2.7 Pint can. Nose sweet, subtle perfume and corn, even possibly light hops. Pour very, very clear golden, still rich and attractive, supports a large and soapy bright white head. Taste actually drier than expected for this kind of beer, well-attenuated, a bit fizzy but crisp in the light body, a little bit of malt for structure, smooth-drinking throughout, no alcohol (though I can't quite shake the hangover connotation). Perfume / corn very mild here, and I think the result is drinkability -- seems a bit closer to a cream ale than most. No rough edges, or else they've been sanded off. Drinking this blind, I'd say one of the best of the beasts, one I'll happily revisit. [2018.10.28: 2.7]
1.4 473ml can from Walmart, Xiamen with a label unacceptable in the days of MeToo, or any days for that matter. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of malt. Malt taste. Sweet finish.
1.4 Been a good twenty years waiting to try this one, for reasons that are complicated. So here goes. Into a shaker for that all important authenticity. It looks pretty good, which means science and engineering have played more of a part than the brewers. Pillowy, snow-white foam holds steady for the length. The beer well charged with carbonation is a strained, yellow gold body. Bright as bright and thinly looking. That aroma. Wow, nothing at all initially! Really struggled past a hint of corn, cardboard and dried, mown grass, but so faint. Drabby and flabby on the palate. Flat, thin, watery but ceding up a lot of cardboard. Hops? Stale! Malt? You got to be kidding me! Low to no bitterness. Husky and phenolic in back. Moderate amount of dried mown grass in the finish. Rice, starch-like clagginess coats the tongue. Better than anticipated, which is a far cry from my notes. Out the way. Tick! (47,3cL can, BB 18/05/18, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
4.0 Going by the other comments, maybe it’s just me, but I thought this stuff was lovely. Perfect light beer on a hot day.
1.5 Had it a few times and haven’t been back. Meh at best, at least the cans have cool designs.
0.5 A light lager, stress the light. Crisp and effervescent. Lingering corn sweetness.
1.3 473ml can into glass. Bought at random Surfers Paradise bottlo. Pale yellow beer with thin white head. Light carbonation. Nose is sweet corn and stale malt. Watery, sweet taste. Lingering sour finish. Like drinking sweet alcoholic water.
1.3 From Jun 2007 This pours in glass a yellow gold with a small head of foam that shrinks quickly leaving a fine layer. The smell is a mix of malt and corn. The taste is semi sweet; there's some malt and grain going on with some hop character that bitters it but the flavours are light on the palate. I haven't tasted this for years and I'm sure I'll not taste it again for many more years to come. Just too damn common and bland.
2.0 I drank it few years ago during Christmass when all was closed but gas stations. Corny, wet cardboard, cloying aftertaste. It was pretty awful.
5.0 Great but not better the Duff's
1.5 355ml can from Systembolaget. Clear pale golden, short lasting white head, good lacing. Sweet aroma, syrupy, Roses Lime and grains. Light and thin, medium carbonated. Sweet grainy taste, sugars and boiled vegetables. Metallic finish.
4.3 It’s not the best beer but it’s my favorite. Truly American, well priced, not full on flavor, yet it’s a beer that fills the soul. I always keep a 30 rack on hand.
3.2 12 oz can. Very pale yellow pour with a large white head and very good retention. Spotty lacing. Corn lager nose and taste. Very light body and sweet flavor. Crisp. Like an even lighter Busch Light. Quenching.
2.1 Aroma: corn, bread Appearance: golden, clear, white foam, mediumhead, Taste: light sweetness, corn Palate: light body, thin feel, lively crbonation,
2.5 Super clear golden yellow, with solid head. Aroma of swilly corn. Reminds me of Genesee..
1.5 Cut and paste all these mass produced beers would have a hard time telling any of them apart
1.5 Can. Pours a clear pale golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy corn aroma. Fruity malty grainy sweetish flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy corn finish.
2.1 DATE: August 21, 2016... OCCASION: saying goodbye to the Olympics, I celebrate 120 medals with an American original... GLASSWARE: Browns pilsner.... crystal clear, tawny yellow body--as light as could be while still considered gold--with large, sparse bubbles jetting upward... white head is filmy, hazy, and clinging unevenly to the glass... fresh bread malts combine with corn to make for a beefy, tangy inhalation... some off-center funk is prevalent... flows as swiftly as water, with only a slight brackishness... refreshing, but flirts with apology as it exits swiftly with a light body.... taste is as expected--corn, honey, malted barley, and water, with water as the predominant factor... a mouth rinser, but having read the the excellent Ambitious Brew, this former Schlitz product is a solid American creation that gave the People what they wanted--a beer that could be slammed at serious rates without residual.... good for what it’s meant to do...
1.9 Originally rated on 9/19/08. Old mil. isnt the worst thing out there but it sure aint the best. Its greatest redeeming quality is price, easy on the old wallet. Bad aroma, so-so flavor middle of the pack swill.
1.1 Backlog. Meh another one of these old school pale lagers. Just nothing going on here. Refreshing I guess....
2.0 Memory rating....drank many times in my youth....we used to use the returnable bottle cases as furniture in college...sad poor times back then...not a terrible beer just a cheaply made beer...lots of grain and malt....
2.4 Actually much better than its more well-known cousin, PBR. The corn flavor is less metallic and solvent-like than most of its ilk. Surprisingly pleasant shit-beer alternative.
4.0 One of my favorite beers. It does the job well. Great tasting, inexpensive and just overall, impressive. I love how the Canadian cans have the cute girls on them as well.
1.3 Bottle at The Bowler in Fargo. Because this is what you do here. Piss yellow color (I’m assuming) and a grainy, slightly metallic aroma. Taste is also grainy and minimal. Basically water with some malty alcohol elements. Not a beer for beer fans but a beer for people who want to drink excessively while playing pool. Finish non-existent. Something your dad would enjoy.
2.1 Bottle. Pabst Blue Ribbon exportversion 4.5 %. From Kvickly Grenå. Frothy white good mostly deminishing head. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavor. Short light bitter finish. Watery palate. not good but not bad either.
0.9 35,5cl bottle@home in lager glass@approx 5 degrees C. Thought I was drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon but was in effect drinking a re-branded Old Milwaukee which is marketed in Scandinavia! Humbug and I urge you to buy neither when the brewers cheat like that. Pours clear light yellow with finger of white head with sufficient retention. Very faint aroma of malt and corn. This is also reflected in the almost nonexistent taste. Very faint malt and hops and no off tastes makes this close to drinking water with alcohol. Refreshing on a hot day I can imagine, but what is the point of drinking virtually tasteless beer like this?
2.1 How in the hell have I gone this long without rating Old Milwaukee? Pours a very pale gold, very clear, with a respectable enough fluffy white head that slowly works it’s way into oblivion. Aroma is surprisingly faint, it’s got some corn, some dough, some tire... cool. The flavor is sweet & corny... there is a little bit of bitey hoppiness there. The alcohol is way too prevalent for a beer with an abv so low. more mediocre than terrible, y’know.
2.5 Picked up a six pack from the rip and run in Carthage, Mo. Right out of the can with strong corn and metal. Light body,
1.3 12 oz. can. Tried this again yesterday for the first time in years. Used to buy this with my brother in law, 15 to 20 cases at a time when it was on sale in the 80’s. Still tastes bad, watered down.
