Omer Vander Ghinste Cuvée des Jacobins (Rouge)

Omer Vander Ghinste Cuvée des Jacobins (Rouge)

The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

1.0 Muy agria, olor fuerte y desagradable. No me ha gustado nada
4.1 33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ de Prins, Rhenoy. Clear reddish brown with a thin off-white head. Vinous sour cherry aroma. Sour taste with a dry fruity sour finish. More sour than an average Flanders red but very very interesting and complex. Great beer in one of my favorite beer styles.
3.8 Ampolla Hopt. Agradable sour, làctica i afruitada (cirera) amb bona i agradable acidesa persistent.
3.0 very sour , cherry coke, acquired taste , maybe nice on a hot summer’s day?
3.9 Bottle 33 cl, poured into a tulip glass. Pours a clear dark red with a small creamy white head and an aroma of red fruits, vinegar, cream, wood and peach. The taste is heavily sour with a long dry and acidic finish.
3.9 Brown with a ruby tint when held to the light. Creamy light tan head. Aromas of brown sugar, vanilla, French oak, butter, and mild cherries. A sweet sour attack from the first sip. Mostly fruity sweetness and the a cleansing sourness that leaves you dryness and looking for more. Cherries return late. Simply complex.
4.1 Reddish brown, light foam, apple syrup, red cherries in the nose. Very sour, red cherries, cola a little structure and a full taste. The taste is complex but closed. For people who likes the most sour ales. More sour and harder acidity than Rodenbach or Liefmans Goudenband. More in the direction of Hanssens Geuze.
4.1 33cl bottle from Hopt, France. Pours brown, with fine beige foam. Aroma is clearly lactic, fruity. Body is average, with quite a carbonation and nice astringency. Taste is markedly sour. Final is still intensely sour and astringent.
3.4 Dark reddish cola color pour with good head with little lacing. Aroma hits the nose with the sourness one would expect. Complex mixture of vanilla with the wood undertones of the cask. Definite sourness in the mouth, but the cask tones mellow it out.
3.6 Bottle from the Packie. Pours a brilliantly clear dark amber with ruby at the edges and a tightly bubbled off white head that slowly recedes. Tart cherry and light lemon tartness with hints of balsamic. Sweet bread and light brown sugary maltiness. Decent puckering in the back of the palette. Nice Sour Red.

3.7 330ml bottle. Sour cherry and vanilla aroma. Pours dark brown with a very small light brown head. Sour cherry flavour with some cola and champagne notes. Medium bodied. Long sour finish.
3.6 Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Bottle, 33cL. 5.5%. Gift from Jybi ! Merci encore ?! A sparkling brown mahogany clear beer with a medium off-white foamy head ; medium retention. Wet cardboard notes that became more and more pronounced. Too bad... My exemplary was way before best before date (6/2021)... Nevertheless, also : vinegar, red berries (cherry notes), wood, light caramel. Medium round sweet, medium to sharp acid, dry refreshing. Good body, average thin texture, average good gaseous, messy wet cardboard vinegar round sour lasting finish. Overall, just good ! Very disappointed, there surely must be a great story told behind this wet dusty curtain... I will taste this beer again !
2.2 This one is not sour, it’s SOUR. It’s like drinking vinegar. I’m sure it’s an acquired taste and there’s apparently an audience for it, I don’t mind dour, but this is unbearable for me personally.
Corpo medio/pieno acetico e oleoso, carbonazione bassa. Complessa ma beverina, pulita, equilibrata. Impossibile resistergli! Birra Gegia
3.8 Bottle. A- Cherry, mild cola, slightly dirty. A- Deep dark red color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Cherry, mild vanilla, mild cocoa, mild cola, subtle tartness, subtle funk. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- 5 years old. Not too bad although I think it'd be better fresh. Nice strong dried cherry flavor and aroma. Cola notes strong when it's cold and gradually brings out some funk as it warms.
3.2 Labic. Muy agria. Cerezas.
4.8 Helt fantastisk. Djup, intensiv, tar tag i situationen. Bästa hittills
4.4 Robe acajou.
3.5 Lekker. Beetje zuur.
3.9 15/10/2019. Bottle from Saveur Biere. Pours dark red brown with an off-white head. Aroma of rich fruit cake, sour berries and cherries s, malt vinegar, toffee, wood, biscuit and a big dose of acidic tartness. Light roasted notes develop. Light sweetness, heavy sour, touch of salt. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. The tartness just keeps building.
3.6 this beer is 10/10 tart acidic. it takes some time to adjust to, but it’s tasty, just a little harsh. Online saveaur bier
4.2 AR: Steinobst, Marzipan, Balsamico, Kirsche, Leder, Brett, Holz AP: klares rotbraun/rubinrot TA: sehr sauer, Brett, Zitronensaft,Leder, Steinobst, Kirsche, adstringierend, trocken, Balsamico
4.4 Aroma: tart cherry, balsamic vinegar, oak, farmyard and peach. Appearance: clear mahogany color with a two-finger tan head. Taste: tart cherry, balsamic vinegar, oak, farmyard and peach, medium-high sourness, medium-high sweetness, very little bitterness Palate: medium body, silky texture, medium carbonation, sour and sweet finish, moderate astringency Overall: Featured with characteristic farmyard flavor which makes this beer virtually a hybrid of Flanders red ale and Lambic, it is really complex and special. Excellent and easy-drinking.
