Ommegang Seduction

Ommegang Seduction

A BELGIAN LOVE AFFAIR
Ommegang Seduction is lovingly brewed with six dark malts. Chocolatier Callebut provides the chocolate, while Liefmans brings the cherries. This international romance is consumated with a full body, alluring aromas and flavors of Belgian chocolate, and tart
cherries. Seduction is an ale to be lovingly embraced.

Beautiful, rich and smooth, roasty and malty throughout, Seduction offers balanced chocolate-cherry notes, a bit of caramel sweetness, and a long, slow finish. Seduction is welcoming and warm-hearted, gently hopped and harbors no bitterness, leaving only a lingering glow. [I’m moving this to porter because no other Top 50 Belgian Ale is dark. They are all blonde or amber. This one is a Belgian porter and doesn’t resemble the other top Belgian Ales. -GT2]

3.6 "this had the potential to be great, ended up just good. i dug the cherry aspect to the aroma and flavor, slightly tart, slightly sweet. the chocolate was underdone, possibly due to the fact that the belgian yeast was a little too overagressive. kinda thin palate. good flavor and aroma, coulda been great if it was a touch less overwhelmingly belgian"
3.8 This one is a strong contender in its class of chocolate ales. It is smooth and easy on the palate. Very nice.
3.8 Dark brown color , with big , beige head. Aroma of caramel malt and chocolate . Sweet Chocolate in taste blended with moderate bitterness of roasted malt.
3.2 Bottle at 28 Springs. Pours a dark brown with a rich creamy head. Aroma is prunes chocolate and some malt. Flavor flows with lots of chocolate and is slightly tart. Cherries. Light bodied. Dry clean finish. Nice beer.
3.7 Bottle. Dark dark amber. Aroma and taste have a dark plum and raisin thing going on. Malty finish. Light but semi-rich too. Good stuff
3.6 Bottle. Dark cola with an off white head. Aroma is chocolate and apple juice. Kinda weird. Taste adds some marshmallow, caramel and burnt sugar. Medium sticky mouthfeel and light carb. Nice.

4.0 Seduction Black brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is medium chocolate and light sour cherries. Flavor is smooth sweet chocolate and light sour cherry. Medium full bodied with good carbonation. Nice blend of fruitiness and chocolate. A light bitter creeps in after the sweet on the end.
3.9 Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle, bottled on December 5, 2011, corked and capped poured into a tulip. Pours dark brown with big light brown head. Aroma is chocolate/roast, medium body, medium carbonation, and good big bubble lacing. Taste is chocolate, some fruit (mostly cherries), and long roasty slightly herbal hop finish. This is a good porter and holds up well.
4.2 From a 750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown, like a cola, with a thick, beige head. Aromas of Belgian yeast, chocolate and caramel. Flavors are milk chocolate, vanilla, with plum, raisin and licorice. Cocoa in the finish. Slight hop bite. Creamy mouthfeel, but not heavy or sticky. Malty and delicious. This is a really, really nice brew.
2.8 After Chocolate Indulgence was so bad my hopes are.... meh. Let’s do this thing. Smells like... acidic wine. Maybe like acidic coffee? Acidic chocolate? Appearance is a bit like a brown ale. Dark brown. Head is more fine that chocolate indulgence. Taste is better than CI. A bit of chocolate in there. Dry chocolate. A bit more like a porter in it’s metalic note. Palate is medium body but very agressive with the carbonation. Again not an amazing beer but better than chocolate indulgence. Maybe more stout than CI. Don’t pay $15 for this. Don’t!!!!!!
3.7 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, sweet chocolate, dry and roasty, soft toffee.
3.8 Aroma is deep sweet malts, apple, raisins, caramel and plum. Taste is similar with a roasty maltiness, caramel and some hints of Belgian sugar candy and finishes with a slightly warm liquor snap. The malt body carries through nicely. Appearance is a very dark amber with a head with bubbly light brown head thst retains well.
3.4 From BA review from 2-11-12 - Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice Appearance – A deep brown color with a very light just off white head. The head fades leaving a thin film on the surface of the beer and a very small amount of lacing. Smell – A nice bitter chocolate aroma is initially present. These mix with a sweet cherry aroma which lightens the bitter chocolate giving a sweeter chocolate aroma. Taste – Sweet chocolate flavor hits the tongue initially. The sweet chocolate mingles with dark fruit flavors in the middle of the taste. The fruit is largely cherry, but some raisin and prune are in there as well. The flavors blend, but not in the best way, bringing an almost artificial cherry flavor of a cherry cordial. The sweetness seems to start to fade toward the end however, turning more bitter and leaving a slightly bitter chocolate flavor which is more agreeable with the tongue then the sweet cherry chocolate flavor. Mouthfeel – Rather thick for the strength of the brew. It has good body and carbonation which makes it quite easy drinking and enjoyable. Overall – A rather nice brew, but there are better of its class and for its price (bottle or draft) there are better choices out there.
3.9 Enjoyed on 5/6/14, pours a dark brown with 2 finger tan head. Smells like toffee, chocolate, and a bit of cherry. The taste is chocolate upfront with a sweet cherry back note. Thick texture. I liked it, it's basically a liquid version of chocolate covered cherries
3.2 Rated on 02-11-2012 (Corked and caged bottle) When poured, this beer has a large smooth tan head with a long retention, mostly opaque dark brown body, suspended carbonation, and one ring of lacing. This beer’s aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, chocolate, sweet, and tart cherries. The flavor is sweet, rich, roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and thin. This beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is more of a dessert type beer and would pair nicely with chocolate cake. This beer is worth trying as it has a different take for the style.
3.7 Nice beligan brew, thank you GT2, drank at beer tasting, sweet, golden, nice head
3.4 > Dark cherry, olive, cinnamon bread Belgian porter [ Bottle ][ Pizza Port Bottle Shop ][ 750mL ][ $13 ][ Woodshop Snifter ][ 3/22/14 ] >> Listed as a Belgian Porter on the label, not sure why this is in Belgian Ale. Pours clear, deep red with excellent tan foam. Fizzier retention. Nose is kalamata olive, cinnamon bread, dark cherry, olive loaf. Taste is rich cinnamon bread, olive, dark cherry, mild cocoa, kalamata olive juice. Strange beer, it sort of works. Definitely drinkable. >!< too much olive, not in the right category

3.7 Note: This is 1 of 6 for @coopwinespirits December Beer Discovery Bag. No re-rate necessary. Rating #770 - Nov 16, 2013 - 2 oz sample from @scottyhorizonbeers at Coop in #yeg. Pours a bubbly brown with a weak white cap, little retention. Aroma is rich chocolate, mild floral fruity yeast esters. Palate is rich chocolate malty sweetness, mild cherry, mild roasty bitterness. A phenomenal dessert beer.
4.5 From 750ml bottle. Dark brown with tan head. Aroma of cherries with hint of cocoa and yeast. Tastes of cherry, dark fruits, yeast, and chocolate with a strong dry cocoa finish. Best "chocolate" beer ive had.
4.0 Listed as a Belgian Porter (vs. generic ale). Bottle for "Friendsgiving" event. Mahogany (spelled that one correctly right off the bat for the first time!) with swirls of sediment. Fine, thick tan head that reduces moderate-fast to a film. Aroma is of chocolate, lakewater, deep wet vegetation and rich earth, slight burnt bark. Flavor is amazing, bready (raisin bread?), light generic fruit (pear and apple), some bread crust (not overly roasted though), yeast, light blended spice. Light body on the watery side with a distinct moderate prickliness.
