Witte is our version of the classic Belgian wit or "white" ale. Witte, which is actually Flemish for white, is brewed with malted and unmalted wheat, orange peel, and coriander - offering a refreshing style that showcases the Belgian talent for brewing full-flavored ales that are also light and balanced. It is pale straw in color, slightly hazy from the yeast, and topped with a huge white, fluffy head.

3.2Pours a clear straw yellow with a white head. Aroma of wheat, grass, and light spices. Fairly smooth with a bready taste and some lemongrass notes. The spices aren't too bold and make this fairly refreshing and easy to drink. Ok but not great.
3.5Bottle. Light hazy straw. Thin white head. Body is medium. Carbonation is medium to high. Aroma and flavour is herby, yeast, citrus, orange.
3.2On tap at the rooftop bar Arlo NoMad, NYC. Cloudy golden beer with a large white head. Nose is lemon peel, clove, floral, sweet, slight banana. Taste is clove lemon, creamy, banana, tangy, french bread.
3.1Clear, pale yellow pour with thick fine white foam. Sweet cereal nose with touches of citrus and coriander and pepper. The taste is a little watery at first and the spices take some time to emerge. A good lemony tartness provides the background but succumbs to the malt, eventually. The taste is classic with a sour malt finish. I was hoping for something a little more on the edge from Ommegang.
3.9On tap at brunch today with Erica (Mussels n Sausages) and many times before. Always solid. Looks very nice - ultrapale yellow almost whitr. Nose yeasty and salty. Palate light yeast, light hop, salty/coriander flavor with some candy. Extremely refreshing crisp mouthfeel which when very cold and fresh is even better due to moderate carbonation.
2.60,355l bottle from Beergium. A bit hazy, light yellow beer with medium white head. Aroma has banana, wheat and sweet malts. Taste has some hints of citrus, wheat. Not much else. Medium body, high carbonation. Nice to drink on a hot summer day in terrace, but nothing else.
2.3Got one bottle, thinking it was something new since it is labelled ’White Wheat Ale" instead of Witte... but I guess not. It’s at 5.2% and conforms to the usual descriptions, such as ’Very citrus forward with a little spice on the aftertaste. Earthy tones prevail along with a slightly dish soap reminiscent lemony tint and tartness. Light bodied and refreshing on a warm afternoon.’
Yeah, soapy, boring, not that great and the spice, coriander or clove, is not one I care for in an ale. One and done.
3.6Hazy bright yellow color with rocky white head. Aroma has wheat, banana and vanilla sweetness, really nice. Taste is not really sweet but has some banana flavor. Also some sourdough, a little astringent and bitter. Light body, medium carbonation but feels quite smooth. Overall it’s a pretty good witbier but the flavor doesn’t match the aroma.
2.8Taste: Big wheat, salted biscuit, lemon with a bit of a toothy mouthfeel, airy finish. Citrus and wheat biscuit nose. Bright Gold, mostly clear, white very carbonated head with some lace. Medium body.
3.8Aroma is wheat, metallic, spice, citrus, dry, clove, yeast. Appearance is honest, mostly clear, white head. Taste is citrus, wheat, yeast, spice, good. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, bubbly, citrus and wheat aftertaste. Overall, solid Wit.
3.4Tasting at brewery. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a medium frothy white head. Aroma is clove, coriander, wheat, and vague orange. Taste is wheat, clove, coriander, banana, and lemon. Dry finish. Light body. Lively carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel. Feels very close to a hefeweizen.
3.5Light lemony, citrus and sour scents. Pours a cloudy gold with a bright white with fine pinpoint bubbles. Flavor is very fresh and light lemon. Big carbonation and good lacing. A solid Witbier.
3.7Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is hazy pale yellow with greenish tinge, 1 1/2-finger width frothy white head with fair retention, decent sparkle, decent lcaing. Aroma is surprising smokiness, wheat. Taste is tart, citrusy wheat, different from aroma. Palate is medium bodied with foamy texture, lively carbonation and lightly tart finish. Overall, representative of the style without a lot of complexity.
3.5Clear yellow good bubbles. Strong lemon and coriander smell. Classic wit, great example of style. Crisp even flavor with zest.
4.3This beer has instructions printed on the label of the bottle explaining how to pour it for intended experience. If you dump it into your glass you get a different beverage than if you slowly & carefully transfer it w/o disturbing the yeast on the bottom. Poured correctly, its a crystal clear very pale wheat beer with small head - Dumping produces cloudy beer w/ exploding foam that threatens to escape said glass. Fine witbier!
3.0Flavor was heavy on lemon and wheat flavors. Drinkable but not what i was looking for in a summer beer. Wanted a more refreshing experience.
3.4Pours a cloudy golden yellow with big fizzy head. Aromas of citrus, grass, and some coriander. Flavors of light coriander and some astringent lemon. Best witbier I’ve had in awhile.
3.5Bottled. Hazy yellow body, huge white head, very lively. The aroma is sweet, fruity, and the taste is also sweet with some vanilla.
3.812 oz bottle - spring night beside a fire - poured golden - thick head - smells of sweet orange - light fresh taste hints of lemon - great summer drink.
3.4Bright golden pour with a fluffy head. Aroma of straw, some citrus but not much. It’s clean, fruity, yeast at the finish.
3.0Drank from a pint glass, poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours a beautiufl golden color, with plenty of white frothy head. Nice aromas of wheat, slight lemongrass notes. Nice smooth taste, wish Ommegang, did a little bit more with this but a solid Wit!
3.7On tap. Hazy golden color with a small white head. Somewhat spicy aroma. Flavor is a bit tart with orange peel and spices. Light bodied. Good example of the style.
3.2Very good and tasteful wheat beer. Not much aroma but the taste win the points
3.9It is a cloudy yellow with white head that produces Belgian lace. The aromas contain fruity esters, lemon, vanilla, close, spices, and a peppery note to it. There are flavors of fruit, lemon, vanilla, spice, clove, pepper. There is a slight bitterness with a moderately sweet overall flavor. The wheat flavors combine well with the other elements. The beer is moderately light with a light bitterness, It has a somewhat dry finish with the fruity esters lasting long into the finish. This is a good example of a witbier with a complex combination of spices and wheat along with the fruity esters.
3.1Smell is sweet, in balanced, bit rotten almost. Taste is bitter, and had pure madeiridation. No date to be found, but pretty sure it is expired.. Still a lively, Sharp carbo. And ok mf.
3.6A really good wheat. Pours a nice golden color with a good flowery aroma. Really easy to drink.
3.6draft that pour a slightly cloudy yellow color.. aroma is typical witte style beer. nice wheat nose with hints of citrus. minus the coriander. the flavor was soft and mellow nice wheat flavor with and underlying orange peel flavor there is a spice in it which could be coriander but it is mild. very easy to drink this one...
3.7Pours straw, light foamy head. Aroma is floral, taste is lemon orange citrus bitter straw soap. Good.
4.212 oz. bottle. Pours a clear yellow color with a thick white head. Aroma is wheat and a sourness, somehow fresh. Medium-light body, taste is lightly citrus, plenty of carbonation on the tongue, taste has plenty of that wheat flavor to it. Finish is fairly clean with just a touch of sour to it. Excellent!
2.7Bottle poured, light golden color with light cloudiness and thick white head. Very light initial flavor with very strong tart/sour aftertaste. Think light beer as you swallow and morning breath immediately after. Not impressed.
