Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red IPA

Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red IPA

Our ’Velvet M-80’ is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ipa with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. 4.3 hazy orange-ish amber colour, large, dense and long lasting yellowish-beige-ish ecru head which lasts for several minutes; aroma of pine resiny, grape peel, grapefruity, some orange zesty, biscuity and tropical fruity notes; perfectly balanced bittersweet taste with the same notes as can be felt in the aroma; great one!
3.5 Can. Malty and hoppy aroma and taste, resin, caramel, alcohol, light sweet, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty and hoppy bitter sweet finish. Ok.

3.8 An amber-gold pour with a rocky, off-white head. It has a bready, malt aroma with spicy hops. The medium body has sticky texture. The taste is bittersweet with a sweeter, malty finish.
4.0 355ml can, canned on 17th Oct 2020. Poured into a Good People Brewing Company (Birmingham ALA) pint glass at home on 27th Feb 2021. Clean and clear amber body, creamy coloured foam on top. Hoppy front to the nose and taste, good malty base too. Piney hops and plenty of them, sweetness from the malts coming through for balance. This is a very pleasant IPA in deed.
2.9 Fresh evergreen aroma. Flavor is bitter hop with just a little caramel malt sweetness at the end. Bitter aftertaste. A good example of the style.
3.4 Pours reddish amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma of pine and resinous oils. Taste has resinous pine with a hint of lemon hops and molasses/sweetened malt. Palate has more pine layered over sweetened malt. Good.
4.1 Reddish with a medium head that soon dissipates.Hoppy with some spices in the mix.Quite powerful yet easy to drink.Left lots of lacing. A good one.
3.8 Blik 33cl thuis. Caramel, hoppig, zacht, fruitig, rood fruit, bitter, zoeten, rogge, redelijk droog. Goede balans. (13-11-2020).
4.5 Definitely one of the best Oskar Blues beers out there. Such a nice malty profile balanced with the hops

3.8 Appearance is amber with a ruby tinge, a half-finger beige head. Aroma is malt, dark fruits, raisiny toffee caramel, brown bread, malt loaf, vanilla hints. Taste is caramel, sugary dark fruit, rye, toffee malt, fruitcake, nutty malt, bit of marzipan, sweet butterscotch finish. Full, smooth and sweet mouthfeel. Good.
2.8 Can sample at a tasting. Slightly hazy copper-golden with white head. The aroma has notes of caramel, spices, rye, earthy. The flavor is sweet and mild bitter with notes of alcohol, caramel, citrus (orange), earthy, spices, rye. Full-bodied.
3.8 Amber with a white head and a hoppy nose. Nicely-carbonated with a malty mouthfeel and a strong, caramel, butterscotch finish.
3.2 Can at a tasting. Hazy amber, creamy head. Stale hops, caramel aromas. Sweet, caramel, spicy, fruity, malty, a bit of alcoholic warmth. Medium-bodied, sticky.
4.0 Amber color with lacing off-white head. Aroma has caramel, rye, malt, resin and pine. Taste is malty sweet with long bitter and dry aftertaste. Flavors of rye, pine, needles, resin and some fruity notes.
3.8 Can from Beer Republic. Deep orange pour without much head. Plenty of orange peel, malt resin, piney hop. Sweet finish, some alcohol. Warming and satisfying.
3.8 Can into copper tankard. Decent head. Odd flavor. Nutty caramel and bitter hop. Balanced. Decent.
3.7 Can. Pours lightly hazed red amber with a frothy beige head. Aroma: spicy rye, orange marmalade, pine. Taste: light to moderate sweet & moderate bitter, malty with more marmalade, grapefruit, resin, booze. Medium bodied, generous carb, long dry bitter finish
3.9 Phenomenal beer. Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Amber, frothy and a hop bomb nose that rounds out with sweet malt notes. Strangely balanced with hints of dark molasses and peppery hops with a twist of resin. So many flavors converge in a pleasant taste. The malt sweetness creates a smooth finish off the viper like hop bite. Cheers!
5.0 Ottima Imperial ipa, gustosa. dolce e amara allo stesso tempo.
3.9 It's weird to find a imperial red IPA with flavours more akin to a West Coast style IPA. Fruit tones like passionfruit and grapefruit come in with a malty sweet biscuit backbone. This one is brewed in honour of a local brewer and former Vietnam Vet who passed away fighting fires in 2002. Legendary man, legendary beer.
2.5 Can. Herbal drops throughout, anise, fennel, dried fruit, too oxidised to be enjoyable I'm afraid.
4.0 Reddish brown with a one centmetre thick head. Spicy smell of gingerbread with a tangerine note. Same taste with an additional molasses note and a creamy texture. Nice beverage.
4.3 Part of the LCBO Spring 2019 Beer Program, a , smooth and rich IPA, the kind I would drink anytime.
3.7 12-ounce can pours clear copper with a 3/4" fluffy beige head and lacing; lots of tiny bubbles rising in the glass. Aroma: caramel, vinegar. Flavor: caramel, nuts, toast, orange, pine, brandy (the flavor improves dramatically as it warms). Mouthfeel: medium-bodied, somewhat slick, yet creamy, finish.
3.9 Strong lasting bitterness.pine,fruity.good body and carbonation.smooth.really nice red ipa, which could be fresher, but what can you do in Finland.boozy.
3.9 Cloudy copper colour with a small off-white head. Proper lacing. Nose: candied citrus fruit, caramel malt, honey, spicy hop notes. Medium to full body. Soft carbonation. Taste: medium sweet, lots of special malts, honey, candied fruit, spicy hop. Medium to heavy bitterness. Long lasting hoppy ending. A convincing effort.
3.2 9-1-2014
3.7 The cheapest can in BrewDog Tower Hill - £4 compared to a £19 pastry stout. Spicy grainy marmalade aroma. Hazy light-medium brown. Frothy creamy off-white head. Initial bitterness smooths out into marmalade sweetness. Rye spice throughout. After the first couple of sips the booziness becomes evident. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation other than an afterthought of bubbles into the finish. Long slightly astringent finish. I like a marmalade-esque beer. Good stuff.
