Original Sin Hard Cider

Original Sin Hard Cider

Original Sin was born out of the NYC experience. The founders, all NYC’ers, came to see the need for a superior cider, a cider that was clean and complex with a noticeable bite. The quest to create the perfect recipe encompassed both day and night. Day was spent in upstate in a winery, tasting, testing and mixing. Nights were spent in NYC bars, getting feedback from bar owners and patrons. The result, Original Sin Hard Cider was released to immediate acclaim from sources as diverse as the The New York Times, Paper Magazine, and Market Watch.

2.4 Pour is a cloudy chalk color with a fizzy head. Aroma is nothing special as artificial apple is the only thing you detect. Flavor is much of the same. Very artificial and watery.
3.3 On tap in Brooklyn. Pours yellow with small white head. Apple aroma and flavor. Sweet with dry finish.
3.3 Sampler at the Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, Fl 2/9/15 Very good!
3.3 Crisp and clean looks. On the nose too, a little tart, a little dry. In the mouth there is a burst of sweetness that is quickly evened out with tangy tart fruit both of which slowly fade away twirling together quite pleasantly.
3.1 Draft, Nano Brew Cleveland on 26 Nov, 2014. Aroma is apple sweetness, sugars. Light in body with high carbonation and a dry, clean finish. Tart apples, weak white grape and pears. Overall well-made but standard.
4.0 Clear with only a faint yellow. Nose has a very faint acidity of Granny Smith and heirloom dry apples. Taste is good. Sharp sweetness that fades to a very hearty finish. I like this one
2.9 Thank you Shari for sending this to me. She sent 2 bottles. One was poured into a pint glass and the other was poured into a wine glass. The appearance was the same in both. A slight hazy amber color with a transparency about it to allow a bubbly carbonation to be seen rising. The smell had a sweet to tart apple note and an added sugary note as well. The taste was moderately sweet with a balancing tartness that was pretty good. On the palate, there’s a certain sharpness but still a light sticky dry sweet apple rolling over my tongue. I would say that this one sat about a light on the body. Overall, not a bad cider. I think I could return to this if I saw it again or if offered.
2.7 Draft and bottle. Poured a clear golden yellow color with no real head to speak of. Aroma is apple juice, sweet, some alcohol. Flavor is sweet, sugary, with some light dry notes. Better than most macro-style ciders.
2.5 Average cider at best. Nice n crisp and sharp, but with little else going on besides a bit of alcohol bite, not one I’d ever need to revisit."
3.0 Pours a pale clear yellow, not too impressive even for a cider. Crisp apple aroma is sweet and inviting. Apple flavor is sweet with a sour undertone. Firm texture has a lively and fairly persistent tingle, and finish has a little fruity sourness. Go ahead and sin!
3.4 355ml bottle. Expected this to be nothing but for a flagship style cidre it is dry and has a nice depth of apple flavor.
2.1 Just ok. More dry than I like. Really clear - it was so clear that my wife wondered if there was something wrong with it. Had an ok taste, I won’t be picking up any more of this.
2.0 Poured from bottle in mix six pack, pours a pale yellow, and it’s pretty much see through, more like a dark tinted water look, aroma and flavor is extremely sweet and the flavor is more artificial than anything, ugh.
2.4 Tap at Lazy Dog. Pours about as see through and pale as you can get. Taste of apples and pears. Aroma of apples.
3.0 12 oz (350ml) bottle, 5.5%. Clear pale yellow colour, foam white head and aroma of sugary fruity apple. Taste is sweet, apple, fruity, melon, light wood and abit of tartness. Slightly foamy mouthfeel, light bodied, low to medium carbonation, dryish finish with some residual sweetness. Quite OK.
2.9 Smell is apple cranberry like. Cherry obviously but smells kind of cranberry like with a faint touch of alcohol. Taste is like apples and cherries with a tiny amount of alcohol showing up. Medium body and light to normal carbonation. Decent and not medicinal cherry tasting at least, but i’d prefer not noticing any alcohol at all. Not the most natural tasting either, but its ok.
3.6 Original Sin cider has been around for a while now. Never gave much thought to cider prior to OS. Had only partaken in such low quality ciders as Woodchuck, Strongbow, etc. But OS opened my mind to the potential of ciders and how enjoyable they really can be. To be truthful, it’s not exceptional, but for the price it’s damn good. . Much better (and better for you) than Inbev (Johnny Appleseed) or MillerCoors (Smith & Forge) offerings. It’s at the same price point in my area as Angry Orchard, yet much drier and more refined. It’s not an ultra-premium hand crafted cider like some local offerings here in Richmond, VA as in Blue Bee, Albemarle Cider Works, or Potters, but it’s not priced to be. Expect an effervescent, clean tasting cider, that leans toward off-dry but in comparison to similarly priced 6-pack ciders out there it would have to be considered a dry. Good, not great, but extremely drinkable. Cheers!
2.7 Bottle at home with the wife. Pours a pale yellow color with no head. The aroma is apples, very juicy, the lightest hint of wood, mild tart, not too much going on. I would rather just drink non alcoholic apple cider. Pass.
2.6 On tap @ Quality in Champaign IL. Very pale yellow with the faintest green tinge. Medium carbo. Simple apple aroma and flavour, a bit too sweet for me.
2.8 Not a great hard cider, but very drinkable. on tap at the los angeles beer festival. Orange haze, lots of apples, smells fresh and tastes decent.
2.9 12oz bottle. Golden pour. The aroma is apples, apple juice, faint yeastiness. Okay flavor, mildly sweet, apples and apple juice, hints at yeast and a touch of tartness. Not bad.
2.6 12 oz bottle. From alesbymail.co.uk. Almost colourless liquid with some faint yellowish hints. Sugary sweetness, sulphites and fruit essence in the aroma. The flavour is very dry with apple, apple wine, alcohol and sulphite notes. Not the worst dry apple cider but not a pleasure either.
0.8 ok where is there and apple orchard in Manhattan hmmmm definitly made to make monney not for quality thats for sure
2.9 On tap at Olde Hickory. Pours a very light yellow color with white head. Big apple juice flavor. I don’t taste the alcohol in this one at all.
3.6 Bottle 355ml. Pours very clear yellow/greenish. No lacing. Aroma is of apples, wine, yeast? Taste is of apples, sugar. The alcohol is well hidden. Palate: Good balance. Low carbonation. Overall: Pretty drinkable. Nice apples, good balance. This is a pretty fair cider.
2.8 On tap @ Olde Hickory. Pours a clear super fucken light appearance with little head. Sweet tart apple juice aroma. Really basic. Moderately tart. Not overly sweet. Just tastes like apple juice.
3.2 350ml bottle from Hand Drawn Monkey, Huddersfield but first tasted in the Big Apple, so to speak. Seem to remember it tasting better over there. Pours clear to light yellow, taste is light with green apples, desert apples and a syrupy sweetness although not as full on as the likes of Bulmers. It’s an accessible, sweet blend but my tastebuds want something a bit rougher than this.
3.7 Bottle (12 oz). Shared by Minderbinder, thanks! Clear pale yellow/almost translucent with no head and no lacing. Aroma is of apples, light pear, light sweetness and hints of tartness. Taste is of apples with just a nice touch of sweetness, light pear and light acidic notes. Alcohol is completely hidden. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Extremely drinkable and refreshing/quenching and nicely dry. Incredibly underrated. I would take it as an everyday cider anytime. Nice surprise!
3.9 One of my favorite hard ciders. Dry, not too sweet, just strong enough to enjoy.
3.0 Clear green gold pour with medium carbonation. Tart initial taste of green apples.
