Odell Levity Amber Ale

Odell Levity Amber Ale

Levity was named by our brewers to reflect the lightness of color in this highly drinkable golden amber ale. Extremely refreshing, this is a mild, crisp, hoppy pleasure to consume.

3.3 Bottle. Clear amber with an off white head that lasts. Aromas of caramel, light grass, spice and citrus. Flavor is caramel, light biscuit, and citrus. Light bodied, crisp finish.
3.4 Levity is one of those beers that would have impressed me a lot if I’d had it a few years ago. It’s smooth and balanced. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that this is an exemplary amber ale. Despite its stylistic purity, it just doesn’t present anything unique. I couldn’t get excited about Levity. That said, there’s nothing wrong with it. The nose is very malty. The Munich malt provides an inviting smell like that of a German lager and the Honey malt is true to its name. The taste is a little more complex but still rich and malty with biscuit and caramel tones. Hops become noticeable toward the finish with light citrus flavors. The mildly bitter and earthy finish reminded me of black tea. In all, Levity is a decent amber ale but it’s nowhere close to being Odell’s best beer.
3.5 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear light amber with a thin frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is sweet resin hop, malt and honey. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet, with a soft sweet toffee caramel, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
3.2 355ml bottle from Great Grog. Pours clear amber, thin,short-lived white head. Light orange and nutty aromas. Similar taste. Finishes sweet. OK.
2.8 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear amber pour with a thin white head, caramel and malt aroma, taste has marzipan some nuttiness, slight resinous hop, flavour combo doesn’t work for me.
3.5 pours orange with a white head. clean citrus aromas with light bread notes. med body with lemon, orange, caramel, honey and bread flavors. a bit of tartness lingers. bright finish with heavy citrus notes - a bit too much lemon though.
1.5 Pours a dark golden with a white head. This beer is fairly tasteless. Aroma is like a farmhouse ale but the taste I’d non-existent.
3.6 Another good beer from Odell brewing. Copper color, medium head. Crisp taste of hops with malty background.
3.3 Amber colour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma. Fairly bland but not unpleasant.
2.7 Bottle. A- Light fruit, yeasty, apricot, grains. A- Golden orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Slightly sweet, balanced, apricots, peaches, light fruits, subtle spices. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, mild finish. O- Not as full as I thought it might be. Granted the description doesn’t lead you to believe it will be, I still had this expectation in my mind. This is a good amber ale but not an exceptional one by any means. Has noticeable sweetness and fruit notes to it, and is sort of crisp, but also a little on the thin side. While I have no complaints, I probably wouldn’t try to seek it out.
2.5 Too sweet for me. Crisp and light. I like everything about it other than the sweetness.
3.5 Golden orange color with a small bit of head that settles around the ring. Smells of faint caramel, brown sugar, toffee, banana. Tastes of clove, spiciness, a light fruity sweetness, toffee. Very drinkable, good flavors. Enjoyable session beer.
3.1 (draft @ Odell Brewing - Fort Collins, CO) Amber pour with a thin white head. Mild malty aroma with some very light hops and a hop undertone. Slightly nutty and malty flavor with a rather dry and grassy finish. Not too bad.
3.2 I really like Odell beers and this is a nice hoppy amber, but I just find it difficult to get too excited about an amber beer in general. Watch the review in real time: http://teamchug.com/odell-levity-amber-ale-review
3.6 The color is a hazy amber color with a large off-white head, and the aroma fuses caramel malts with floral and resin hops. The taste is mildly bitter and slightly sour, for the hops are strong on the front end while fading slightly for the somewhat spicy malt bill on the tailend. However, the finish is still mostly bitter in flavor, and this helps balance out the average carbonation, medium body, and thick texture.
3.2 12 oz bottle from Cervantes a few nights ago. Crisp with toasted malts and a touch of bitter hops. Smooth and easy to drink.
3.9 Light, crisp, clean, no harsh metalic tastes. Good lace and head. I dunno why this is rated lower than 50.
2.8 [10/16/13] Draught at Brasserie 4:20 in Rome. Amber-colored with a white head. Aroma of malt, a bit of caramel, some floral hops and light fruitiness. Sweetish malty flavor with a bit of caramel, a bit of yeasty notes, light fruitiness, some floral hops, a bit of graininess and a mildly bitter finish. Medium-bodied.
3.3 Ambrata leggero malto lieve caramello bilanciata dall amaro non molto secca poco emozionante
3.9 Decent 2-finger head. Hazy orange-ish color. Nice lacing down the glass. A little bread and nice orange notes. Simple, bright, and clean. A good amber ale.
3.2 On tap @ Odell. Amber pour with a dense off-white head. Sweet caramel, some grass, and floral hops. Light orange peel, water, and toast. Flavors of caramel, toast, and grass. Mild bitterness, floral hops, and straw. Dry finish.
3.3 Pretty standard amber. Appearance is nice and I like the lingering thin head. Aroma are typical: malt, slight caramel note, biscuit, faint butter, and slight hop. Taste is similar with the caramel/biscuit flavors being most prevalent. If you want a subtle brew...this is for you.
3.0 Nice, cloudy amber-orange body with a thin white head. Faint aroma, taste of hops with definite hints of citrus. Finish clean, pretty good.
3.2 12oz bottle picked up at Total Beverage in CO Pours slightly cloudy dark golden with a small off-white head and light lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel and grassy. Flavors of malts, grassy and citrus OK, easy drinking
2.9 The word drinkability is too close to the word boring for me. There's a good slight malt flavor with high carbonation.
4.0 Appearance: pours a 2" sudsy off white head which slowly recedes leaving mild lacing. Color is a cloudy amber with some small particles in suspension. Significant carbonation evident. Aroma: light roasted barley, caramel, grassy and some earthy hop aroma. Mouthfeel: light, just slightly sticky, crisp, refreshing. Finish is quite dry. Flavor: toasted white bread, mild caramel, mild hop spice in the finish. Overall: Very pleasant, very drinkable. Most excellent.
2.6 bottle from macafoodles, reddish pour with off white head, very malty with hints of raisen, typical amber, just ok
2.6 12oz bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a half inch white head. Pretty weak aromas, some hops and a little caramel malt. Flavor is pretty watered down, a bit of hops up front with a malty backbone.
2.7 Pours an amber color. Some hops and sweetness on the nose. Hippy flavour. Not bad. On tap at independent ale house in rapid city.
3.0 Carmel color with nice lacing. Was served in a mason jar but overall had a very good flavor. Aroma was disappointing couldn’t really smell anything significant.
