Oskar Blues Death By Coconut

Oskar Blues Death By Coconut

Originally a collaboration with Shamrock Brewing Co.

Intense pure liquid cacao flavors swirl with popping coconut aromas, all supported by a semi-sweet porter made from loads of our dark chocolate and extra dark caramel malt. This limited release specialty comes around once a year to satisfy that sweet tooth, so get ’em while you can before they disappear. At 6.5% ABV and 25 IBUs, this choconut goodness will have you yellin’ "Pass. Dash. Hit." all winter long.

3.6 Canned, 355 ml, shared with Max. Dark brown beige head. Chocolate, coconut, perfumy, cocoa, watery. Low carbonation. Tad sweet. Medium bodied.
3.2 Can from Martin’s. Black with a tan head. Aroma of coconut malt. Flavour is milk chocolate and coconut, dark spicy on a bitter base, long dry finish.
3.4 355ml can. Pours very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is sweet coconut, milk chocolate and cola. Taste has cola and coconut throughout, with a yeasty finish. A little watery.
3.3 Can: Nose is coconut, chocolate, bounty, vanilla, hint of mint, chocolate. Taste is chocolate, coconut, vanilla, hint of marzipan, roast stout notes which off set the sweetness of the adjuncts. It's a beer I always wanted to try when I first heard of it, but the lived experience while better than many other coconut beers is only OK.
3.8 Poured from 355mL can (canned 10/16/20). Very dark brown with tan head. Lots of coconut with underlying rich chocolate. Sweetness is balanced with the bitterness. Quite nice.
3.8 Black body with thick tan head. Coconut aroma. Malt body with cacao and a coconut finish.
4.1 Mooie licht gebrande chocolade kokosnoot bitter. Lichte olieachtige structuur. Niks dood aan deze cocosnoot. Van mag hij blijven 😃 Blik @ Proefglas klein
3.2 12 oz can. Tastes like cocoa with quite a bit of coconut in it. Roasted malts too. A tad too sweet and cloying, and not enough going on beyond the chocolate and coconut, but it's pretty good for what it is.
4.3 Great dessert beer.Strong toasted coconut,nice choc,thick & heavy
3.7 Can at home. Pours nearly opaque jet black with a small, frothy beige head, short retention. Medium rich roast malt, medium coconut and chocolate malt, light dates, and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
3.6 Can. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma: coconut up front, with chocolate & vanilla behind. Taste: moderate to heavy sweet, chocolate, intense coconut. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Very sweet but works quite well.
3.8 Where: Can at Home With: Recon Boys Color: Opaque black Head: Medium and tan Aroma: Heavy coconuts and chocolate Taste: Heavy coconut and chocolate flavors, tastes just like an almond joy. Medium thickness mouthfeel. 3.8/5
4.3 Dark black, smells sweet, coconut and slightly metallic. Taste is hints of coconut, dark chocolate and coffee. Has a slightly thick mouth feel which is nice. Good beer.
3.1 Nose with lots of coconut and metallic hint. Taste is slight cocoa but also metallic. Palate very short and far.
5.0 Had this at Alfia’s
4.1 My last one from the LCBO 2019 Autumn Craft beer program, shared with my nephew after supper, I had thought this was a scotch ale, but no, truly a stout, faint aroma, but the taste is really there with the chocolate and the coconut. Well done.
4.2 Summerish taste, reminding of a tropical beach. 4/6 sweet, flavor good towards lite.
4.6 Real raw coconut, not coconut "flavored"
4.4 Love this beer and perfect with a South Indian/ Kerala curry. As these are usually coconut based it seems to extenuate the coconut flavour within the beer. Strong coconut throughout but balanced with some bitter chocolate and also taste and smell of rum. Not a beer for everyday but definitely one to search out when you get the chance.
4.5 Smooth, chocolates and coconut. Great taste. Awesome for cooler weather.
4.1 Aroma is coacoa nibs, dark chocolate malts and a ton of coconut. Taste is dark chocolate, moderate coconuts, and roasted malts. Quite sweet but he coconuts arnt overwhelming.
3.4 12oz can. Pours dark brown cola with a white head. Huge whiff of coconut. Notes of milk chocolate and toasted coconut. Enjoyed this one at first but found it to be too much like drinking a candy flavored soda by the end of the glass.
4.0 Can from Struise Shop, Bruges. Pours hazy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, beige head. Aroma of coconut, vanilla custard, crème brûlée, mocha, milk chocolate, vague soy, fig. Taste has sweet milk chocolate, biscuit & cream with gentle coconut accents intermingling, undertone of nuts & dried dark fruits, only softly toasted bitter. Malty, herbal hoppy finish, not overly toasty but still apparent, while chocolate, coconut & cream linger too. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. We might all agree that these characteristics work even better in a hefty Imperial Porter (or even Stout perhaps), but this one does the job very well too.
4.2 12 fl.oz can. A black beer with a tan head. Aroma of intense sweet dark roasted malt with tons of coconut, some caramel and chocolate. Taste of sweet coconut, chocolate, intense sweet dark malt, caramel. Slightly sticky. Good stuff!
3.4 (Can) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, coconut, treacle and fudge. Malty, roasted, sweet taste with chocolate, coffee, butterscotch, coconut and a sweet finish with low bitterness. Medium body, really sweet. Lots of chocolate and coconut, but too sweet and cloying. Still, quite nice.
3.4 Puszka. Czarny kolor. Piana brązowa,mała ,zanika szybko. Wyraźny aromat kokosa, wanilii,słodkiej czekolady i batona bounty. W smaku ponownie sprawia wrażenie czekolady bounty w plynie...kokos ,słodka wanilia i czekolada ,lekkie mleczne kakao. Małe wysycenie i sporo słodyczy.
2.9 Burk från SB. Mörkbrun mot svart öl med ett brunt skum. Doft och av kokos, mörk choklad och kakao. Något tunn och för kokossöt för min del.
3.8 Can. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of coconut, chocolate and vanilla. Rich and smooth flavor of roasted malts, toasted coconut, chocolate, caramel and had some nuttiness. Good stuff
3.4 Burk 500 ml från Systembolaget. Brunsvart med smutsvitt skum som sedan försvinner helt. Doft av kokos och choklad. Smak av rostad malt, kokos, kaffe och choklad. Perfekt som efterrätt.
