long fading bitter finish and linger. Nice.
3.3Can. Pours orange with a white head. Light citric hops, a little malty sweetness, some flowery bitterness, and a relatively balanced finish. A decent old-school IPA.
3.9Mild citrus/grapefruit aroma, amber/copper color, with a nice head. The lacing sticks around for quite a while. The hop flavor is mostly grapefruit and very well balanced. It's definitely not bitter and the finish is refreshing. Can't find the ibu rating, but I would guess it would be lower than the typical IPA. I really like how this beer is put together, good flavors, refreshing, nice feel to the body.
3.312 oz. bottle. Thanks, Dean! Pours a hazy, orange color, with a medium, foamy, beige head. Sharp piney aroma with some light floral notes, black pepper, and some butterscotch. Sweet, with a nice, assertive bitterness. Medium body, with a sticky, grainy, and hard mouthfeel. This is a simple and solid IPA.
3.812 oz bottle pours an almost clear orange color under a large, lasting rocky off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is exactly what is expected from an IPA, as is taste. Body is medium with slight carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Not heavy or syrupy, despite the 7%. Not the fruitiest, maltiest, or most bitter IPA I've tried, but a decent one with nothing at all to criticize -- just like so many American IPAs.
4.1Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 3/20/2018. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, never aggressive. Old school IPA, classic C and Amarillo hops. Great mix of juicy, dank, and earthy hop complexity; nice bready Vienna malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness. A really enjoyable offering, loved the hop profile.
4.5Great beer from Colorado. Lots of IPAs but this one stands out. Great taste. Great aftertaste
3.712floz bottle, BBD: 02.23.2018, $1.75 unit cost, nonic glass. For me, this beer typifies the American IPA. Its checks all the boxes as being pretty good - not quite good, but also above average. Appears a dark gold/light amber with cream colored head. The palate is a husky medium with pine-grapefruit bitterness. On the tip of my tongue, I detect some sweetness. This is fleeting as the beer washes through, and occasionally back to the front. I'll be back again as infrequent as it may be with this beer.
3.7355ml Can: Pours a slightly hazy golden with thin off-white head. Lacing. Caramel, citrus and bread crust and floral notes on the nose. Flavours include caramel, citrus and biscuit with floral notes from the hops. Bitterness is balanced nicely by the malt. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Overall a really good beer. Not quite sessionable but very tasty.
4.2From Mar 2007
This one pours from 12oz bottle(best by 091907) a slightly hazy orange gold with a good sized head of foam that sticks around for the entire session as a solid layer with a ton of nice lacing.
The smell is....hoppy! I'm getting lots of pine...lots of pine!
The taste on first sip..is all kinds of hoppy. Big pine, big hop oil, some lemon zest, and there's even some caramel malt in the background to take just a touch off the bitterness but not too much.. Nice.
Further sips in and the hops just continue to dominate, as they should, though I'd have to say, the bitterness that they're imparting on my palate is tasty as hell and just makes me want to take another sip, and another, and another....and even though it's at a "healthy" 7%abv, no ways near being what one could call a sessionable ale, I think it's a heck of a good drinker. I take my(BA) hat off to Odell for this one.
Bottom line: A very good IPA from Odell that certainly won't disappoint when it comes to flavour. I recommend it!
3.4Apricot orange, persistent head and very even lacing.
Melba toast, rye, malt, orange citrus. Serious IPA bitterness.
BBD: 10/25/17, consumed on: 9/25/17.
$9.99/multi sixer 12oz bottle, at Binny's, River Forest, IL
3.8From bottle. Crisp, hoppy, moderately piney, very floral. Not entirely refreshing but good taste. Long bitter after taste.
3.00.33 flaske. gyllen klær med hvitt skum. aroma fruktig.smak bitter og søt.veldig god.
3.5Pours deep gold from the bottle. Frothy white head with some lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, melon. Taste is bitter, quite dry, hints of an underlying, fruity sweetness. A very light warmth at the end. Body is medium, average carbonation. Overall pretty good, but nothing exceptional.
3.5-From can Edinburgh, Scotland- Pine, grapefruit and citrus. Sweet, hoppy and bitter finish. Good!
3.7The smell was really nice, the taste was amazingly smooth. Just a delicious IPA, great job Odell
3.5Very nice rounded IPA. Surprisingly high ABV for the taste but malt and hops in perfect harmony for a very drinkable drop.
3.4On tap at Falling Rock, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out piney hops, some herbal notes and biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with piney hops, herbal and vegetal notes, and biscuity malt. A bit on the herbal side, but it’s still certainly well-made. Nice IPA.
