Fire & Blood is a 6.8% ABV Red ale, brewed with pilsner, Cara-60, Midnight Wheat, flaked rye and spelt. Assertive hopping includes CTZ, Styrian Golding and German Tettnang hops. Spiced with de-seeded Ancho chilies. Fire & Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy, off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt & slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops & rye.

3.4Bomber. Pours a red amber with an off white head and aroma of malt, last, and spices. Taste is malty and yeasty, with caramel, fruits, spices, and earthy notes coming through with slight touch of chilies into the finish.
3.9Pours an amber red color with a nice beige head. Nose is fruity , sweet mixed nicely with hops . Taste is fruity, mildly peppery sweet and mixed with a nice confluence of hops and malt . Finishes on the same tasting notes, with some mild peppery notes into the moderately long ending. Very drinkable ! Quaff Score 7 / 10
3.7Pours a hazy deep amber colour with lots of particles through it. Big beige head, good retention and thick creamy-foamy lacing. Toasted malt aromas with caramel and some dark fruit notes. The taste also starts with the toasted malts, going through some fruitiness and some hops appear in the finish. A pretty nice, higher-end red ale.
3.6Sample during at Daily Growler Powell during the "5th Friday $5 Fest" on 04/29/2016. Hazy dark reddish-mahogany color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of red fruit, spice and hops. Medium body with flavors of fruity hops, chili pepper and smoky malt. The finish is hoppy and fruity with a mild chili aftertaste. Decent overall.
3.2Bottle. Ours a brown tan color with a hinto of citrus and a bready taste, Interesting yeasty aromas with a hint of vanilla. pretty good
3.7Pours a a mellow orange amber color. Aromas of wheat, grapes, some spice. In the flavor there are hints of orange, grapes, with a slight hoppy bitter finish.
3.8(Ommegang Game of Thrones #3 - Fire and Blood) Bottle 650 ml, corked and caged, from Summer Santa, thanks! Served into a big tulip, ABV 6.8%
Mahogany brown red colour on the body, mostly clear, with one finger of off-white head on top, with good density and retention.
Arom aof caramel, lots of red fruits, marmalade, berries, light alcohol after some deep sniffing.
Taste is mildly sweet, with plenty of red fruits, sugars, marmalade, berries, toffee, I can’t taste any peppers though.
Medium body with soft carbonation, a bit sticky on the palate.
Nice one.
3.6On tap. Pours a hazy, chestnut brown with a red hue and a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of dark fruit, caramel malt, bread and rye. Sweet flavour of dark fruit, caramel malt, bread, a hint of roast and a dry, spicy, mildly bitter finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not bad.
3.7Rated on 7-26-2015 (Corked and caged bottle) This beer’s appearance is a huge smooth ivory head that mostly diminished, amber transparent body, very little carbonation observed, floaties, and a good amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma presents rye, fruity, spicy, pepper, and malt. The flavor is spice, rye, chili, rye, dark fruits, and yeast. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. A drinkable beer with a good flavor and it is worth trying.
4.1When I first saw the Valar Morghulis brew, I asked the cashier where I was buying the beer if he’d had it. He told me he had not, but that it was probably the best Game of Thrones beer because it was closest to their regular Dubbel, and that some of the other Game of Thrones beers were "brewed with some crazy stuff." This one is like that in that it incorporated Ancho Chiles, and they can be tasted just as you swallow, and they’re there just enough to take a point off. The rest of the experience is great; strong but not too strong, rich in color, and smells great.
3.3Pours a very dark, deep golden amber color with mahogany edges and a massive off-white foam head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Possibly over carbonated with visible bubbles rising up rapidly. Sporadic spotty lacing left behind.
Sweet, slightly spicy malt aroma with hints of bread, biscuit, caramel and toffee followed by subtle vinous fruit, ground peppers and spicy rye. Subtle earthy pine needle with grass, straw and oily resins. Peppers stand out as it warns along with the toffee, caramel and biscuit. Some rose water and flower petal along with dark berry sweetness. Smells pretty interesting.
Medium body with a strong peppery spice presence up front that lingers over the sweeter notes and earthy hop bitterness into a lingering dry finish. Lots of crushed chili pepper(but not overly hot/spicy) and spicy rye character giving this beer some uniqueness but it somewhat overpowers the other elements of the style. Muted sweetness but it comes to the forefront as it warms. Some dark berries and candy apple flavor along with caramel and toffee. Yeast character with bread and biscuit before hops come on strong toward the back of the palate. Dry piney bitterness with earthy resins and a touch of citrus sweetness. Oily, dry and bitter complimenting the rye/peppers and balancing the sweetner notes. Nothing to extraordinary but it’s an interesting take on the style. I’m a fan of the strong rye and pepper notes but they tend to overshadow the other flavors.
3.5Rating #1146 - Bottle bought at Sherbrooke because of Dragons. This was a deep coppery brown coloured pour with a mild tan foam that faded to a ring. Nose was teddy graham cookies, chocolate, vanilla. Mild alcohol warmth and carbonation (well disguised at 6.8%) Taste is roasty, mild heat from ancho chilies. mild peppery smokiness from the rye grain, mild toffee and caramel malt sweetness. Something has de-"throned" the balance.
3.7Poured clear copper color with a 2-finger bone-colored head. Aroma of smoky chili pepper and spice, maybe some caramel underneath. Body is medium and well-balanced, with a soft finish. Flavor of nutty malt and spice, giving way to a smoky, fruity note from the ancho. A touch of heat at the back. Mild notes of bitter hops and grass appear as it warms.
3.8Bottle, picked up somewhere in the US. Deep reddish colour, white foam. Soft mouthfeel, spicy, I guess rye. Maybe chillies although I didn’t get any heat. Big Belgian yeast. Balanced hopping. Quite restrained and yet nice.
3.5This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of all foam finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent cola brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The balanced aroma was brown malt and musty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The nice flavor contained notes of toffee sweet mild hops and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
3.0I think this was the most underwhelming of the series so far. The recipe just kinda missed for me. It was easy to drink, but didn’t really have any depth of complexity.
2.8Pours plum color with large cream head. Dark fruit and some malt in nose. More hoppy and bitter than I expected.
3.4Dark red color with a large head. Aroma of wheat and light red pepper. Yeasty flavor. Light sweet malt and raisin flavor. The pepper has almost completely faded out. Medium body.
4.2Scrumptious little gem with the Ancho chili’s. Delicious and yeasty, good setiment. Overall a great beer for the price!
3.2Bottle from Petaluma Market, CA. Aromas of red fruit, funky yeast. Taste is red berries, some herbal resinous, and a slightly spicy finish. Definitely tastes 6.8%. Drinkable, but subtle for its strength.
2.8On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours an opaque dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of spices, earthy bready malt, and light red fruits. Flavour is unusual, with notes of spices, earthy, bubblegum, and an astringent hippiness on the finish. Not sure the flavours are in harmony here. There’s a weird spicy herbal quality to this. Not convincing, but certainly not bad.
3.5Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark amber color, hazy, with compact head. This red ale has a lean and clean caramel profile, rather dry, it could as well be a Bock; the bitterness is moderate; there could be a light smoke touch in the aroma. It has a not of sweetness in the final, a spicy touch, and mild fruity esters.
Balanced, elegant, well made although not the most complex beer.
3.3Draught. Reddish murky brown with creamy off-white head, light caramel aroma, low carbonation, caramel taste, longish finish. Very nicely packaged brew.
3.6750 ml bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a darker red with a creamy head of foam. The aroma has dark fruits, raisins, a bit of leather, and then there are some floral hoppy notes. Taste is sweet mostly, but dries out nicely. Medium carbonation and big body. Not bad.
3.0Had a bottle last Sunday with GOT on HBO. Pours an amber with a solid two finger head in a snifter. Aroma is prunes, raisins, some Belgian yeasts, and some dankness. The taste was mediocre at best with some light prunes, raisins, an acidic aftertaste, and Belgian yeasts. I think my bottle may have been somewhat infected. Had to end up dumping the second half of the bottle. Very rare for me. Heavy carb, light body.
3.5Bottle from craft. Nice notes of raisin, spice, rye, caramel and hop.
Nice sweet and spiced flavor...a bit warming.
3.2Draught. Pours a somewhat hazy dark brown color with a moderately large tan head on there. Nose is toasty with a bit of rye and Belgian yeast to it. Taste is toasty and a little crisp. Not bad, and like the rye notes.
3.6Bottle together with the season premiere. Murky deep red liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, raw sugar, light chocolate, biscuit, floral hops and earth. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of dried fruit, light chili, raw sugar, toffee and earth. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty decent.
4.4Appearance does have a persistent creamy head, lace, and a clear orange amber color. Aroma is malt, spice, yeast , wine, caramel. Flavor’s like nose, fairly dry, carbonic tang up front, lots of spice in back. Great body; i think the warmth is coming from the chilies. Very good finish too.
