Ommegang Game of Thrones - Three-Eyed Raven

Ommegang Game of Thrones - Three-Eyed Raven

Three-Eyed Raven harbors a deep dark brown, almost jet-black color with a light tan head. Yeast forward aromas are packed with peppery phenolics and fruity esters. Despite what you might expect from a dark hued beer, the flavor brings to mind a traditional saison: a light, malty body with a hint of sweetness, and roast accentuated by herbal and spicy hops, yet underpinned by pleasant yeastiness. Finish is crisp, with lingering notes of herbal hops and Belgian yeast.

Malt: Our carefully crafted mixture of specialty malts.

Sugar: Dark Candi

Hops: Hallertau Spalt Select, Tettenang and Bravo

Spices: None

ABV: 7.2%

Available on draft and in 750ml bottles.

Pair with roasted chicken and pork, barbeque and other spicy dishes, grilled vegetables, goat cheese and smoked gouda.

Medium sweet flavour with nice enveloping yeast character, phenol, more toffee, light caramel, toasty and bready malts, figs. Medium bodied with creany carbonation. Finishes with some dark fruits, berries, toasted toffee. Solid.
3.5 Pours dark smber to dark brown with huge fluffy tan head that sticks for long time. The aroma is fruity, malt, grapes. The flavor is spicy, sweet, figes, grape juice, tart. The palate is medium and leaves no lingering flavor. Overall very well balances would recommend
3.4 Tasting at Matt’s Black color, with generous tan head. Nice aroma, dark malts and Saison. Smooth and well carbonated mouthfeel, dark malts, light spicy yeast presence, coriander. Nice.
3.6 750ml bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $9.99 Very good.
3.5 Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an enormous fluffy beige head that lingered forever and left excellent lacing. The aroma was cherry cola, wheat, rye and bread. The flavor was sweet cherry, wheat, rye, an herbal presence. Turns dry and a bit astringent on the long herbal finish. Medium body. Solid.
3.6 [8042-20160128] 1pt9.4floz bottle. Mild roasted grains aroma. Dark mahogany brown body with a long-lasting creamy mocha head. Roasted grainy flavour. Medium-full body. Good. (7/3/7/4/15) 3.6 (w/ blankboy, GregClow, HogTownHarry, jercraigs)
3.6 2016-01-28. Black body with a nice creamy tan head. 3+ Aroma is modest, sweet lightly caramel notes, light yeast. 7+ Flavour is similar, lightly sweet yeasty character, caramel touches, yeasty esters. Average bodied palate, soft effervescent carbonation. Decent. 7/4/7/3-4/14 Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto.
3.1 Solid dark flavor with rich malts, candied sugar and mild spice. Not hoppy but has the character for many ideal fancy beer
3.9 Purchased because Game of Thrones...need I say more. The beer pours a deep black with off white head. Notes of fruit and spice. An interesting herbal flavour with a bit of fruit and spice again. It is almost sweet but not quite.
4.4 750ml bottle 7.2% ABV Atrium on Bay LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) September 12, 2015 The beer pours semi-translucent black with brown edges and a thick foamy light brown coloured head which recedes to a half inch rocky layer. The aroma is yeast, caramel, spices, and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is medium full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dark malt, some peppery spiciness, some caramel, and yeast. Ommegang knows beer (or at least Duvel Moortgaat does).
3.8 Black in color with a light tan head. Fruity aromas, dark fruits, roasted malts. Flavors are the same with the addition of pepper and a slight tartness.
3.8 Flaska från Whole food markets nyc. Mörkt brunröd med tjockt beige skum. Lätt i doften med karamell och knäck. Lätt i smaken med lite röda bär och karamell.
3.5 Dark clean pour with two fingers of solid beige head. Nice aroma, soft chocolate and earthy malt. Herbal hop notes and some spicy yeast. Tastes kinda like a dry stout. Sort of papery malt note with some toasted bread. Medium light body.
3.9 0,75l bottle from Susan’s Fine Wine & Spirits, shared with wiosna and Misa for the S6 premiere. Pours very dark brown with a high off-white head. Aroma is sweet slightly roasted malts and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate and bitter hops. Good stuff.
3.6 Aged a year and opened for season 6 premiere. Pours thicker and dark unclear brownish black with a huge beige head. Aroma is light sweet almost mocha and some biscuit and a bit bready. Flavor of light sweet malts, a bit of cola and some spice notes and a hitter ending.
3.6 Belgian flavors with nice spicy and stickiness. Dark malts tend to soften flavors and take candy feel away.
3.7 Deep dark reddish mahogany, light tan head. Spicy estery, light banana, coriander, slight roasted grain notes. Some bitterness, plenty of sweetness. Well balanced, medium body, medium carbonation. Longer finish. Decent hint of alcohol. Good.
3.7 Black, with a big tan head. Smells like coffee, cherry, and chocolate. Taste is more complicated than the aroma suggests - I get coffee and oak, a touch of vanilla, burnt toast and raisin and prune. Pretty good stuff.
3.6 Pours black with a off white pillow. Aroma is faint, light malt with some light hopping and yeast. Taste is light grains and yeast. Slightly herbal and grassy. Straight up well made beer.
3.6 Dark body, off white head, some lacing. Rich dried fruit and a touch of hops in the aroma. Also yeasty. Taste is semi-sweet, vinous, with a dry slightly bitter finish. Dark and interesting saison. Not bad.
3.4 Bottle shared with northropfrye. I feel like I get like hay in the aroma. What a frothy head. Super dark body, pretty beautiful. Lightly sweet, and a little watery at the end. Pretty fizzy carbonation, with a slightly bitter finish.
3.7 From a bottle. Pours dark nut brown with a frothy tan head and lots of lacing. Tastes like some dried dark fruits, raisin, nutty and chocolate malt, very smooth and easy drinking. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like dried fruits, nutty and chocolate malt, and toffee.
3.5 Bottle. Pours slightly murky brown. Aroma is caramel, toasted and biscuit malt, light floral and grassy notes, and light chocolate. Flavor is dry and chocolaty with some nice toasted flavors faint sweetness and crisp earthy bitterness. Medium body.
3.7 Large tan head dark pour mild to medium carbonation aromas rich cereal spice grass or herbal rich hops malt the flavours resin cocoa dark cereal taste herbal spice crisp fruits some stone fruit conserve as well a bitter taste growing body easy to drink balance apples pears the finish a Saison full of hop goodness plenty of herbal notes to back it sweetness bitter taste overall very nice
4.0 Bottle; pours nearly black with a tan head; aroma yeast, sugar, spice, dark fruits, and some herbal notes; taste is sweeter than I expected (but not in a bad way) with dark fruits, yeast, sugar, and a hint of caramel; finish is dry and spicy; nice beer
3.6 Very cool artwork on this bottle! Medium dark brown body with a voluminously foamy light tan head. Light chocolate in the aroma with a salty air component. Light molasses and milk chocolate flavors with a bit of fudge, but this is not a dessert beer. The body is light and very drinkable with a definite earthy bitterness and herbaceousness in the background. A nice yeastiness billows up in the back and ties this all together nicely. Finishes both bitter and sweet with a lasting chocolate taste on the tongue.
3.6 bottle - Pours very dark brown and has a yeasty, caramel malt aroma. It’s sweet with dark fruit and caramel flavors coming through. The Belgian yeast flavors of a saison come through as well. To me it tastes more like a Belgian strong dark ale than a saison, but it’s good either way.
3.8 Bottle: Poured a dark color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted notes with some rustic malt and light herbal notes with some yeasty notes. Taste is a complex mix of solid rustic malt notes with some herbal notes with some strong yeasty notes and light spices notes. Body is pretty full for style with good carbonation. Interesting beer that does not really falls into one specific categories.
3.3 Dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is a bit fruity (appley), with some vague raisiny notes. Fruity, slightly tart, with some vague dark malt character. I’m not a great dark saison,
