If you’ve ever been to our brewery, you’ve likely seen the old, beat-up truck that hauls away our spent grain. That truck belongs to Lugene, who’s been feeding his dairy cows the hearty malt for over a decade. Named in his honor, Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout is brewed with milk sugar and milk chocolate. The rich and creamy brew reminds us of a cold glass of chocolate milk and our hometown "Aggie" roots. [High abv sweet stouts go into Imperial Stouts -GT2]

3.4This is a good chocolate stout with plenty of abv. Tasty and well balanced. Not too much of anything really. Enjoy!
4.112 oz. bottle. Poured dark brown/black with a tan head. Aroma was chocolates. Taste was sweet, malty and chocolate milk.
4.4Wow, taste easy and creamy like a regular milk stout. The booze is well hidden, maybe too well hidden just a hint on the back. Big chocolate flavor. Most imperial stouts force you to sip slowly. Not this I wanted another sip near immediately after the last, like a good dessert.
3.6I had this at Global Brew. Pours black with a tan head. Taste chocolate, roasted malt, smokey. I thought this was good. I could drink this again.
4.6Mmmm it's tasty beer you can smell chocolate and you just want to taste it! Nice color and taste.. I really liked it
3.5Bottle shared with dusty and tommy...nose is all chocolate from this dark brown/black pour...mouth needs a little more dark chocolate.
3.7Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate malt. Taste is sweet chocolate with a warm alcohol chocolate finish. Its pretty good.
4.7Aroma: cocoa/coffee/malt
Appearance: dark, tan head
Taste: medium sweet & bitter, very well balanced
Palate: more body on the back end, smooth finish
Overall: an awesome milk stout-had both bottle & draught
3.6The smell is malty, cocoa, somewhat fruity, dark as hell color, the taste is very smooth, really smooth. I could drink a 4 pack of this very easy and with an 8.5 ABV this could get you in trouble easy! I wish it were sweeter and to be honest I don’t taste a lot of milk chocolate. Very watery for a milk stout, would have to agree this is more of an imperial.
4.3Deep dark cocoa aroma, fudge, some coffee starts out this very dark treat. Sweet chocolate over the tongue with a lovely smokiness towards the end to make it a bit more serious. I was getting some leathery notes too. Like.
3.5Pitch black pour, viscous pour... Aroma of chocolate, lactose, roasted malts... Flavor is sweet chocolate, roasted malts, creamy mouthfeel... Some chocolate bitterness and sweetness on palate... Solid
3.612 Fl.Oz. Bottle. Poured deep black, huge tan head and lots of lacing all over the glass. Aroma of booze, chocolate and coffee combined with some malts. Taste is consistent; malts, some roast, milk chocolate and booze... A bit too sweet but certainly quite tasty. Very good beer, very enjoyable.
3.8330ml bottle. Black color with Beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa, licorice. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma With some fruits. Medium to full creamy body with soft carbonation.
3.7Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Creamy, chocolate, milky, caramel maltiness, roasted malt notes in the aroma.
4.2Black in color with a frothy, mocha colored head. Lacing is okay. Nutty and chocolaty aroma. I also notice some vanilla and a hint of cherry. Creamy texture with a smoothy sweet finish. Medium-bodied. It reminds me of those chocolate liquior bottles you could buy at costco around christmas time but not as strong. I thought it was a great beer to enjoy while watching a movie.
4.4This is a very tasty dessert beer. Its very thick with a mocha colored head. The beer tastes like thick fudge.
3.412fl oz bottle poured into an English pint. Black as oil with a medium brown head. Aroma is chocolate. Flavor is very much chocolate milk with a slight hops bite and some serious alcohol on the back end. Long bittersweet cocoa finish. Nice dessert beer.
4.3Scored a 4 pack of these while in St. Louis on a business trip. Pours an inky black with a small creamy chocolate colored head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma of cocoa, molasses, lactose. Taste is cocoa and milk chocolate through and through. Truth in advertising here. This is a very chocolaty beer! A bit of coffee, molasses, caramel and black licorice in the background. Very full bodied. Thick, creamy texture. Fairly high carbonation. Long, somewhat dry finish of cocoa and milk chocolate. Simply an outstanding chocolate stout! Great dessert beer.
4.0Pour from four pack of 12oz bottles. Smells like chocolate, soot, roast malts, and sweets. It’s dark, smooth and rich. Very good!
4.3From notes on 3/30/15
On tap at Odell. Wow, very silky smooth and delicious. Big chocolate taste and aroma. Like a chocolate shake, but it is beer.
3.7Bottle, shared with my wife. Dark brown, dark copper highlights, tan head. Aroma of cocoa powder with roasty undertones. Semi-sweet chocolate flavour without having an extract quality. Dark roasted malts balance out the residual sugars so that this doesn’t ever come close to being cloying-- not too sweet at all really. My only criticism is that this beer doesn’t have the weight or body of an imperial stout; it is an excellent sweet stout however.
3.8Bottle at home. Pours a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Lots of chocolate on the nose, and some roasty coffee. Flavor is lots of chocolate malt with some milky coffee. Smooth bodied, slightly sweet but not cloying. A nice beer.
3.7Bottle. Pours a dark brown with paperthin beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong milk chocolate and light roast. Slick mouthfeel with rich chocolate malt, easy to drink, very good.
4.3Nitro tap @ Odell Tap Room.
Pitch black, brown head.
Roasted aroma, choclate, coffee, vanilla, ash, tobacco, caramel, hops.
Semi-sweet, medium to full bodied, mid bitterness, creamy CO2.
Roasted, silky taste, chocolate, coffee, ash, caramel.
Incredibly smooth, well balanced, stupendously drinkable. (2014-04-06)
3.6Nitro Tap. Served a virtual black color with a thick head and ample lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate and a bit of malt. Taste of milk chocolate, bit of malt and nut in the background. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Full body, thick and creamy and a rich chocolate feel as expected. Nice beer but almost too much chocolate to really enjoy.
3.5Pours out with nice thick, creamy beige head. Some sweet chocolate at first sniff, more chocolate follows in the taste, pretty much dominates the character. Mild alcohol burn, but overall pretty pleasant
3.8Room temp pour from 12 oz bottle into Spiegelau stout glass. Fluffy head dissipates quickly leaving alright lacing. Beer is black as night-- I can see myself reflected in the glass. Nose is sweet and milky. No surprise there. A little malty too. Taste is very sweet and creamy. Milky. Chocolate comes quick and loud. Tastes kind of like a malty milk chocolate bar. Maybe a little too sweet for me. Spot on for a chocolate milk stout. Hides the alcohol well. Only a slight boozy aftertaste. A beer that delivers exactly what it promises.
3.8Draft. Black. Big creamy light brown head. Aroma is mostly roasty coffee, some cocoa. Flavor adds even more chocolate. Caramel. Tiny layer of fruitiness hidden underneath. Smooth lighter medium body. Creamy. I enjoyed it.
4.612oz to tulip. Pours black, head is a light coffee color. Aroma is malted milk and chocolate, almost like the taste of a whopper. Taste is smooth, creamy, slightly biscuity, and chocolate.
3.7Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, roasted, taste is sweet, liquorice, sweet chocolate, dry.
