3.1 330ml bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Slightly nuttily, dark malty aroma, a touch of toffee, cautious hints of liquorice. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, notes of toffee, a nuttily touch, additional hints of liquorice in the finish. Simple, OK.
3.1 50cl bottle given to me as a gift. Poured in a tulip glass. Dark amber with a 2 finger tan head. Decent lacing. Roasted malt, tobacco, fruit and a bit of caramel aroma. Taste has a nice balancing acidity. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Easy drinking dark ale
3.0 Bottle. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel, some bubble gum. Clear brown with tan head, mostly diminishing. Taste is light+ sweet and light bitter. Light+ body, watery+ feel, avg. carb., caramel finish.
3.1 A clear and dark amber color with off-white head. Aroma is fruity, nuts. Taste is sweet and a bit watery finish, though the carbonation i fizzy.
2.6 Beautiful and rich foam on a rich aroma of malt and hops. The taste is rich of caramel malt and slightly fruity acidity. Furthermore, the clear hint of nuts and a good round hop bitterness. It can easily have the character traits of a brown ale, but then a light one. Earlier Rating: 10/15/2015 Total Score: 4.5 This beautiful Brown Ale is made with inspiration from English ales. I certainly think that Ørbæk’s version is far better than the ales that apparently has been its role models. Foam is light brown and persistent, the fragrance is dominated by caramel, malt and nuts. It has a very delicate sparkling taste the notes of malt and hops blends in well with caramel and nuts. The very first mouthful reminds the most of a dark mild ale, but seconds after the start flavor nuances to develop in the moth. The aftertaste is bitter on a soft shape.
3.3 Look; fawn huge head, purple red body, thick lacing. Aroma; leafy live hops, modest dark malts, fruits and berries, inviting scents. Taste; soft hops, nutty malts, grass, bread, malted candies, cocoa - leading to a gentle malty finish. On palate fine. Overall; easy brew. Could’ve had more hops to give it more "ale’ish" touch. 3.2 Fast klare rötlichbraune Farbe, geringer stabiler beiger Schaum. Geruch kräftig malzig, Karamell, leicht hopfig, reife Früchte. Geschmack nussig, Karamell, leicht hopfig, kaum Bitterkeit, schlanker Körper.
3.1 Bottle @ home w friends/panzer. Appearance: pours slightly cloudy reddish brown with good white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: barley, bread, caramel hints, and some floral notes. palette: medium aroma, average carbonation, medium body, average sweetness, balanced by an average bitterness, medium duration and a watery texture. Overall: decent brown with a nice bitter finish.
2.7 Copenhagen 20/6 2015. 33 cl in the cafe at local library. Hugely overpriced. Boasting of a 13 years old biodynamic gold medal. Pours dark brown with off-white head. Settles as thin layer of foam. Sweet aroma with some caramel and a discrete bitterness. Medium carbonation. Taste is sweetish with some caramel and a little bit of metal. Only a very small degree of bitterness in aftertaste. An ok brown ale but nothing more. They call themselves "the small brewery with the big/great taste". Does not seem fully justified in this case.
2.6 English aroma. English yeast taste with hints of caramel and roast. A little sweet finish.
3.1 Bottle. Pours light hazy dark brown. Aromas of malts, caramel, chocolate, nuts, light hops, citrus. More hops, caramel, dark chocolate, citrus, malts.
3.0 Nice clear nutty color with a thick tan head. Ok lacing. Bready and roasted aroma. Medium body. Tad sweet and an ok bitterness. Average carbonation. Bready, toffee and roasted flavor. Decent brown ale. [Bottle (as Nyhavn Dark Ale) at Pigen & Sømanden in Nyhavn Copenhagen, Denmark]
2.7 0.5 bottle. Hazy, brown color, and a large, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, delicate chocolate, and grains. Taste is sweet, dry and malty; some obvious caramel, and a tad of dark chocolate. Medium body, slick texture, and average carbonation. Finish is medium long and a bit bitterer than the taste. Overall nothing special, that’s all folks.
3.4 Bottle@guren with Bolton. Small head. Amber. Caramel. Toffee. Residual sweetness pronounced. Heavy body. Classic for style.
2.5 The aroma is full of chocolate and dried fruits. The color is red and brown mixed together, a nice color. The taste is lightly sour. A really good beer that I can enjoy a lot of.
4.8 A dark amber, ecological brown ale with high creamy head. Aroma is caramel, malty, slightly coffee. Taste is bitter.
3.5 33 cl, flaske, denne 2013-version har 5,0 % ABV, BB 09/01/14, gave fra Robert - tak! 20. november 2014. Intet surt i smagen.
2.2 Nut brown. Flowery nose. Dusty aroma with notes of green apples. very roasty. Rather sweet with lightish body and medium bitterness.
2.3 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet malt, slightly fruity. Taste is sweet-sour, a bit off, light bitter. Long our-bitter aftertaste.
2.9 Nyhavn dark ale, drukket i Nyhavn. Mørk orangebrun med beige kremete skum. Malt og karamellukt. Søt karamell og noe humlebitterhet i smaken. Kort, noe bitterhet sitter igjen. Lite kullsyre
2.4 bottle. more amber than brown with a thin head. sweet caramel and porridge aroma; really rusty, dusty flavours; a bit messy
2.8 Bottle. Clear reddish pour with white head. Aroma is sweet. Taste has some malt and a very sweet ending. With SNL
3.5 Bottle. Clear red Golden pour. Minimal offwhite head. Sweet malty Nose, mostly malty taste, with caramel notes. Medium body, soft carbonation.
2.5 Brown. Medium amount of white head. Malt, honey, wort flavour. Sweet. Bitter ending. Below medium body. Not my style, but ok.
3.0 Bottle, 50cl. Pours brown reddish, little cloudy with a foamy beige head. Sweet malty head with caramel and dried fruits. Medium sweet taste - turns dry, bit metallic in the liquorice, caramel middle notes. Can’t hide the fact the body is not per se anything special, but gets a bit watery behind the lively carbonation. Average brown ale.
