Chocolate Indulgence offers a thick tan head of foam meeting atop a rich deep hued liquid. The aroma immediately speaks of dark chocolate and dark malts. The gentle herbal nose of pearl hops compliments the darker aroma notes, making this beer fully savory to all senses.

3.6Bottle. Brown with a medium brown head. Chocolate amd malt tones. malt, chocolate and some fruit. Medium body with a nice bitter sweet finish.
3.7Bottled on 8/2014. An interesting Belgium stout but not as much chocolate as expected.
4.0Bottled 8/24/12. Poured dark with a thick foamy lacing with a cocoa aroma. Fizzy feel from the Belgium yeast pretty well balanced with a lightly chocolatey sweet finish. Not too sweet and very easy going with little alcohol burn. Great seasonal selection I had to try just finally got to it 2 1/2yrs later. Overall a must try pretty damn good sampling.
3.4Bottle shared at the holiday tasting
Dark brown with a medium sized tan head, some lacing. Aroma of chocolate and berries. Taste of toasted malts, cherries and dark chocolate
Good
3.3Opaque, thick lace.
Medium dull body, straightforward, moderately intense taste, avg length.
Malty, roast grains, not much chocolate.
Ok, not exciting.
3.5On draft poured into a tulip glass..opaque with a fluffy tan head..aroma of coffee,chocolate,roasted nuts..dry,malty taste..just ok.
4.2"just tried a year old 10th anniversary release. I’d like to compare with the 08 release, but i can’t find it. Not quite "indulgant", but came close by the end. It started off pretty underwhelming, but got better as it climbed higher than 55 degrees...so almost every aspect is graded on a scale. aroma 7-9 mouthfeel 7-9, flavor 7-8, overall 8 2012-earns the decadent name a little more."
3.6on tap at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring, MD.
Opaque, near black with a tan head and very good lacing.
Aroma of cola, roasted coffee, mild cocoa, yeast dates and other dark fruit.
Taste of plums, black cherries, chocolate, roasted coffee, dates, Belgian yeasts and roasted malt.
Medium body and medium carbonation.
A nice imperial stout with an interesting complex of dark fruit and mild roastiness coupled with coffee and a surprisingly subtle chocolate.
3.6Julie say it is very belgium no chocolate. She gives a 3.8 secondary to cost.
3.4Poured from a 750ml bottle from 2007. The aroma is light, chocolate, malty, light yeasty notes. The flavor is firm chocolate, caramel, malty, hints of toffee. The yeast character is minimal. Solid beer, lacks complexity for it to be a fantastic beer.
4.1Dark brown with a lively, thick, tan head, some lacing and a cola, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate nose. Malty intro with a mildly-carbonated mouthfeel and a dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, dark cherry, cola, mildly bitter finish.
3.7Pours black. Aroma and taste are chocolate, malts, and is quite a bit lighter than expected.
3.7Aroma: Burnt Chocolate, Mild Coffee
Appearance: Opqaue Hue, Passes Almost No Light, Brown Head Ring, Some Lacing
Taste: Bitter Chocolate, Mild Dark Roasted Malts, Mild Coffee
Mouthfeel: Decent Carbonation, Medium to Full Bodied, Mildly Bitter
4.0Black color , nice beige head. Malt , coffee and chocolate ; chocolate, coffee and malt ). Pleasant roasted bitterness in aftertaste. Very good !
3.4Tap pour. Pitch black with off white head. Decent lacing. Raw coca, light roast and mild dark fruit. Restrained. Flavor builds. Plums and cherries. Stronger chocolate notes. More bitter than sweet at first, but the balance changes as you drink down. Moves into milk chocolate territory, with some molasses. A tad chalky on finish. OK.
3.0Bottle sampled at Muckfest V on 7/11/14. Pours clear brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and slight band-aid. Less band-aidy than the first batch that came out in ’06 or ’07 or whenever. Malty and caramelly flavor with some chocolate before an estery, yeasty finish.
3.4December 18th, 2012 - I like a good chocolate based beer in December. It not only fits with the season and atmosphere (which, near the foothills of Colorado, is mostly cold, but never bitterly so) and the holidays, which fill us to bursting with sweets and sugars like an overindulgent grandmother. For these reasons I plucked the Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence off of my storage shelf to enjoy on a cold and relaxing evening, spending a lot of time before I tasted it enjoying the rich Dubbel-like smell, with the extra lacing of strawberry, cotton candy and raspberry. The theme in the aroma seems to be tart and tangy sweets, and it’s a lovely blend, showing off with fruits that lend themselves well to a coating of chocolate. Which reminds me, I don’t sense much chocolate in the aroma. At last I check the flavor to see if that’s where it’s been hiding, and here there’s a shade of a blend: raspberry chocolate, like the coffee drink, but it’s faint. The body is lighter than expected, with a mixture of sugars and savories that again reminds me of dubbels, and a long aftertaste that exhibits tart fruits. But the chocolate is faded, and sometimes invisible. That doesn’t diminish the enjoyability of the beer, but it’s not what I expected, either.
3.6Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is roasty with some bread in there and just a little bit of chocolate coming through. Taste is slightly sweet without having much chocolate to it, and has the characteristic Belgian yeast to it. OK, but nothing great, and a slight misnomer, in my book.
3.3Bottle from 2007. Dark brown pour, big light brown head. Chocolate cocoa power, roasty, and more chocolate aroma. Chocolate, roasty flavor, oxidized from age.
3.0Bottle thanks to mcbackus. Nose is like a chocolate covered cherry, as an oxidized kinda way. Taste is watery and not much else, kind of light cocoa. Ok.
3.5Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours an almost pitch black color with a one finger of tan colored head. The head has a fantastic level of retention, slowly fading to leave a good level of lacy islands on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a cola aroma with a good showing of molasses and caramel. A dark chocolate aroma is there, but is overall rather light being complemented by some aromas of cream aroma. Some other darker malt smells and a little bit of a dark fruit smell of fig and prune round out the overall smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter dark roasted malt flavor with the sweet being mostly of a dark fruit consisting of plum and fig along with a big chocolate flavor. As the taste advances the fruit flavors fade all while a milk chocolate flavor, with hints of vanilla and cream, take its place. Some molasses flavors also join the tongue as the taste advances to the end, bringing an even higher level of sweetness to the brew. While the sweetness increases, the roastedness increases as well with, more roasted malt and a tiny bit of char coming to the tongue. In the end, with a little bit of earth that comes to the tongue, one is left with a quite sweet and smooth chocolate flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side with a carbonation level that was a bit on the higher side. The body could have likely been a bit thicker with a carbonation level that would be better slightly on the lower side. After the beer sat and the carbonation dwindled some the feel was better, but overall it needed a bit more thickness.
Overall – The taste and look were quite nice –big and dark with a nice chocolate flavor, but the aroma and feel were just OK. Overall a nice beer to try, but not really worth the big bottle price of over $10.
2.6Aroma is light. Oaky. metallic. A little roasty.
Appearance is alright. Looks thin on the pour. Head is coarse. No lacing.
Taste is light... much like a porter. Really no chocolate. Oaky. Boring. Not getting the belgian wine like notes I’ve seen in other belgian style stouts.
Palate is a little coarse.
Overall a super average beer. Drinks like a ho hum porter but at a white whale price. No chocolate note at all. Just a aggressive porter like palate. Definitely pass especially for the price.
4.1Chocolate Indulgence has a dark brown almost black colored murky body that’s very opaque. The head is thick and frothy with rocky peaks and a tan color. The aroma is malty, toasted and has only a very faint hint of cocoa powder. There are dark toasted and roasted malt flavors with hints of bittersweet chocolate dust and some espresso coffee notes as well. There is a modest hop flavor that adds some bitterness to the finish, which also has a slight metallic touch to it. The texture is smooth and a little bit thin on the palate with a good carbonation and a medium body.
4.0Pours a jet black with a foamy off-white head. Has a sweet belgian yeast aroma. Flavor is sweet belgian yeast up front, bu the main body is a bittersweet chocolate and malts. Has a nicely balanced flavor that doesn’t come off as too sweet or too subtle. Very interesting.
4.5An extremely smooth beer, the title tells it all! A very nice chocolate flavor, leaving wanting for more!
4.0A rich, thick foam and black body is nice to look at, but this beer is not decadent. Belgian yeast has a resounding spice aroma. Smooth with prominent cocoa, but not sweet. A good beer and enjoyable to drink. Just not a rich beer.
3.8bomber shared with sievers at club w.. pitch black pour with brown head, aroma is sweet , some light coffe, pretty good shiz!
4.1Dark chocolate color and a slight chocolate aroma. Has a hint of chocolate flavor and a slight fizz to the palate.
3.6Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence :
3.9On tap, pours a black color with a thick tan head that leaves good lacing. Smells of, chocolate, Belgian yeast, coffee and caramel. Tastes of the same things but he chocolate isn’t as prevalent. Mouthfeel is watery but creamy with decent carbonation. Could have used a little more chocolate an my opinion.I liked that they pushed the envelope a bit with the addition of chocolate to a Belgian stout.
