4.02013 bottle. It pours a thick, jet black color with a thin brown head. The aroma is rich and complex with notes of fudge, molasses and honey up front. Nice dense roasted, smoky malts underneath with hints of almonds and sherry that seem like mild oxidation, but it suits this beer well. The flavor is rich with dense, woody roasted malt. Sweet with honey and molasses, but the intense smoke and roast balance it out a bit. There’s some hints of floral/menthol bitterness in the finish along with more intense roast. The body is insanely thick and goes down slow. This is a sipper for sure, and feels much bigger than 10% although the alcohol isn’t that noticeable, just the flavors and mouthfeel are extremely intense. Some burnt malt in the aftertaste is the only mild turn off. Otherwise, a really intense, complex treat.
4.1Bomber: Chouffe glass:
Small brown head/lacing. Black beer.
Aroma of honey, chocolate, dark roast, coal, some liquorice, tar and raisin...
Flavour is a great mix of honey, roast, chocolate, liquorice, good bitter, hops, coffee, some toffee, light fudge and a hint of molasses...
Aftertaste is roasty, bitter, hoppy, molasses/honey, chocolate...
Low carbo, close to silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied.
3.622oz bottle pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is roast malts dark chocolate coffee and some ashtray notes. Taste is more of the coffee smokey notes and the chocolate. I noticed a little spice even and plenty bitterness.
3.0wish i could get more of the honey out of this, but over a solid albeit a little thin, stout.
3.9Bottle courtesy of Mike, shared with Paul and Dallas. Porus a deep blackish brown body with thin tan lacing. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of rich woody, earthy roast, bitter dark chocolate, dirt, oak and sweet honey. A bit reminiscient of Bell’s Expedition.
3.4Black pour with a thin espresso head that fades quick. Aroma is pretty light with hints of honey. Medium mouth. Taste is full of chocolate and a little honey comb. Roast is prevalent. Bitter finish. Some toffee notes creep in as it warms.
3.6Bottle. Vintage, been in the cellar for a while. Pouts a dark inky brown with very minimal head. Low carbonation. Molasses and dark roast in the nose. Heavy mouthfeel, a bit oily. Sweet molasses upfront that then transitions to dark chocolate, roast, and a touch of leather. A bit sweet but pretty tasty.
4.0It pours inky black with a dark brown head. It’s fairly opaque. It has visible legs when the class is swirled. It has the aroma of espresso, roasted malts, and a slight burnt note. It has some raisin aromas as well. There are hints of honey and some alcohol notes as well It has intense malt flavors featuring roast, chocolate, raisins, a bit of bread, notes of honey, and some coffee. It has a full body that has a very rich texture to it. There is a smooth alcohol warmth without the hot characteristic that many beers at this strength exhibit. The overall carbonation is fairly low. Overall, an intensely rich, malt driven beer with slight dark fruit notes in the background as well as honey. In spite of the ADV, it has a pleasant alcohol warming without being even slightly hot.
3.8Bottle (2013), thanks to jtclockwork. From notes, sampled side-by-side with Event Horizon. Pours like viscous motor oil. Aroma: tons of roast, stale hops. Honey hard to pick out. Taste: alcohol, spice/roast, big lasting coffee roast finish. Quite sweet, but then offset with huge bitter coffee finish. Full body, viscous and oily. Avg carbonation. I very much prefer the event horizon, but this be good too.
4.0Gold wax bottle from Joe. Thanks bud. Pours pitch black with a toe finger brown head, looking super creamy, and with wicked retention. Sweet aroma of honey and roast, molasses and dark fruits, chocolate and smoke. Very dessert-like in the nose. Flavor is massive roast with serious bitterness, char, lots of sweet chocolate and dark fruit and molasses to balance. Big rich body with low to medium carbonation. I bet this would stand up nicely to bourbon barrels. Very nice, somewhat under the radar stout.
3.8Sample at the Beer Heads MeetUp bottle share event in October 2014. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavors of licorice and dark chocolate. Bitter roast finish.
3.9Serving: 750 ml. bottle from Bottle Revolution. It pours black with a dense, dark tan head. Smells like root beer. Roasty flavors with a bit of nuts, grain, ash, and dark chocolate. Full bodied with a medium finish. Pretty good.
3.9(Rating # 9,200) Bottle... Pours dark brown (almost black) with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. The aroma is a marriage of dark chocolate and bourbon - just enough of each. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor is deeply roasted with a good deal of residual sugar, but also just enough hop and black patent malt-infused bitterness to balance out quite nicely. Finishes roasty, nourishing and bittersweet. Drinks like a meal. Very nice.
3.8Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown color with a thin medium brown head. Aroma is light roasted malts, sweet, honey. Flavor is sweet, roasted honey, toast. Medium to heavy creamy body/mouthfeel. Interesting and tasty.

3.9Very good impy stout with lots of roast and the sweetness of the honey balances the flavor nicely. Second best beer OH makes behind Event Horizon.
3.9A great imperial stout by an established local brewery! Pours black with a subtle head and gives off chocolate along with a hint of smokiness! An excellent brew!
