A black stout which is brimming over with roast malt flavours, balanced with a complex hop blend. Really smooth with roasted aftertaste.

3.5As Stouts go this has many characteristics of both a stout and an IPA. A heavy toasted oat flavour with an underlying bitterness and hoppy finish.
2.9Bottle, from Tesco, Orkney. Jet black, thin but lasting coffee beige head and gentle condition. Pleasant roasted coffee beans, blackberry and sweet liquorice in the nose, soft and dry in the mouth with a roasted barley bitterness, a brief hint of sweetness and slight liquorice notes. Finish is quite bitter and dry with a lingering sweet coffee note and more liquorice.
3.9Orkney Dragonhead 4.0%. Blackish brown, roasted malt and dark chocolate aroma, full bodied, dark roasted malt, bitter roasted coffee, dark chocolate, spices, smokey finish. Pleasant, smooth stout from Orkney, Scotland 🏴
3.5From bottle (BB Oct'19) in porter glass. Pours near black w/billowing dark tan head, aroma of choc malt & aniseed. Smooth drinking, creamy malt translates into soft bitterness, slightly tart
3.5Bardzo dobry Stout, szkockie piwa naprawdę mi imponują. Ciekawa etykieta, przyjemny kremowy aromat a w smaku kawa i czekolada.
3.7Bottle, Beers of Europe. Deep brown colour, white foam. Good flavour and body for the strength, toasty and coffee rather than chocolate or really roasty, good bittersweet note. Felt to me more like a dark ale of the type often seen in Scotland than a stout per se. Enjoyable.
3.0Erikoisesti palanut kahvi.
3.8Dark brown liquid, hardly any head. Aroma of smoked ham. Light body, little bit carbonation. Taste is smoky, stout.
3.7Bottle at the Gairloch hotel. Pours black, nose is roasted, liquorice, toffee, taste is similar, quite bitter, dry.
3.9This reminded me of malta....that malty non-alcoholic soda drink that you get at Latin restaurants or grocery store. Has very low ABV%, which brings out the dark malty flavors that make up this beer. Also has a lighter carbonation mouthfeel that is pretty standard with these Scottish/Irish Stouts. I was a little hesitant to pay this price for a "lighter" beer so to speak, but knew this would be about the flavor and not the buzz. It definitely delivered flavor-wise......bitter chocolate, coffee, major malts, roasty, smokey. Pretty much the polar opposite of a hop bomb. This is something that I would try again, a little pricey though.
3.6Lovely the roasted flavour from the malts, love how long that stays with you, love the smoothness, could do with it being slightly less hoppy. Not a big favourite but I wouldn't turn it down if offered.
3.9Sehr schöne Röstaromen
3.7Pours pitch black with brown head. Aroma is sweet licorice. Taste is roast, malts and a pleasant bitterness. Very good Stout.
3.3Tyk, sort, med brunt skum. Flot.
Noget kraftigere aroma end forventet. Kaffe, chokolade, ristet malt.
Stor fylde. Smooth. Underlig og skæv eftersmag, som ikke klæder den.
Positivt overrasket i første omgang, men skuffet efter et halvt glas.
3.4sample from a friend. was slightly thin for a stout taste nice ish.
3.5500 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of slightly smokey roasted malts and dark milk chocolate. Flavors of dry roasted malts, ash, and nutty dark chocolate. Initial watery sensation with dry roasty finish. Nothing really special these days but quite good for the ABV and the original style
3.8500ml bottle: BBE Mar 2018. Obtained from Beers of Europe and shared between three during a random tasting session at my house on 15th Sep 2017. A very pleasant Stout in all aspects, looked, smelled and tasted good. Deep and darkest black body, tanned head. Chocolate and coffee notes abound in both the aroma and taste: rich, smooth and slick body wise. An ideal and sensible last beer of the evening being only 4% ABV.
3.2Ar: Cocoa, dried cherry and dried strawberry. Ap: Black and opaque; medium-large mocha head with moderate retention, leaving a thin but solid cap of foam. T: Toffee, caramel, and chocolate; very little sweetness; roast and dried pear; bitterness is medium, quite firm, and slightly herbal in taste; coffee and char on the finish. P: Light body with high carbonation; finish is dry. O: A middle-of-the-road stout; bold roasted flavor with some esters and hops showing through; fairly light in body, but still quite flavorful.
3.5500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, brown head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, bitter coffee and a hint of smoke with a dry, tangy hop finish. Light to medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice stout for such a low ABV.
3.6Appearance: Dark brown, clear. Some dark tan head.
Aroma: Dark malt, roasted. Some dark chocolate.
Taste: Dark malt, roasted, light coffee. Yes, some smoke. Nice.
Bought: Beers of Europe, 500 ml, £2.89

3.5Bottle. Pitch Black in colour. Very Malty; espresso coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, liquorice, hint of smoke. Hoppy; spicy and rather earthy hops. Smooth. Sweetish roast malty throughout. Mildly bitter sour hoppy finish. Easy drinking. Sessionable. Liked this. Nice stout! (2009-05)
3.450cl bottle at O Reillys Düsseldorf.
Medium creamy tan head. Clear black pour. Good for the abv.
2.9500ml Flasche. Klar und schwarz mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Leichtes Kaffeearoma. Spritzig. Erfrischend. Durchschnittlicher Körper.
4.1$5.49 500 ml bottle from Market Steer Wine Shop, Downtown. Pours BLACK with a giant, soft brown head. Luscious aroma of smoked peat, chocolates, coffee, earth, wood - this is amazing. Flavor is quote similar, yet not as strong. Smoked peat, light chocolate, coffee grounds. Slightly earthy, slightly woody. It doesn’t check in with that higher alcohol stout, but damn - if it did this would be a masterpiece.
3.8Pours black with a muddy head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee grounds, and is a touch vinous. It works and is very inviting. Taste is pleasantly bitter and quite dry, with roasted coffee, nuts, and smoke all present. The finish remains bitter, but also takes on a light sourness from the hops. Body is lighter than average for a stout, but I would not describe it as watery. A good stout, particularly if searching for a stout with a lower than average ABV.
4.1Bottle into wine glass. Black, cream head clings to side of glass. Nose is a bit sweet, i’d’ve guessed aged in bourbon barrels. Very dry stout, chocolate, coffee, and toffee. Slightly bitter finish. Very nice dry stout.
3.4Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Max & Stas. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, a bit of licorice, caramel, nuts, and a smoky hint. Sweetish flavor, with chocolate, nuts, caramel, a bit of dark fruits, mild smokiness, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. A good one.
3.3Black with short-lived brown head. Pleasant but subtle aroma - chocolate, coffee, dark malt, something medicinal. Medium body, slightly oily with modest bright carbonation. Taste is dominated by dark roast malt, with notes of burnt sugar. There’s some balancing acidity and some softer sweetness in the background. Pleasant but the taste is a bit harsh and lacks complexity.
3.7500ml bottle. Dark brown colour with a chocolate-coloured head. The aroma contains faint hints of chocolate, the burn of brandy, and a touch of iron oil. Smooth flavour of roasted malt with a touch of cream and the scent of grass.
