Oedipus Mama

Oedipus Mama

Mama is our light and refreshing Pale Ale made with Centennial hops. A beer with which you can easily begin and end your day.

Although a Freudian connection jumps to mind, Mama has nothing to do with the Oedipus complex. Mama is our expression of a brew that is not complicated. Instead, she is very trustworthy, easy-going and reliable.

We developed Mama to showcase a low alcoholic beer (5% ABV) with tremendous flavor. This is a brew you come back to, time and again, just like your Mama.

Mama is dry, blond and has delicate aromas of citrus and lychee. Respectfully suitable for the assured ‘lager drinker’ – leaving the proverbial parental home for the first time – as well as the world weary adventurer who needs to fall into the loving arms of his or her Mama.

3.3 33 cl bottle at home. Drank on December 30th 2018 as Oedipus Mama (5,0%). Refreshing ale.
3.4 from Qbeer - light hazy golden-blond beer with a white foam left; nice lace; fruity aroma of melon and grapefruit; fizzy and lively palate, medium-bodied, a decent bitterness; light sticky, long resiney and fruity hoppy finish - a bit harsh
2.6 Bottle from Dirk. Fairly clear yellow with creamy white head. Thin hoppy aroma. Bitter and leafy with heavy mouthfeel and no spark.
3.5 F: medium, white, not long lasting. C: shiny gold, hazy. A: orange, tangerine, mellow tropical fruits, bit caramel, yeasty. T: tangerine, orange, mango, pineapple, bit pine, dry on the palate, bit yeasty, medium body and lower carbonation, not bad, refreshing, enjoyed, easy drinkable, 33cl bottle from Jumbo supermarket in Tilburg, Netherland.
3.7 Bottle, 33cl, bought @ Huttenheugte, Foodmarkt. Pours clear golden with a small, staying, creamy off-white head. Aroma has citrus and pine, light red apple and green strawberry. Medium carbonation, fine dry and fairly creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good crisp malts, piney hops, light grapefruit and citrus fruits. Solid bitterness, quite elegant.
3.1 Bottle. Aromat: hoppy, tangerine, citrus zest, acetaldehyde. Light body, harsh bitterness mixed with acetaldeyhde. Hoppy
2.4 June 2018. 330ml brown bottle, unfiltered, from BeerWulf for £2,29. 5%. I think APA is one of the great things that America has given the world. So I am predisposed to like it. The American IPA not so much. That's a typical over-the-top bigger-has-to-be-better American flaw. A common joke on Top Gear is that American cars were great at going fast in a straight line, but totally unable to handle anything interesting such as a curve or series of bends or a bit of off-road. IPA is that car. But APA has the interesting curves. Much copied and imitated since Sierra Nevada launched its Pale Ale in 1980, some brewers play around with the recipe to make their own mark. Not sure what Oedipus have done, but the recipe tweak is not to my taste. The result is muddled and muddy rather than sharp, fragrant and refreshing. Not my thing.
3.5 Bottle @ Malmö Öl & Whisky Festival 2018. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy finish.
3.2 Lekkere doordrinker voor een warme dag. Lekker bitter met voornamelijk citrussmaak.
4.3 No ordinary pale ale. This has all the nature of a craft pale ale, nice floral and citrus hop notes, Where it differs is the bite of sour, which is as surprising as it is complimentary. I've found Oedipus to be a haven of interest for the sour beer lover.
3.1 Bottle, Beer52. Orange amber colour, white foam. Decently balanced pale ale, pleasant sweet malt, fairly generic citrus hop. A perfectly fine pale ale.
3.0 Van tap tijdens Kannen en Kruiken festival Amersfoort. EBU 30. Citrus, lychee, drogig, wat ielige afdronk. (8-2017).
3.4 33 cl bottle served in snifter. Poured hazy amber with three finger off white head. Aroma: citrus, orange peel, grapefruit, caramel, vanilla, pineapple, mango. Taste: Orange, caramel, grapefruit, pineapple, bitter grassy hops, mango. Light body with fruity bittersweet finish.
3.8 Grassy, pine flavours, a bit of orange, grapefruit and pineapple and a little pink peppercorns. Aroma is fresh, herby, mouthfeel a little thin, but the pepper kick remains. Beautiful bronze with a thin white head. Good beer!
3.4 Pours amber with light head. Aroma is fruity, grapefruit, some pine, fresh, some wooden. Taste is pine, tropical fruits, some resin, some grass, hay, fresh, orange, bloodgrape. Nice beer!
3.4 33cl bottle from Beer52. A bright amber pour with a large cream head; mandarin aroma; lots of citrusy fruit in the mouth with a creamy texture and a strong sprucey bitterness to finish. Pleasantly assertive.
4.5 330ml Bottle from Beer52 drank at home on 23 Feb 18. Thought it was very nice.
3.1 Hazy amber beer, white head swiftly reduced to a film. Aroma is bittersweet tropical fruit, the flsvour initially follows suit but then ends up with a nice, bitter hoppiness throughout and into the finish. There's some tangy fruit cutting through it but this is like being somewhere between a super hoppy APA and a more traditional UK bitter almost, possibly because of the Golding hops. Pretty straightforward but refreshing and tasty.
3.2 Bottle from Brewklopedia, consumed at home. Dark gold and clear, with a little bit of white head. Heavy grapefruit and tangerine aroma. Bittersweet taste, well-balanced with candied orange peel notes and musty hops in the finish. Heavy carbonation. Competent and drinkable but there's not all that much to it. Not a memorable beer.
3.1 Clear golden body with a small, not lssting, white head. Citrus aroma. Taste is lemony again, a bit spicy. Long dry bitter finish. Easy to drink and refreshing
3.5 Bottled 330ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, fresh citrusy and light herbal nose. Sweetish malty, citrusy, light grassy and floral with mild spicy notes in rather bitter finish.
3.3 Strohfarben, trüb. Geruch nach Grapefruit, Mandarine. Leichter Hefegeruch. Im Geschmack dann trocken, mäßig bitter im Abgang.
3.7 kolor: złoty aromat: lekko cytrusowy, smak: delikatne limonka, grejpfrut, mocno herbaciane, goryczka biała skórka z grejpfruta i lekko ziołowa, średnio wysoka długo pozostaje w ustach, przyjemne, dobrze pijalne,
3.2 Yellow golden almost clear with a white head steadily sagging into a plaster layer on top of it. Citrus fruit peels, juicy fresh grapefruit and a mild caramel aroma. Less bitter taste than I expected which is a shame. Still a lot of flavors going on here. All of them are there, grapefruit, pine, some malts, hops etcetera. Thin to medium bodied with equal carbonation. Nice but not ballsy enough in my opinion. Pop in these Hops fellas!!!
3.7 33cl bottle from some dutch supermarket, @home 10-10-2017. BBD: 07-06-2018. Bottled: 07-06-2017. In short: citrusy bitter ale. DId I enjoy it: yes. Pours hazy orange with frothy off white head. Long head retention, big bubbled, some irregular scattered lacing. Citrusy, stone fruit, resinous and herbal nose. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is moderate bitter and dry, herbal, citrusy, little dry finish. Easy, quaffable and enjoyable.
3.7 Fles.
3.3 Bottle. Copper color short creamy head, some sediment. Pale malts and nice American hops. Pleasing finish
