Okocim Porter
Another, after Okocim Wheat, koneserski variant in the family Okocim, which promises exceptional taste and aesthetic experiences. By combining several types of malt, including Munich, caramel and roasted, and two month aging period okocimski Porter reached a unique dark color and a deep, noble taste, seasoned with hints of cedar.

Poured from bottle(room temp) a pitch black with a smallish head of brown foam that dissipates slowly leaving a couple of "islands" in the middle of the glass.
The smell is of roasty sweet malt with some notes of chocolate.
The taste is sweet roasted malt and chocolate with some of the alcohol poking its head(no pun intended) through providing a nice warming sensation.
Bottom line: It's not as big and bold as the samples I had before the temporary halt of exportation but...it's still a great drop.
I think I'll save the other 2 bottles for later this year and see how things change.
Edit: May 29, 2006: I had to give 1 of my 2 remaining bottles a try and I have to say the flavour has evolved enough to make a difference. I note a more sweetish malt with anise tones and the body is bordering on syrupy...aging is doing fine so I'll keep my last bottle for say, the end of the year.
From old tasting notes. Black, brown color. Thick, bubbly tan head. Sweet roasted malt nose. Intensely sweet treacle malt flavor dominates from start to finish. More like a sweet stout than a porter.

Piana drobna obfita, opada powoli, zdobi szkło. Aromat słodki, praliny, suszone owoce, bardzo przyjemny. Smak, uderza gładka struktura, słodki porter, dużo suszonych owoców, czekolada, karmel, melanoidyny, alkohol ułożony wyczuwalny jedynie w szlachetny sposób. Piwo ułożyło sie genialnie, Jednak Porter z tego browaru jest bardzo nie równy zdarzają się warki fatalne, tej należy się szacunek WOW.
Originally rated on 1/14/2009. I sampled this one after sinebrychoff and i prefered the okocim. The aroma had alot of fruit notes along with the toasted malts, and chocolate. Flavor was similar to the aroma with the sweet fruit, chocolate, and coffee finish, very smooth despite the high alcohol content. Overall it was a very fine porter thats worth a try.
Bottle at Papryczki Pizzeria in Krakow. Dark clear brown with a big beige head. Aroma of molasses, soy sauce, and roast. Tastes roasty and just a little sweet. Medium bodied.

500ml Bottle - Black with a tan head. Blackcurrant, molasses and salmiakki in the aroma. Malty, roasted and fairly sweet taste with blackcurrant, grain, liquorice and plain chocolate.

Aroma: chocolate, coffee, sweetness. Appearance: brown, beige foam. Teste: heavy sweetness. Palate: sticky, average carbonation. Overall: I had a problem with drinking it because it is so sweet.

Czarne, nieprzejrzyste z ciemnobrązowymi przebłyskami. Piękna kremowa drobno i średniopęcherzykowa piana, bardzo powoli opadająca. W aromacie głównie czekoladowość, ciemne słody, lekka alkoholowość. Po nienajgorszym początku przychodzi pierwszy łyk i - bez szału. Słodko, momentami aż za słodko. Słodowo. Czuć alkohol, a końcówka jest bardzo nieprzyjemna. Z każdym kolejnym łykiem odechciewa się pić dalej. Wysycenie niskie, piwo dosyć gładkie. Nic więcej się w nim nie dzieje.
Bottle at some random touristy restaurant in Gdansk. Pours black with mahogany hue, thick tan head. Retention good, lace alright. The nose is somewhat messy, earthy and chocolaty, yeasty, cranberry, kinda spicy (cinnamon?). Tastes sweet of chocolate most of all, continuing earthy herbal bitter with roasty dryness. Crisp yet mellow thin carbonation. Overall a very macro impression (had no idea it was a Carlsberg when I was drinking it), overly sweet and not exactly crafted, in fact quite robust, and the mild dirty notes are distracting but all in all it’s not too bad. Still, overrated.
Decent Baltic Porter, among other Polish Porters one of the best, worth trying again.
Didn’t have time to go to store and buy some craft so I ended up getting that. Very nice porter. Chocolate and some cherries. Very creamy and smooth. A little bit of alcohol.
Bez owijania w bawełnę - bardzo dobry porter. Całkiem gęsty, całkiem słodki, z wyczuwalną palonością, czekoladowy, kawowy. Aromat intensywny. Relatywnie wysokie nagazowanie i przyjemna goryczka czynią z tego piwa produkt godny polecenia.
Aromat słodki, czekoladowy, intensywny. Barwa prawie czarna, nieprzejrzysta, z rubinowymi przebłyskami. Piana ładna, utrzymująca się. W smaku paloność, słodycz, goryczka średnia, przede wszystkim palona, trochę alkoholowa. Delikatne rozgrzewanie w przełyk, jednak alkohol nie jest przeszkadzający. Dobrze ułożone, nasycenie jest nie przesadzone. Bardzo dobry porter, uważam że lepszy niż główny konkurent z Żywca.
Myślałem, że już dawno "retired". Pite jakiś czas temu. Pamiętam, że było ok, choć zdecydowanie za bardzo ulepek jak dla mnie.
Potwierdza si? prawda, ?e Okocim musia? wypu?ci? jak?? specjaln? warke na konkurs. W przypadku mojej degustacji od razu w zapachu czu? ?elazo! W smaku na wst?pie to samo. Dopiero po chwili nuty karmelowe, delikatna czekolada i ciemne owoce. Piana na pocz?tku g?sta, ale po chwili opada. Piwo przeci?tne.

W aromacie początkowo uderza potężna śliwka węgierka, lecz potem coraz gorzej, popiół, ziemistość, chyba lekki dms, mokra szmata... W smaku podobnie, raczej puste, popiołowo gryzące, wręcz cierpkie, mokra szmata, śladowa czekolada, likierowe, alkoholowe. To i tak zbyt wygórowana ocena, zawyżona przez bardzo pozytywne pierwsze wrażenie aromatyczne.

Bottle. Good aroma, caramel malt and roasted. Taste: slightly sweet, malty, with prunes, roasted, caramel, coffee and wine.
Aroma is sweet as liquor. A bit of caramel, coffee and molasses. In taste sweetness, coffee. It’s sweet, then quite bitter from hops, and then sweet finish from malts. Quite full bodied. Is’s dark, almost pitch black.

In Gdansk. Rich, creamy black with brown light. Good cream foam. Deep, sweet aroma. molasses. Some light smoke. Sweet, balanced, nice body. Good beer.
BB: 10.01.2016. Aroma is caramel, plum and cherry. Dark brown colour with not high tan head. Caramel in the taste mixed with succades, lack of bitterness, too sweet. I was able to drink, but a little tiring.

Dark ruby color, small head. Aroma is cherry, liqueur, some chocolate. Taste is dry at start but than goes sweetness that stay to finish. Chocolate and dry fruits flavors, also cherry and alcohol. Full body, smooth texture and low carbonation. Very nice baltic porter.
