2.5 Canned 9/8/16, drunk 10/6/16. Hazy, though not soupy, drab brass-golden body is topped by a medium-sized white head showing moderate retention. The galaxy is certainly still quite evident and even somewhat strong in the nose adding notes of juicy watermelon, nectarine, pineapple, dank, green spiciness and tangerine, as its apt to do. The malt packs a punch, though, and there’s A LOT of rich honey, light caramel and plentiful fruitiness from the yeast. Alcohol is not exactly well-concealed here, either. Still, it’s clean and fairly well-done, if rather heavy-handed all around. Thick, malty, fairly sweet with strong caramel suggestions and lots of bitterness. Obviously a beer for "Big Beer" lovers, so not my thing at all. Still, I can appreciate the Galaxy character which even after almost a month, is still vibrant and enjoyable. Low carbonation, but mostly engaging, with a rich, malty texture, fairly alcoholic, with lots of other heavy/messy esters. Bigger is not Better.....
4.7 Big thanks to Sebletitje! Big USA can drank before Dark Funeral show outside. Canned 08 Sep. 2016. Checked Sebletitje’s glass for appearance (I drank straight from the can), near clear orange, huge creamy white head. Nose is pine, onion hops, nice bready malt, caramel, lovely Vermont styled IPA despite the non-super hazy appearance. Taste is super creamy faint onion hops, luckily only a nice touch probably since this isn’t crazy young like some like, you get lovely pine, low onion, faint tropical, finish is nice lingering big grass, you get a great creamy dough white bread backbone, nice malt backbone really gives it great balance. Super creamy drinks really well. Insanely good, usually not a biggest fan of these kinds of beers but this is one of the greatest DIPA’s I have ever had. Shame people aren’t canning stuff like this where I live.
4.0 2 pint cans via trade in Brussels, thanks Diesehrl, shared one can each with 77ships prior to Dark Funeral’s show. Canned Sept 8 2016.
3.6 Earthy and slightly musty hop aroma. Caramel malt backbone in the flavor followed by an aggressive hop bitterness. Finishes as a nice balance of hops and malts.
3.7 Can, 1 pint. A clear golden beet with a small white hear. Aroma is of hops, pine and alcohol. Taste is medium bitter with fizzy carbonation and a malty aftertaste. Medium bodied, dry and astringent. Nice and well-balanced.
3.9 Can, 1 pint. Clear golden with a frothy offwhite head. Aromas of floral and tropical hops, caramel, pine. Medium bodied, moderate to fizzy carbonation. Medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Deep roasted and hoppy flavors into an astringent bitter finish. Standard modern IPA.
4.0 Hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, tropical fruits, tangerine, citrus, and pine. Taste of citrus, pine, grass, toast and grapefruit.
3.8 Shared at Craft. Turbid gold pour with frothy white head. Nose was piney hops, mango, tangerine. Fruity flavor, with assertive hops, florals, smooth.
3.9 Can thanks to maxdaddy. Big luscious malts, crystalline. Bubbly smooth mouthfeel. Hop forward... bed of pine needles. Citrus and melon rind. Dry finish.
3.7 From notes. This one was enjoyed at Travis’s house during a planned two-man IPA rampage on July 5. 16 oz can. The pour is a cloudy golden yellow with a thick head and a great lace as it falls to a ring. The aroma is definitely juicy. There is a dankness to it, and some light fruitiness. It’s got a little pine happening, but it balances pretty well, I’m impressed. The flavor is a little more leafy and fresh hop based, but it’s really good. There is a light biscuit happening with the tropical fruits and it’s got a nice dank finish. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a nice carbonation and a lingeringly dank and fruity finish. This is a nice surprise!
3.9 From notes (July 2015). There’s a lot of flavor in this one. The Galaxy hops are fantastic, giving a mountain of over-ripe fruit flavors. I thought the malt was a little too sweet for my tastes and I got a bit of metallic bite at the end. Also -- this thing is boozy. I tasted it a bit when I was drinking it, but I felt it quite a bit the next day.
3.8 At Torst, NYC. Rich, clear copper. Soft rings foam. Sweaty aroma. Dense juicy beer, citrus reduction. Nice bitter. Syrupy alc body. Rich, bitter, nice.

3.5 (Can, 0.473 l - canned 12/12/15, at tiong’s tasting, thanks tiong, 20150109) The beer poured golden and lightly hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had resin, malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were resin, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had resin and bitterness. A bit boozy but still pleasant.
3.6 Decent. Big malt body lots of chewy malt caramel. Some grassy herbal hop profile. Finish is smooth and chewy orange fruit.
3.2 Can thanks to Bytemesis. nose is fruity, soft malt, Can is vibrant and green/black. Taste is very grassy and lightly astringent. Hops seem more green tasting that anything else. Not very citrus, not very earthy. Not getting much fruity pebbles like I normally do from galaxy. Ok I guess, but not my fave.
2.5 473ml can (tasting @tiong’s, thanks). Cloudy orange color. Brief yellow head. Burnt rubber, plastic, fruity, strawberries in aroma. Hazelnut skins, fruity, harsh grapefruit, sweet and acidic in taste. Harsh grapefruit in aftertaste. Acidic mouthfeel. At least it doesn’t taste alcoholic. Harsh brew.
2.3 500ml can - thanks tiong and the rest of the posse at tiongs! Sweet peachy sickly hop aroma, very stanky. Sticky palate. Plasticky taste - a real mess. Slick palate. Harsh bitterness - very piney. Dirty yeast fingerprint. Alcohol not even hidden. Classic victim of just cranking up a recipe and hoping you can hide all the flaws behind a ton of hops. Absolutely no balance. Precisely what I dislike about DIPAs.
3.4 16 oz can. Canned 12/12/15. Courtesy of tiong. Clear deep golden color with a tiny white head. Fresh hops, moderate bitterness, fruits and some maltiness in the aroma. The flavor is dry hops, bitterness, fruitiness and some dank.
3.7 473ml can, thanks Sami! Canned 12/18/15 - Pours orange with a small white head. Aroma of fresh dank and juicy hoppiness, grass and caramely malts. Taste is hoppy, sweetish and malty with some grassy hops, tropical fruits, hints of bitterness and herbal notes. Finish is sweetish, dry, bitter and hoppy with some grass, herbal notes and mild fruitiness. Okay, but not quite as good as some of the other beers I’ve had from them.
3.7 Can at tiong’s, Espoo. Thanks tiong! Colour is slightly cloudy orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, pine, some hints of caramel and sweetness, hops and malts. Very fresh and drinkable.
