SILVER METAL 2000 Great American Beer Festival! Big, bold hop flavors define this wonderful India Pale Ale. This is a stronger, hoppier version of a regular pale ale. Loads of Columbus, Cascade, Willamette and Centennial hops are used in this beer that would please any hop-head!

3.3Poured from a draft into a pint glass at Oggi’s in Santee, Calif. About 1 ½ fingers of head when I got it. Color was honey pale. Bubbly white lacing on the sides that lasted almost the entire pour. Nice amount of uneven film on the sides that lasted throughout the pour.
Smelled sweet floral notes. Pretty typical of an IPA. Got some lemon citrus notes, too.
Tasted pretty similar to the nose. Got citrus hops, mainly lemon. Lots of caramel malts. Not especially balanced.
Medium body. Watery texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish.
Not a bad beer, not a great beer. Somewhere in the middle. Pretty typical. I’d probably try it again.
3.5amber color, aroma of pine, citrus fruits, flavors of pine/citrus hops, toast, caramel, pretty average IPA
3.5Tap. Gold pour. Aroma of pine and tropical fruit. Taste is pine. Medium carbonation and body.
3.5draft. solid ipa. reminds me of a NW IPA....maybe it’s the hops they use. good beer. i’d drink again.
3.3Enjoyed as part of a sampler at Oggi’s in Garden Grove, CA. Appearance dark amber with not much head. Aroma more of an English IPA, dominated by malts with a light hop backing. Taste brings out more of the citrus elements, the maltiness actually goes away a bit, which is unique. It’s decent.
3.6Bomber from Hayduke. We enjoyed this together, he in California and I in Illinois, via facebook chat. This poured hazy and was a bit coppery. A big gushing head was fluffy and light. It lasted too long for my short patience. The nose was pine and pineapple with a bit of caramel. The flavor began with big hops that included pine and tart citrus. Caramel is noted but is almost overwhelmed by the hops. This could be a double IPA with the aggressive hops. They finally numbed my tongue enough to let some caramel in. This grew on me and was a really nice beer. Thanks Ron.
3.7Bottle. Light to moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, moderate pine and grapefruit for the hops, light soap for the yeast with background notes of pineapple, coriander, and paper. Head is large, frothy turning rocky, slightly off-white with fair lacing and is fully lasting. Color is sparkling clear golden amber, but the last pour is muddy amber/tan with some chunky pieces. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonation. Some odd but mostly excellent aromas, and the flavors are pretty good though a bit weak. This is still a top notch IPA.
2.4On tap in orange. Sour acidic taste with an after taste just. As bad. Not a good version of an IPA.
2.8Poured a hazy yellow color. Full frothey head. Aroma of citrus pine hops, some sour apple. Med-lite bitter, light sour. Creamy texture, ave carbonation. Too much sourness in this beer. Maybe skunked?
3.6Bomber, rust hue with tan head, carmel malt makes for heavier texture, still hoppy, nice mix of citrus and nector, overall decent balance
3.4On tap at champs. Gold with thin tan head. Aroma is faint pine. Flavor is pine. Not great.
2.8A: The pour is a golden orange/amber color with a finger of white head and some mild lacing.
S: Fairly typical and middle of the road IPA aroma to this beer. Heavy on the pine notes with a big lemon smell and some decent citrus peel. Bready malts and mild toffee give this some sweetness.
T: A big time lemon flavor that is almost like a lemon scented cleaner. Decently bitter with a bit of an herbal hop flavor and some grassiness. A moderate malt character with a mild sweetness.
M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation.
O: Not bad, but a really middle of the road IPA. Nothing I’d care to have again.
3.1tap at apple valley location-pours dark orange with a very small whtie head. huge smack of diacytl right out of the box-it shows on the flavors but has a more brittish taste to it, probably due to the diacytl. i dont think this was to be a brittish ipa, but it definately is like one. some resin/.dirty hops/pine comes in the finish but not very good. This could be good if it was clean.
3.3Bottle @ Hotelroom, Denver. Pours golden with a huge white head. Aroma of hops, grapefruit, melon and kiwi. ¨Taste is grapefruit, bitter orangepeel, melon´, slightly burned caramel. medium body, soft carbonation. Not bad. 080411
3.6From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center Denver 16/09/2010
Hoppy aroma. Golden coloured rich on the palate and hoppy with a tea flavour. Bitter lasting malt finish.
3.7Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a clear deep golden-orange with an average size semi-lasting fizzy off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma, quite resiny and cat-pee-like with lots of citrus fruit. Lovely flavour of resiny hops, citrus fruit and a nice bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. A bit one-dimensional but I don’t care, it’s a very good beer!
3.62011-03-04. Crisp golden orange body nice foamy beige head. 4+ Hoppy aroma, orange, citrus seed, light alcohol. 7+ Flavour is fairly bitter, dry citrus seed notes, very slightly astringent at times, muted citrus seeds linger in the finish with notes of grapefruit. 7+ Smooth average bodied palate. Enjoyable IPA grows on me as it goes. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry
3.5Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Golden orange/brown with a decent off white head. Aroma: Tangy, hops, quite malty with strawberry & spice. Flavour: quite spicy at first, malty, quite a good grassy hop bite, long alcoholic finish.
3.922oz bomber. Unfiltered glowing orange-brown color, frothy off-white head. Fresh citrus aroma, somewhat subdued. Fresh orange citrus notes with a toasty malt background. Hop centered, this is a really nice example of a West Coast IPA. Somewhat dry, quite refreshing.
3.3Tap at Point Loma. Pours hazy copper with an average, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel, toasted), heavy hops (earthy, herbal, grassy), and average esters (apple/pear). Flavor is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel, toasted), heavy hops (earthy, herbal, grassy, pine), and average esters (apple/pear). Medium body, warmth, and carbonation, low creaminess with a dry and biting finish.
1.2A: way too light to be an ipa. Looks like a lager.
S: almost nothing. Less hop presence than the pale ale. Terrible.
T: grassy or wheaty and way too bitter. Not hop bitter--bitter face tape bitter. Gross.
M: exceedingly dry with minimal carbonation.
D: I would not have another.
1.0This reminds me of something that is not intended for consumption. It tastes like you chewed an Aspirin and washed it down with warm flavored Tea. I took one drink and the retched flavor remains on my tongue several minutes later. I’m going to hold my nose and power it down as it is my last beer and wanted to catch a buzz.
3.2Bomber labeled as Left Coast Torrey Pines IPA. Pours an orangey-gold with a huge pillowtop of white head that clings like a champ, sheeting the glass with lace the whole way down. Aroma is somewhat subtle, with modest spruce and spicy hop leaves jumping out. Flavor is a little more in-your-face, with a strong shot of hop bitterness, spice, and just a touch of citrus at the back end. Sticky hop resin and a sharp, dry finish.
3.7On tap at Oggi’s in Garden Grove. Pours clear orange with white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, good amount of hops, and some sweet malts. Flavors of bitter hops, sweet caramel malts, and enough citrus and pine to keep it honest. Solid IPA.
2.8Not too impressed with this one but it was one of the remaining beers at the store I hadn’t tried, basic iPA with the deep resiny taste and a hint of spice but not bad just off easy to drink and no alcohol burn to speak of not bad value at 4.40 a bomber
3.1Sampled at the Great American Beer Festival on September 16, 2010. Clear yellowish-orange color. Aroma is kind of green, light, and soapy. Interesting, an almost spicy kind of licorice, but not. Not too impressed with the flavor either. It has a strange, weird, weird bite to it.
3.1Draught at Oggi’s, Sta. Clarita, CA. Clear amber, small head Aroma of pine needles, resin and kumquat. Mid sweet with sold body. Flavour of caramel and salted kumquat. Heavily resiny bitterness. Edgy, but flavourful.
3.4Tap at Glendale,AZ. Gold pour. White head. Good hop aroma, citrus, pine, spicy hops. Flavor isnt as hoppy as the aroma, but still packs a nice resinous and citrus hop bite with some malt to balance. Not bad.
4.0On tap at half moon in Kennett Sqaure PA. Pours a dark orange color, small head that stuck around. Nice aroma of some bittering hops. Taste is smack to the face with hops..... Just bitter..... dry....piney..... no after taste at all..... clean and crisp.... light in texture.... Great beer. Wish I could score this in bottles.
3.8The Dan Journal #362. Tasted 6/28/10. 22oz bomber. Filtered with a deep golden hue. Clinging off-white head. Aromas of citrus hops and faint vanilla frosting. Medium to full bodied with mild toasty malts and bitter grapefruit hops. Really nice hop bitterness. Tart and tangy finish. Nicely done!
