Omnipollo / Brewdog I Wanna Be Your Dog

Omnipollo / Brewdog I Wanna Be Your Dog

Here's a beer we asked to sit and stay, and it did, patiently for almost a year in whisky casks. I Wanna Be Your Dog is our second collaboration with Omnipollo and together we've produced a beer that captures the spirits of both breweries - a barrel-aged imperial stout that smells like a dream and drinks like a dessert in a glass. Overflowing with rich caramel and pecan aromas accompanied by a smooth vanilla custard character present on the palate, intensified by a warm boozy backbone. Beware of the dog, this is obscenely indulgent.

4.2 On tap at OMBF 2018, Krakow. Pours black with light brownish head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some vanilla, light+ pecan nuts, some bourbon. Soft carbonation, warming. Sweet with some bitterness. Full bodied.
4.3 Appearance- black, a 1-2 finger dark brown creamy head. Aroma- chocolate cake, brownie, chocolate muffin, dark malts, more chocolate, toasty malt, some more chocolate. Taste- rich chocolate torte, roast malt, coffee, vanilla traces, syrupy chocolate, bitter roasty undertones, chocolate ice cream with caramel sauce, pecan nuts. Thick and smooth mouthfeel. Very tasty, abv completely hidden.
5.0 330 ml can. Wow, once again one of this wonderful Omnipollo beers! Pours with an opqaque and almost black color and a fat tan head. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, vanilla, lots of nuts and hints of cocoa. Taste follows the nose with a warming and intense mouthfeeling. Great job, guys! And this is not my favorite beerstyle.
3.8 Pachnie nieco jak Soplica Orzechowa albo takie monte, mocno orzechowo. Trochę też wanilii, masła (orzechowego...). Ładna, ciemna piana, ale lekko to wodniste. Słodkie, ale ma trochę goryczy. Dość mocno też nagazowane jak na risa. No i mało ciała.
4.0 33cl Can @ Saveur-Biere, Lille, France. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, nuts. Taste is roasted malt, milk chocolate, sweet, vanilla, nuts. Full body, soft carbonation.
3.6 One More Beer Festival Krakow 2018. Typical Omnipollo, smells like chocolate cookies and tastes like a watery roasted RIS.
3.7 One More Beer Festival 2018. Orzechowe, alkoholowe, czekoladowe, trochę Bourbon, nieułożone
3.9 Draft at one more beer festival krakow poland 2nd day session 2.............
4.1 Wypite na OMBF 2018 w Krakowie. Prawdziwy deser w płynie. Aromat bardzo wyrazisty ale trochę sztuczny. Masa bombonierkowych czekoladek z wszystkimi możliwymi dodatkami.
Mycket gott!
3.9 W aromacie typowe omnipollo, orzechy, kawa, czekolada. Wyglad ok. W smaku slabiej tylko palone, slodkie, brakuje ciala. Mimo wszystko mocniej palone omnipollo.
3.5 Can 330ml @ Norwegian Ratebeer Gathering 2018 Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, donut, marshmellow, vanilla and sugar. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, sweet, marshmellow, vanilla, coffee and chocolate finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
4.0 33cl can a home, bought at Hopt.nl. Appearance: pitch black with medium sized dark beige head. Aroma: chocolate, vanilla, chocolate chip cookies, pecan pie, mocca and caramel. Taste: fairly high sweetness and high bitterness. Notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, some pecan. Palate: medium to full bodied, sticky texture and soft carbonation. Quite warming finish. Overall: Very good pastry stout. I love the aroma. Not as overly sweet as some of omnipollo's brews. Not too boozy for a 12% abv beer.
4.5 Pours black with a nice dose of dark head. Aroma is incredibly deep and rich, with loads of caramel, custard, cocoa and whisky. Amazing. Medium body. Flavour is surprisingly dry but still rich, bitter with a lot of cocoa and quite a bit of creaminess from the lactose. Coffee hints and a lot of whisky, which makes the beer even smoother. I'm general quite sweet but balanced by the bitterness. Finishes dry and warming, with a vanilla and whisky note.
3.7 Whisky barrel aged stout by two of Europe’s top stars in craft beer, tasted from tap at Gollem in Antwerp. Thick and frothy, deep brownish beige, almost ruddy-hued head on a pitch black beer. Aroma of chocolate milkshake, mocha ice cream, coffee cream, whisky, Grand Marnier, wet oak, kahlua, hazelnut paste, marzipan, black peppercorns. Very sweet onset, candied dates covered in additive sugary sweetness with an effect of hazelnut paste, soft carbonation with hugely thick, creamy, viscous mouthfeel, deep sweetish hazelnutty and milk chocolatey middle, coffee cream-like effect due to the unfermented lactose and additive sugar, but suddenly clashing with a heating, peppery, very boozy whisky effect, rather harshly so and wry in the end, aided by the tannins from the wood and spicy hoppiness. I see many geeks raving about this – the names of the creators alone are probably enough to induce a certain hype – but for me, the luscious, desserty Omnipollo sweetness and creaminess clashes too much with the whisky booze. I have nothing against Omnipollo, on the contrary, but I was actually hoping for some more BrewDog B.A. stout style and less Omnipollo pastry stout style, to be honest.
3.9 Can at GrimFest, byob. Aroma of pecan, Noa, chocolate cake, caramel sauce, vanilla, maybe some bourbon. Black with tan head. Taste is moderate sweet, bitter chocolate, light bitter, some ash/black malt, light booze. Full body, thick creamy feel and light bitter chocolate cake with caramel.
4.4 Pours black, small dark head. Smell is pure Noa. Doughy. Chocolate. Taste is sharp, bit boozy. Whiskey. Noa overpowers the backbone. Nice, but not overly detailed in its perfection.
4.8 Draft glass @ Gollem: Craft Beer Madness #2. Black syrup, little mocha head. Nose is pure sweet candy, sugar, chocolate, mocha ice-cream, reminiscent of Noa,… Some alcohol but not much all sweet almost coconut, sugar, brownie, pastry, chocolate cake, candy, awesome pasty stout reminiscent of Noa, not much whisky here but who cares.
3.9 0,1l taster at home courtesy of Sander, big thanks. black color, very small very dark coffee colored head. smells strong of cinnamon, hazelnuts, light bitter chocolate, earthy, very nutty, some vanilla. very nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of hazelnuts, vanilla, light bitter chocolate, earthy, very light caramel. finishes lightly roasty bitter with notes of vanilla, hazelnuts and some chocolatey notes. quite good one, a bit too much vanilla / bitterish vanilla. Also almost a bit simple, just heavy on vanilla and hazelnuts. Overall still very enjoyable though.
4.0 Piana spora, ale szybko znika, czarna, nieprzejrzysta barwa. Aromat intensywny, przeładowany czekoladą, orzechami, karmelem, wanilią,olejkiem do ciasta... W smaku dość słodkie, kakaowe, deserowe, sernikowe, orzechowe, nieco sztuczne jednak, troszkę chemiczne, lekko kawowo kwaskowe, z dość wysoką, paloną goryczką, niskim wysyceniem, dość pełnym ciałem i nieźle ukrytym alko.
4.0 [5/12/18] Draught sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018. Green session. Big chocolate, nuts, coffee, vanilla, a bit artificial, bourbon, sweet, full-bodied.
4.4 Can 330ml. @ home. [ As Omnipollo / Brewdog I Wanna Be Your Dog ]. Clear dark black colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige to light brown head. Flavor is heavy sweet with a long duration, chocolate, dark malt, cocoa, ice cream - custard, vanilla, pecan, light barrel - whisky. 4.7 330 ml can from The Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate cake, pecan, walnut. Taste is sweet, chocolate cake, fudge , huge pecan taste with a hint of bourbon. Body is medium to full with a soft carbonation. Long sweet chocolate and pecan aftertaste.
3.9 Draught, taster. Sampled on the 12/05/2018 at "Mikkeller Beer Celebration 2018", Copenhagen. Intense black with a foamy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, vanilla, cookies, toffee and some mocha coffee. Taste is rich and complex with presence of vanilla, cookies, mocha and a warming and coffee finish. Sweet and long finish. Next one please!
