The mischievous gnomes of Belgian farmstead Brasserie d' Achouffe are at it once again. They dropped by brewery ommegang and left behind a present of Chouffe yeast for our brewing team, here in Cooperstown, NY. Combining their yeast in the primary fermentation, along with our recipe, our brewing techniques, and our yeast in the can conditioning - yields a unique, flavorful and aromatic dose of magic.
This delectable blonde ale is a co-creation of two famed farmstead breweries: Brewery Ommegang and Brasserie d’Achouffe. It employs five fine malts, two noble hops, and both of the distinctive Chouffe and Ommegang yeasts. You’ll enjoy the smooth drinkability, fruity aromas and flavors, and warming finish.

4.1gold color; fruity, funky Belgian yeast aroma; bitter up front with a fruity, Belgian yeast background
3.8Golden yellow appearance.. Aroma is slightly funky... old banana and belgian yeasts.. Taste is great.. Belgian yeast, fruit, malt, candied syrup.. complex
3.612floz bottle, no date, $3.25 single, tulip glass. A frothy golden ale with the fresh scent of hay, and has an effervescent full body that is also ever so green and grainy. F airily sweet with a sugary alcohol finish, and the end result is an adequate beer.
3.8A golden beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has generic europian fruitness, spicyness, some perries and coriander, balanced. Taste has fruitness, spicyness of light peppers, hint of banana. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Great balance which is the best part of this beer. Greatness of Chouffe’s yeast can be noticed.
3.0Great strong ale. Had this at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul, seemed appropriate.
3.6Pear banana bread and spice in aroma
Pours a murky blonde color with small white head
Banana bread and yeasty spiciness in flavor
Medium bodied with medium co2, lingering sweetness.
Very enjoyable Belgian blonde. A bit on the sweet side
3.4(bottle)
Aroma:banana,peaches,generic maltiness.
Appearacne:yellow color,bit cloudy,small dense white head.
Taste:sweet, flavour o banana, peppery phenols and malt, dry boozy finish.
Palate:medium body,medium carboantion,
Overall: Well-made blonde, if only abv was lower,
3.9355ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, white head. Spicy yeasty, slightly bready malty, minimally fruity aroma, hints of brine, mustard seed, dried apricot, a touch of peach. Taste is slightly sweet, minimally bready malty, minimally tart fruity, dry hoppy, notes of apricot, hints of peach, spicy, minimally peppery yeasty overtones, a touch of brine; full body, smooth and soft palate, well hidden alcohol.
3.8Bottle from beergium. Light hazy. Orange. Thin white head. Medium bitterness, light sweetness. Dry body. Medium carbonation. Aroma and flavour is hops, orange, spices, honey, alcohol, fruity, fresh leaves.
3.8Bouteille.
W smaku słodkawe, biszkoptowo rodzynkowe z dodatkiem gumy balonowej, kandyzowanej moreli i miodu, z fajnym ziołowo przyprawowym finiszem i lekką chmielową goryczką.
4.3hazy golden to orange colour, medium sized dense white head; aroma of wheat, citrusy and earthy, maybe some peppery notes, some peach and slight banana; taste of bread crust, sourish wet wheat, peach, peppery and honey notes, as well as minimal banana and citruses; excellent Belgian strong ale
3.6Golden color with a bit of haze and white head. Aroma has a nice, floral yeast profile with some candi sugar in the background. Taste starts on the sweet side, slightly sugary, yeasty with earthy farmhouse notes, some dusty hops with medium bitterness on the finish and lingers on the aftertaste. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite atypical for the style. ABV is hidden really well and it has a nice mouthfeel, makes the beer easy drinking.
3.7Bottle at home. Pours golden yellow with small head. Taste is yeasty. White bread dough, white pepper, herbs, wormwood and hints of bitter honey.
4.2Ommegang’s Gnomegang is the kind of refined Belgian Blonde you would expect as the result when the brewing minds at Ommegang and Brasserie d’Achouffe come together. Golden appearance. Nose reveals spicy, citrusy, and champagne-like yeast esters. Belgian candy and spice flavors. Feel is smooth and partially crisp with mild hoppiness. The 9.5% be damned, I could drink this at about any hour of the day.
3.5Bottle from Brewdog. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, earthy notes, yeast, wheat, ripe fruits and grass. Bitter finish with citrus, earthy notes, wheat, yeast and ripe fruits. Very nice blonde ale.
3.3Hazy orange in the glass. Malt, cereal, nuts and barnyard aromas. In the mouth coarse carbonation, alcohol, banana, butterscotch and a cheesy finish. A little funky for me. Hiccups right off the bat.
3.8Bottle from Beergium. Pours semiclear cloudy yellow with white head. Banana, spices, orange, bread, yeast. Mediumfull body, floral taste. Medium sweet, creamy texture and pretty livley carbonation. Pretty nice one, more like a tripel imo.
3.6Draft.
A- Spices, oranges, gum.
A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head.
T- Orange juice, spice.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish.
O- Tasty stuff. Loaded with juicy oranges and a balance of spice. Almost like drinking a mulled orange juice.
4.0Seriously good. I cannot figure out which I like more -- Ommegang’s Hennepin Saison or Gnomegang. Both are delicious. I get medium sweetness from fruit, herbs, some yeast, and a light kick at the end from hops. Like the Saison, a great aroma and easy to drink. Can’t keep my nose out of the glass.
3.9Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Nose of wheat, Belgian yeast, and light spice. Medium gold/amber color, thin head, and sticky slow-dropping lace. Fairly sweet malty initial, candi sugar, mild banana, sweet fruit (apples), and mild back-end bitterness. Very pleasant. Somewhat like Westmalle Tripel. Alcohol is is disguised - does not seem to be 9.5% at all.
4.0Bottle. Spicy Belgian yeast aroma with notes of banana and clove. Pours cloudy golden colored with a thin white head that has decent retention and good lacing. Starts with spicy clove and banana sweetness. Finishes smooth with a good spicy bite from the Belgian yeast. Nice Belgian blonde.
3.4Draft. Hazy yellow body, small white head. The aroma is citrusy, the body is strong and the flavor profile complex with cinnamon, cardamom, citrus and grapefruit.
3.712oz blue label (best by 2018?? the stamp is difficult to read) pours mostly clear sparkling gold with a short but sticky head. Aroma hops manifest as apricot nectar and dried herbs, while yeast is estery in the way of banana and phenolic in the way of salt, granite, minerals. Pale malt resembles toasted cereals and baked crackers. In the mouth it’s medium-full bodied with velvet-soft carbonation, medium sweetness and light bitterness. Pretty fun yeast-driven strong Belgian golden ale here from Ommegang, cleanly fermented and properly bottle-conditioned.
3.3Backlog, Bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with average sized top. Smell is belgian fruit, yeast, grain, and bananas. Flavor is similar with belgian candy sugar, spices, wood, and other misc fruits. body was medium to fuller. Pretty sweet aftertaste.
3.8Taste: Nice crisp, bready, spiced, tangy, banana notes. Complex yeast bread nose. Gold, mostly clear, with a big foamy white head and sticky lace. Medium almost filling body. Nice kick to it, very much a Belgian Tripel then blonde.
3.3No where near as good as other Ommegang offerings. Is an OK beer but not one I would choose if other of their beers are available. No real aroma, appearance is fine, but not really any remarkable taste.
3.412oz bottle. Code dating is faded and indiscernible. Appearance: Golden and mostly clear, with some floating sediment and a frothy white head that dissipated fairly quickly.
Aroma: Fruity esters abound. Pear dominates, with some banana, clove, and apple. Also pick up a touch of alcohol.
Taste: Rich malt sweetness, very fruity with pear most prominent, some banana, low spicing, a light bitterness and a strong, almost solvent like alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, moderately high carbonation. Strong alcohol warming.
Finish: Very dry. Fruity alcohol esters linger well after the swallow.
Overall: Has the typical Belgian Strog Ale characteristics with fruity esters, sweet maltiness, and high carbonation. This differs in that the alcohol comes across a little too strong, with some heat and solvent like character that harms the overall balance of the beer.
3.9Aroma is yeast, light herbs, and some fruit. Taste is caramel malts, yeast, slight fruit. Full mouth feel, dry warming finish. Very drinkable beer 9.5%.
4.012 ounce bottle. Pours a cloudy golden with a one inch white head that lasts. Taste is of yeast, malt, wood, bread, caramel, spice and some fruit. Similar aroma. Has a nice body. Quite enjoyable to drink.
