Ommegang Game of Thrones - Iron Throne Ale

Ommegang Game of Thrones - Iron Throne Ale

Collaboration with HBO for the Game of Thrones series.

Blonde ale with malty sweetness and a touch of fruity spiciness, Noble Hops aromas and notes of citrus. Suitable to serve to kings, or pretenders to the iron throne.

Pour slowly so as to not disturb the yeast sediment, but with enough vigor to create a luxurious head and release the rich bouquet.

3.3 Backlog, Bottle from Cooks, Pours a hazy blonde gold shade with an average to larger sized top and nice lacing on the glass. Smell and flavor are green pepper, grain, lemon zest, dark fruit, and strong spices. Was a bit too much and unbalanced with the spicing. Some banana and pear as it warms. Medium bodied. Not my favorite but its not awful either
3.4 Golden with a white head - Malt with spicy yeasty aroma - Malt body with spicy yeasty flavours - The spicy yeast goes into the finish - This was nice
3.9 Poured from bottle. Aroma of malt, lemon, spice. Good lookin dark gold with foamy white head. Tasting dry malt, yeast, citrus, spices and herbs. A nice, pleasant beer for a summer day.
3.2 (Bottle) Clear, bubbling orange body with a stiff, foamy, medium white head. Aroma of banana, spices, white bread. Light bodied. Flavor has yeast, light lemon, lightly spiced. Mild sweetness. Finishes light.
4.2 DATE: OCCASION: binging on Game of Thrones the last few nights, it’s time for Naked and Afraid XL--and this beer... GLASSWARE: Chimay 150th chalice... thick, hazy orange amber body... a central eruption of bubbles says something is alive and at work here... the head is a thing of beauty--white-as-Ghost’s fur, thick as Tormund’s beard, and clinging as the Prince of the Eyre... citric orange and pineapple play with cracker malts... apple and pear suggest a crisp spiciness and a natural sweetness... the palate is the epitome of drinkability, with a frothy head greeting each sip and a lingering sweetness at each finish... a striking balance between dryness and liveliness... as to the flavor, besides the aforementioned aromas, slight nuttiness and vanilla, with a winelike sweetness--such a complex contrast, and yet, so drinkable... as biased as I am--towards the brewery and the novels/shows--there’s no empirical data denying this beer’s quality, and although it is a one-off, I will not deny seeking this our again if I have the chance...
4.4 B+. Pours a hazy yellow color with pillowy white head. Wait till it warms up to 55
2.6 Large format - Very cloudy orange color. Sweet smell. Belgium style sweetness with little bitterness. Strong floral notes on the palate.
4.1 Bomber into a tulip. Pours a hazy light yellow, with a large white head. Nose is Belgian yeast-bananas, cloves, and citrus. Taste follows, with bread and fruit notes dominating. Well-balanced.
3.5 Associated, Brooklyn bottle: pours slighty hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is yeasty, with fruity notes. Taste is lightly hopped, kind of sweet, and rather yeasty. Easy to drink Belgian style ale with good character.
3.1 Blonde bodied with a luscious creamy off-white head. Toasty, slightly burn grain and spicy peppery bouquet. Bready and yeasty body with a prominent white-peppercorn flavor. Rather thin and uncomplex. Ok.
3.7 Sample during at Daily Growler Powell during the "5th Friday $5 Fest" on 04/29/2016. Hazy orange-amber color with a medium thick ivory white head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of fruity yeast, malt and herbal hops. The finish is herbal and citrusy with a yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.
3.5 750ml bottle 6.5% ABV RBC Plaza LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) July 23, 2013 Beer pours a hazed dark gold with orange hues and a huge white long lasting head. Aroma is yeast, spices, grains and citrus. Mouthfeel is weak to meadium bodied with average carbonation. Was hoping for something less thin. The flavour is yeast, citrus, and the spices really come through as an herbal addition to the grains.
3.7 Flaska från Whole food markets nyc. Ljust gul med luftigt vitt skum. Lätt fruktig doft med lite belgokänsla. Lite mycket beska men annars trevlig.
3.3 Drinking this with less than an hour until season 6 premier. Golden color with big fluffy white head. Aroma and taste both aweet malts and yeasty with mild citrus in flavor. Body is thin and slightly watery. Slightly dry finish.

3.7 3/13 - Golden color with a tall fluff white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from my Duvel glass. Sweet malts and light fruit in the aroma, along with a light herbal hops component. Light and fairly zippy on the palate. Light sweet start, with hints of apricots and pale malts. Some raisins and floral to herbal hops join in the middle. Fruity most the way through. Needs a little more malt flavor to carry this one home for me.
3.4 Good Belgian ale. Aroma was ok. Stale hops, light malt and hints of Belgian yeast. Pour was a beautiful hazy light gold with a puffy one finger chunky white head. Taste was stronger than the aroma. Light sweet malt with some floral notes. Nicely hopped with grass, hay and yeast in the finish. Dry and bitter after the swallow. Perfectly balanced with nice strong carbonation.
4.1 Bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of tropical fruit and light pepper. Nearly clear light/medium amber color, generous white head that drops to a full cover, walls of lace. Taste is caramel malt that adds medium fizz on the swallow, immediately followed by tropical fruit and banana. As it swings smoothly into the finish pure bittering shows, growing the rest of the way to a very long end in which the bitter is all that is left. An exceptional Belgian Ale.
4.0 The aroma is fresh citrus, some malt and some hop. Pours a cloudy yellow/orange with a big frothy white head, mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is kinda a sour/bitter. The body is medium/light, the texture creamy but a little thin, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Very Good.
3.4 750ml->Trappist. Cloudy gold with frothy offwhite head. A: yeast, herbs, flora. T: flora over herbs and yeast. Decent enough.

3.9 Pours a golden color with a white head. Yeast, pear, apple, peach, spice and biscuit aroma. Yeast, funk, clove, apple, pear, orange, mango and biscuit flavors. Medium body and lively carbonation. Fruit and yeast finish.
3.6 Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a murky peach color with an enormous foamy yellow-white head that lingered forever and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was yeasty, spicy and sweetish with notes of honey, perfume and an herbal note. The flavor was tangy, sweetish and mildly bitter with a yeasty presence, golden fruit, phenol and perfume. Long finish. Medium body. Solid.
3.9 Bottle@ trailer park tasting. Hazy amber color with lasting ivory foam. Grainy wheat, citrus, malty, dry grass, spicy herbal aromas. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Dry hay, dry spice, herbal, citrus, belgian yeast flavors with dusty maltage---very tasty
3.5 bomber - nose is herbal, caramel, grass, body odor, the Ommegang funk, and wildflowers. reminds me of a Belgian Tripel by the nose. Sip emphasizes the floral aspect. Better than I expected.
4.7 Pours hazy orange with a large white head. Smells peppery and fruity. Taste is malty sweet with peppery notes and subtle citrus. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and lively mouth-carbonation, Ommegang Game of Thrones #1 - Iron Throne Ale finishes with a soft citrus twinge.
3.9 Golden color with a decent white head and fruity aroma. Taste is very fruity with a hint of spice at the end. Normally a brew like this is too light for me but I must say I really liked it and think it night be the best of this series.
3.8 Tap at Busters. Nice beer. Very slightly hazy golden pour with a smaller clingy white head. Fruity esters, some citrus bite, green banana, soft palate with a bit of carbonation bite. Yum.
3.7 Lannister gold in the glass. Body is spice and mystery from Ashai. The Maesters toiled long in their workshops to bring the ingredients to life. Even the uptight folks in the Vale of Arryn would agree that this is the elixir of the kingdom. Would go well with a bowl of brown.
