Oskar Blues Pinner Throwback IPA

Oskar Blues Pinner Throwback IPA

How do you cram as much hop & malt flavor and aroma as possible into a beer but make it crushable too? That’s the challenge we answered with PINNER Throwback IPA. At 4.9% ABV and 35 IBUs, this drinkable IPA uses several varieties of hops to target the ever-evolving flavor. With tropical fruits, citrus juices, pineapple and spice berry up front in the aroma and flavor, the biscuit & toasted bread at the back balance out all the hops and make a great finish to go on to your next can of PINNER. It’s the perfect beer for a little sip, sip, give.

2.7 12 oz can. Smells of malt and pine. Yellow in color with a bit of haze. Tastes of a bit of hops and malt, but nothing really stands out, the flavors are quite muted. Mouthfeel is rather thin. Finish is unremarkable. Could be due to the fact that the one I have was canned on 6/6/18, if I find a fresher sample I may update my rating.
2.4 Can. What a disappointment after just finishing an Oskar Blues Can-O-Bliss Tropical IPA. Pinner is bland, with a very weak hop aroma and flavor. The only positive is that there are no off-flavors.
4.0 Lovely smooth citrus ipa...impressed
3.6 A session IPA that's not heavy. Hoppy, but not all that bitter. Dry and punchy with a nice grapefruit zest. Full in the finish.
3.8 (12oz can, part of a mix 15 pack) AROMA: barley/grain, metallic, muted citrus and pine hop notes, lemon cream, APPEARANCE: clear, pale golden amber, billowy/airy thick white foam, fades down to a dirty layer TASTE: decent grain upfront, piney and citrus peel, touch fruity with hint of peach or tropical fruit, then dried fruit and herbs and some pretty smooth hop bitterness PALATE: light to medium body, very well balanced, crisp, then creamy, soft lingering bitterness that lets you enjoy it without going too far OVERALL: excellent session IPA, aroma is not as hoppy as some (AllDay IPA, for example), but the feel and balance are top notch. just the right amount of body and chewiness so there is no way you think you are drinking some mass produced crap, but just light/easy enough that you could drink 2 or 3 of these. Feels/tastes like you are drinking a full-on 6.5% IPA.
3.4 Can - Very large frothy white head dissipates to small round edge. Clear light golden - high carbonation. Good citrus aroma. Good mouthfeel. Decent citrus tasting - pineapple - with good finish. Easy drinking. Nice beer.
5.0 Furit and biter and Reilly little biter
3.5 (Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 19 Sep 2018) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of caramel, crisp-bread, orange peel and black-currant. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, orange peel, crisp-bread and a balanced citric/piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and refreshing. Nice one.
3.9 outstanding session ipa - combines characteristics of new and old style ipas with great hop balance, low bitterness, and maltiness. aroma is slightly green, earthy woody hops with a tropical background. flavor has woody and earthiness balanced just right with tropical fruit and sappy pine with low bitterness. pleasing smooth dry palate. one of the better mass produced session ipas out there...
3.0 Draught at Ölrepubliken Deepglden with a medium head. Fruity and resinous aroma and flavour. Light to medium bitterness. Disappointingly bland.
3.2 Bue en cannette 355ml. Mousse généreuse tête couleur blé. Très belle odeur résineuse. Même aspect en bouche avec très peu d’effervescence mais de jolie note d’épices et d’agrume. Il me ce coté hoppie. Dommage. Petite IPA
4.2 Tremendous aroma burst out of the can when I opened it, so I know it would be good. The taste lived up to the smell, hoppy, butter, fruity, a bit of malt. Great stuff.
3.3 355 ml can, appears a hazy light golden yellow topped with a thin layer of white froth. Aromas are citrus and grapefruit, followed by more floral hops and pine. Taste is siMilar, lightly sweet, and mild piney bitter. Full flavoured, a bit too carbonated, only noticeable as a session due to its light body.
3.2 I had this at Flying Saucer. Pours gold with a white head. Taste piney, semi sweet, earthy. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.
4.0 Aroma sitrus, appelsin, humle. Utseende Uklar gylden med hvitt skum. Smak sitrus, appelsin, humle, malt. Middels fyldig fruktig, god bitterhet. Boks på The Bishops Arms, 33cl 4,9%
3.5 Tropical fruit and a nutty malt with a lively finish with pineapple. Nice session IPA.
3.7 Can from AEON Liquors, Jiyugaoka. Pours somewhat plain orange, not fully transparent and a bit of foam at first, which is gone soon. Nose has nice fruity feel to it, quite subtle but has some papaya, melon, light bitter kick. Taste has some decent bitterness, not heavy, quite balanced and easy to drink. Simple in a way as well, flavours are clean, biscuity base, fruity hops and hop resins are in a well defined balance.
3.9 Can from Asda poured fridge cold, looks clear golden with medium carbonation. Smell: Grapefruit, pineapple hint of strawberry very pleasant. Taste: pleasant balance of grapefruit, bitternesss and a little dryness. Overall pleasant without blowing me away.
3.4 Golden with a white head - Hop aroma that is fruity with herbal hints - Malt body to support a hop profile that is fruity with some bitterness - The hops goes into the finish with some bitterness - This was nice
3.2 resin, floral, grass, spruce, citrus, herbs, pale, golden, amber, orange, red, brown, clear, hazy, cloudy, sparkling, rocky head, frothy, minimal head, white foam, tan foam, light sweetness, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium bitterness, very bitter, lightly sour, medium sourness,
3.4 33cl can from Tescos. Thick white head. Hazy golden pour. Lovely bitterness. Very good.
3.6 355 ml can. Pours golden with a reasonable head and good lacing.Refreshing IPA with a hint of grapefruit flavour and a slight bitter aftertaste. I found this to be a refreshing beer on a summers evening. Will definitely buy it again.
4.0 5/10/18 With A at Perelman scholarship dinner. Lots of citrus on the nose. Smells like a juicy ipa. Taste follows with lots of grapefruit pith dominating. Other citrus and floral characteristics play second fiddle to bitter grapefruit. Med-light feel. Very drinkable. Overall, more flavorful and every bit as crushable as the abv would indicate. Excellent session IPA!
3.0 (paille, nez hoppy, bouche chaotique entre pin et égrumes, trop légère, bad ipa-esque, visualise rien)
3.4 Can. Slightly cloudy, pale golden color, white head. Fairly sweet aroma with notes of wood and hops. Caramel malt flavor with some nice hop aromatics. Medium-light body, medium carbonation. Nice.
3.9 The beer has got a hazy golden-amber colour with a small head and medium body. Aroma of hops and pine. taste of hops, pine, herbs. spices and fruits. Hoppy finish.
3.9 Found in can at Ingles in Franklin, NC. Really enjoyable in every sense. Aroma is pleasant, color is light and welcoming. The best part is the taste as it is refreshing and well hopped without being overwhelming. Great Spring-Summer IPA.
3.3 Can. Dark gold. Bready, malty, caramel. Light bitterness, crisp beer. Certainly more like a British style ipa, malty, but with a nice hop bitterness in the finish. Wee bit watery.
3.7 330 ml can. Good smell but the taste dont live up to the expectations, not as punchy. Still good.
