First brewed by Okanagan Spring in 1989, Extra Special Pale Ale is BC’s original pale ale and first craft brand. Clear and copper coloured, it’s fruity on the palate, hearty in hops, and firm in body with a nice dry finish.

2.9Pretty decent and Anne liked it. Malt dominated. A bit low on hops but English style and true to style. On tap at Yanks.
3.3Poured a coppery amber appearance, sort of reddish hue. The head just went away pretty quickly and has weak lacing. Malty and grainy aromas. Has a pretty good balance of hops and malts in the flavour, with a touch of nutmeg and some spices. Has a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Not too bad.
2.2Pours dark copper with a decent off white head. Not much of an aroma. Tastes of nuts and carmel but it’s a bit tinny. Not my favorite from Okanagan spring, I prefer their porter.
2.4Transparent ruby copper hue with negligible head size. Extremely stunted aroma containing mild notes of caramel, cereal, and citrus. Light bodied. Tastes akin to its scent with added emphasis on cereal grains. Mildly sweet and smooth finish. A tolerable premium lager, but an atrocious pale ale.
2.7Earthy, barley aroma. Clear copper with a thicker white top. Taste of malt, hint of hop and toffee. Cant say its a favorite but its alright.
2.00,341 bottle. Clear, dark gold color and a small, white head. Aroma of pale malts, yeasts, and grains. Taste is soft, grainy, malty - really substandard. Light body, slick texture, and lively carbonation. Finish is more floral but otherwise also second rate. Overall a shoddy brew, nothing to talk about.
3.1Drank from a pint glass, poured from a bottle, thank you Björn!! Pours a nice red color! Nice beer aroma, a really nice brew!!
2.4Pours a honey colour with a big head with an average amount of lace. Tastes nutty, malty with hop bitterness. Comes off dry at the end. Slightly below average. Not as good as their Porter
2.4Draft. It’s light brown-red with a small white head. The aroma is weak but has a lot of yeast. The taste has a lot of salt and licorice. Quite exciting.
3.06/30/2011 4:20:44 AM On tap in cafe on Toronto Island. Inviting copper body with small head. Nose was roasty caramel and malts. With citrus notes. Taste also a bit darker and slightly sweet. Nice hops in there too. Quite enjoyable.
2.8On tap at Toad in the Hole. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bread and earthy grains with a touch of grass underlying. Flavor has bread throughout with touches if earthy grain and grass.
3.1341 ml bottle from a winter assortment twelve-pack from Sobeys Liquor outlet, served in a pilsner flute. Pours a very attractive, sparkling clear orange-amber, with low carbonation and a fluffy white cap that leaves bubbly streaks of lace. Aroma is mild floral hops and faintly sweet malt; flavor is much the same, with hops so soft this pale ale could stand in for a lager. A small amount of body is present, and leaves a generally clean, slightly dry finish. Okay, but it’s lacking in any noticeable ale "snap".
2.6Copper in colour, malty smell. Hints of vanilla in the taste with low hop levels for a pale ale. Not what I would call a traditional Pale Ale in flavour.
3.9341ml bottle poured into a snifter around 6 degrees. Pours a clear copper topped by a finger of lacy white head. The nose is grainy and grassy with a slght roasted nuts back end. The taste is once again grainy with the hops coming through nicely with the roasted malts. The density is interesting and the finish is pretty fry. Cheers!
3.2Poured from bottle. Aroma of bread and cereal. Pours a clear golden with white head. Taste is medium bitter. Light to medium body with oily texture. An fine brew.
2.3Bottle left by my uncle A: caramel, earthy hop, cooked vegetables app: clear dark copper white head good lacing.T/p:med body short bitter finish. O: bof. Macro character aroma is off.
2.4On tap. Artificial light syrup and bready aroma. Some almond flavouring and a soft lightly sweetened palate. Bit of a nothing beer really
2.0Pours a nice deep copper color, hardly and carbonation though. Smells VERY malty... not what I expected on a "pale ale". Taste is sweet at first, like carmelized corn syrup. Transitions to the hops, but it’s all resin bitterness and no hop oils for flavor or aroma. Clean drink mostly, but not a pale ale.
2.2Can. Copper, white fluffy head. Smells grainy, and rather bland. Tastes even more bland. Beats drinking macro piss lager I guess.
2.5On tap. Clear copper with a frothy white head. Flavors are caramel, leaves and toasted malts with earthy and fruity notes. Light body, moderate to high carbonation, thin texture.
1.4When I see the words ’pale ale’, I develop this biased expectation that involves a rich, resiny hops flavour. This doesn’t have it. Looks lovely with a dark amber colour, but it tastes like cardboard.
3.2On tap at Gate 403. Pours a clear caramel with a thin off white head that leaves rings of lacing, and mild carbonation. Aroma has mild notes of caramel, and fruity esters. Taste is balanced. Mild toasted bready with slight caramel, fruit esters, and a mild aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly creamy in the mouth with a semi dry finish. Overall pretty tasty and easy drinking.
2.2Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Aroma of light caramel and sweet malts with some fruity esthers and light earthy/grassy hops. Taste is much of the same and not bold like an epa should be... Needs more hop and caramel malt flavors.
2.6Fruity malt aroma. Clear orange color with a medium wore head. Mild bitter beginning that gets sweet in the finish.
2.0Had this for dessert at breakfast on Memorial Day. The stout was much better. This is awful. Tastes a little but better than urine I have to guess
Update: having this again 5/29/2016. It still tastes a little bit better than urine
2.6Bottle. Amber colour. Aroma is light. Taste is bread, caramel. Patio beer. Will be easily forgotten.
2.9Not much to this one but pretty easy drinking. Well balanced. Refreshing on a warm day.
