Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils

Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils

Mama’s Little Yella Pils is an uncompromising, hand crafted version of the great Pilsner beers of Bavaria and Bohemia. Unlike mass market “pilsners” diluted with corn and rice, Mama’s is built on pilsner and honey malt then hopped with Saaz and Aramis hops. While it’s rich with flavor, its 33 IBUs and low 4.7% ABV make it a luxurious but low-dose (by Oskar Blues standards) refresher.

2.9 Can 355ml at home. From K-Citymarket Pirkkala. Pours clear light yellow with white head. Flavor has malts, citrus, grass, grain, grassy hops. Medium body, average carbonation, bitter finish.
4.1 What I like about this Pils is the depth of flavor/taste. It’s at the opposite end of the spectrum from thin-light-simple pilsners. It’s got character, though I’m at a loss to precisely define it. I just LIKE it.
2.6 Can poured into a pilsner glass. Clear gold hue with a small, quick white head. Aroma is pilsner malts. Initial taste is lightly sweet but has a sharp bite. Fades to lightly grassy bitter hops. Light body and biting carbonation. Better than most but this just isn't my style.
3.5 12 oz can. Pours a clear pale yellow with a big rocky white head. Crisp citrus and malt smells. Nice sour lemon notes off a still crisp malt with a proper astringent pils mouthfeel. Authentic version of one of my favorite styles.
3.7 Clear gold with a white head. Well-carbonated, malty, and syrupy with a bready, somewhat bitter finish.
4.1 I’d drink this again, easily
3.3 A golden beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has grain, grass, some fruitness of citrus. Taste has maltyness of grain, grass, brying bitterness. Medium bodied. Good, aromatic and with bitterness.
3.5 Pours a hazy yellow color with a large white head and great retention. Decent lacing. Citrus and malt aroma. Crisp, but not too sharp pilsner malt flavor with a light citrus hop finish. Clean and easy drinking. Good example of the style.
3.6 12oz can thanks to Jenny and John. Pours clear light golden with a small white head, light lacing. Grains, pils malts, doughy, mild esters. Good pils
2.9 I respect the brewery, but had much better pilsners from PA: Stoudt’s, Victory, Troegs, and Sly Fox. It’s in the 15 pack, and with the other stellar selections, it’s a dud in comparison.

3.3 Can. Golden color average head. Light citrus grassy hop. Light bitterness. Light body. Average carbonation.
3.2 Nothing special, a little more bitter than a normal pilsner. But like most pilsner beers nothing to special here.
3.2 Pours clear golden color with white head. Aromas of cereal malt and grass. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation.
2.9 0,35l can. Pours cloudy gold with white head. Aroma is very light, hints of biscuits and grass. Taste is somewhat biscuity, grassy, lemon. It's fine.
3.1 Pours hazy amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma of grassy hops. Taste has a nice hop element layered on a Pilsen malt backing. Palate has bready elements. Refreshing.
3.2 Found out of can. White light foam. Light malt aroma. Very light summer lake drink.
2.6 12 oz. can poured into a pilsner glass produces a clear, light straw body and a rocky head of white foam that leaves a lacing on the glass. The aroma is neutral with a hint of pilsner malt. The mouthfeel is round without being thick. It's not as crisp as I would have expected for this style of beer. The taste is fairly mellow with flavors of malt giving way to flavors of noble hops. Overall, this is a decent pilsner, though it's not a great pilsner.
3.2 Can. Mild hoppy aroma and flavor. Not as effervescent as the ones I like Pilsner Urquell or Lvivskiy. No off-flavors. Pleasant, but not one of my faves.
2.2 Rather ordinary pils. A bit too bitter for my tastes. I won't be ordering it again.
2.9 AROMA: light grain, woody, light noble hops, slight perfume leaning towards musky cologne 2.5 – 2.75 APPEARANCE: golden yellow, hint of haze, respectable frothy white foam 3 – 3.5 TASTE: light medium malt, grain … barley and then leaning toward some corn, so has a layer of light fruitiness/sweetness and citrus, light hop flavors and bitterness, touch grassy and herbaceous. Pretty long soft bitterness and metallic followthru. 2.75-3 PALATE: medium light body, crisp and fizzy upfront, fresh and clean, not much oily or creaminess. 3 OVERALL: an above average lager, average pils. A bit muted in aroma and kinda one dimensional in flavor. However, does open up and offer some decent characteristics and uniqueness. Tad off-balance, mostly a smooth/easy drink but the lingering bitter flavor might not be some people’s favorite. So, worth an occasional try but I personally would not load up my fridge with this. 2.75-3
2.7 Tastes like a bud
2.9 Tall can. Pours bubbily yella. Slightly metallic, floral hops, grassy. Malty breads and some bitterness at first. Reminds me of a German pils, lots of malts, with a good even bitterness. Satisfying, but not that great.
3.2 canned on 14/1/19 dorata limoida discreta schiuma media persistenza cereale lieve erbaceo un filo citrico amaro medio un filo rivido buona secchezza non molto fragrante
2.6 Pours clear straw with a white compact, frothy head; floral aromas with a crisp and off-dry finish.
2.7 I wanted to get into this beer, just couldn't. I really like Dale's Pale Ale and others that I sampled from Oskar were solid. This brew is decent, ok for summer beer, just not one of the best Pilz for me. Some nice bitter flavor, a tad too rusty though. Appearance a very pale yellow. Could use some more malt maybe? Don't think I would buy this one again.
3.1 Not an average pilsner. Sweet yet not too sweet with a bitter aftertaste that is not too dry
2.6 Yellow with clingy foam. Balance of a little sweet malt with Noble crisp hop taste. Bitter aftertaste. One of the better Bavarian Pilsner styles because there is some malt sweetness to balance the spicy, bitter hops.
3.0 From backlog. On tap at Umami Burger, Anaheim, Ca. Yellow with white head. Malts, hops, OK.
